2008 will be gone and behind us shortly. Overall, it wasn’t all that good of a year for conservative Republicans. We did take a beating nationwide.
On the bright side, we now hold the majority on the County Commission with Tom Mielke’s win.
Washington voters gave more power to the Democrats, even though the state has slipped deeper into fiscal troubles under their leadership since 2004.
2009 will be the year conservatives begin coming together again and reasserting our voices, if we all become involved. We can no longer sit back and hope for the best. We must all get involved and assert our voices in the County Republican Party.
Democrats may be on the verge of dictatorial power, but they haven’t totally attained it yet.
Take some time and make the effort to let your voices be heard. Write letters to the Columbian and if they won’t publish them, contact me and you can post your thoughts here. Call and write our Representatives, even though they are Democrats and tend to ignore us.
Above all, let’s look for and identify true conservatives candidates and encourage them to run next election. Let’s get behind them, support them and campaign for them.
Moderate Republicans have drug the party downwards to mediocrity and Evangelicals have alienated many. We can retain our religious beliefs without it appearing like the church is running the party.
It’s time we acted, Southwest Washington Conservatives. Our country was founded by individuals like us who became fed up with over governance and stifling of our liberties. The liberal media, from Seattle to Vancouver, portrays us as “splintered” and un-organized, needing to move the party further left;
Republicans need to use their brains again
Clark County turns blue as Democrats gain favor
Spending is out of control, Democrats admit they don’t know what to do, the governor calls for “ugly budget cuts,” while elected officials seek new “revenues.” Moderates have pushed the GOP to the left and we began losing elections nationwide. And now, we are told we need to move further left?
Tom Mielke and Mark Boldt can’t do it alone. They need our input and support as you can rest assured their decisions will be met with much left-winged scorn and vitriol by the Columbian’s John Laird and others.
Slightly over 91,000 voted Republican this year for governor in Clark County. That is a loud voice if we assert it.
We have good solid Republicans returning to office in Washington, Don Benton, Jaimie Herrera, Ed Orcutt and Joseph Zarelli. They need our help, support and input.
2008 is behind us and we need to make 2009 the year conservatives woke up and put our state back on track to success. All it will take is some minimal effort on your part and we can turn our state and country around.
Albert Einstein told us that Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
2009 is the time we must change our drift leftward and re-assert conservatism in the Republican Party.
2009 is when we must stop allowing the left to define our positions and party.
Contact the Clark County GOP or your own County GOP and let them know you are ready for real change, not just the lose change Democrats leave in your pocket.
Have a Happy New Years and let’s make 2009 count for America, Clark County and Washington State.
