by lewwaters

As previously reported, Vancouver’s Dotster has been hosting a website opened by Al Shabaab, a Somali Terrorist Group recruiting inside America.

Florida Private Investigator Bill Warner tracked the group to Vancouver’s Dotster and attemopted to get them to shut the sire down, to no avail, Dotster being concerned over first amendment rights.

Bill Warner left a comment on the pervious post informing us that the US Government apparently has finally gotten around to ordering Dotster to shut it down.

I applaud Bill Warner in his efforts to combat terrorist, especially in recruiting suicide bombers inside America.

I was disappointed that Dotster allowed this site to remain under the guise of “free speech.”

I only hope Dotster is more diligent in who they host web sites to in the future.

Ugandans in London protest at Museveni’s crackdown

    By Norman Miwambo

The central government and Buganda Kingdom crisis in Uganda that led to the deaths of over 27 innocent unarmed civilians last month scaled up as Ugandans petitioned the No. 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the British Prime Minister.

Business at London’s Uganda House at 58-58 Trafalgar Square came to a standstill as the demonstrator camped outside the Uganda High Commission, attracting the attention of the passers by who listened to the songs and read placards.

The petition which was delivered on Thursday, October 8, to Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s No. 10 Downing Street residence reads in part: “Ugandans have been indiscriminately and extra-judicially shot by security forces while exercising their universally and constitutionally enshrined rights.”

It was in reference to Museveni’s televised directive of ‘Shoot and Kill’ when the riots broke out on September 10.

The British Prime Minister’s failure to issue a statement on the current standoff in an East Africa country yet Britain leads foreign backers [donor community] club.

According to the demonstrators this could potentially cost him a vote in the next coming election. They also claim that this crisis could potentially threaten potential investors and British interests in Uganda. British oil companies Heritage Oil (HOIL.L) and Tullow Oil (TLW.L) working on an exploration projects in the Albert basin in western Uganda at the boarder of DR Congo.

“We have taken this decision to petition the British PM because of the traditional political and diplomatic influence over Uganda,” said Mr Steven Lwetutte a human right activist also working with Amnesty International on matters concerning with Eastern Europe.

He added: “We hope that the Mr Gordon Brown [British prime minister] will this time act appropriately to protect his country’s interests in Uganda.” Britain has a long traditional political and diplomatic influence over Uganda and it leads the international donor community club that supplements Uganda’s budget.

“It has become a culture for repressive regimes to consolidate on the legacy of violence, mass-massacres, and all sorts of human rights violations, in order to perpetuate himself in power. It is against this background that we approach Mr Brown so that he could clearly state his position regarding to this state affairs in Uganda,” Mr Lwetutte reasoned.

This was the second time for Ugandans to hold a demonstration and delivering a petition to the Prime Minister since the indiscriminating shoot and killing of unarmed civilian by the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UDF), army officer led Police and other security agents last month. The streets mass-massacres occurred as a result of the government’s armed agents blocked the kingdom’s Prime Minister who was on his way to Kayunga to finalise preparations for the visit of His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

The London demonstration coincided with the US which started at the Uganda Embassy in Washington DC.

Chairman of Buganda Centre Deo Malagala Kiggundu said: “We, as British citizens with strong roots in Uganda, do strongly condemn these blunt abuses and violating of the constitution right. We pay Her Majesty’s Revenues, which is the reason we have decided to take on the British government to come out and send the message to Mr Museveni. With these evidences there is a strong certainty that the ICC will intervene and investigate the actions of Mr Museveni.”

He was referring to the collected evidences of survivors’ accounts, video footages and photographs shot during the last month’s massacres in the capital Kampala. Over 27 innocent civilians were brutally killed and nearly 1000 arrested on trumped up charges whilst others still missing.

The petitioners were accompanied by a sizable number of protesters carrying placards. Among the inscriptions on the placards wete “British Interests at Stake with Museveni Regime”, “International Community Please Help to Avert Genocide in Uganda”, “Museveni Must Stop High Class Nepotism”, “Foreign Investors are at Risk in Uganda with Museveni in Power.”

Others read “There is no Freedom of Speech and Association in Uganda”, “Fight Poverty, Corruption and Unemployment but not Freedom of Speech and Association.”

“We know this is a self-conceited Museveni who took the Kabaka through the State House garden path and behind closed door when buying time ahead of 2011 presidential campaigns,” said Malagala Kiggundu, adding that: “He is not different from Joseph Kony. Museveni’s track record of deception and deceit is well documented.”

Mr Malagala added: “You can’t be negotiating whilst continuing to sign illegal arrest warrants to people perceived to be with different views from yours. That is the typical Museveni. After killing thousands of Ugandans in north he has embarked in the central to continue with his blood thirsty. The earlier we call in the international criminal court to intervene the better we shall save the nation from a looming genocide.”

“Several hundreds have been rounded up arbitrarily and held in detention without charges beyond the constitutionally set period. Many are being held in un-gazetted detention facilities where they are plausibly being tortured or at great danger of being tortured or otherwise ill-treated,” reads part of the petition.

The petitioners allege that there are also a number of people missing, who appear to have been disappeared without trace.

“Yes, we have information of people whose where about are not known. They are claimed to have been taken to court when actually they are not there,” the deputy Information minister Medard Lubega Segona confirmed to this in a telephone interview on Friday, October 9.

The Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura could not comment on the allegations of missing people since the arrest started mid-last month because it is a public holiday, saying: “I can’t make a comment because right now we are celebrating the Independence Day.”

The trained army officer, currently in police uniform also said: “Not all police officer are PR, better call the Police spokesperson.” Referring to Judith Nabakooba who also said: “I’m at the national function, I can’t speak now.”

A petition copied to Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, Right Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Hon. Nick Clegg, International Criminal Court (ICC) and European Commission, Brussels-based suggests that several prominent politicians, political activists, lawyers, journalists’ human right activists have been charged with sedition, incitement, and terrorism and other trumped up charges.

The reports are all backed-up by incontrovertible evidence including: independent video footage, eyewitness testimonies and testimonies by diplomats, lawyers, journalists, local and international human rights organisation, and by the victims themselves. There is a general climate of fear and tension and uncertainty for the future as the government continues to clamp down on dissent and the Buganda activism.

Even the September 30, meet between Museveni and His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, described as stage-managed photo circus is yet to bring in actual signs of settling the long standing disputes. The meeting covered the front pages of all local newspapers. Although some officials on each-side issued sugar-coated statements, several people and MPs are still under threats of arrest over the September riots.

Many people are still incarceration, independent journalists fired, radio stations still closed on the directive of Mr Museveni.
