Kirby Wilbur Elected Chair of Washington State Republican Party

by lewwaters

Just now seeing this on facebook, updates will follow as news breaks.

From the Seattle Times,

“Delegates at a Republican Party meeting in Tukwila gave 69 votes to Wilbur, 36 to Esser and 7 to Bill Rennie.”

“Esser argued the state GOP was in much better shape than it was four years ago when he took the reins, but Wilbur said Republicans should have done better in the 2010 elections given the national wave.”

“The question is not are we better off. The question is are we as good as we could be?” Wilbur said.

Wilbur is right. With the massive results east of the Cascades, we should have seen much better results in Washington State.

I can think of at least 2 legislative seats Clark County should have easily taken away, Jim Moeller’s and Tim Probsts’.

With Moeller’s Candy and Soda Tax outright rejected in November, he too should have been easily defeated.

Laura Sample was elected Vice-Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party.

Nansen Malin, chair of the Pacific County GOP that was unable to secure a single Republican candidate to run for local office this last election, announced on twitter that she has been elected to the WSRP Executive Board. Esser’s legacy will still be felt.

  1. Malin? Seriously?

No one else wanted the job?

Kirby better strap on his Kevlar vest… the Bellevue Mafia and the E Board are coming after him.

  2. It’s going to be interesting to see how it turns out with so many new people leading and the old guard still fighting to continue as always before, even though losing so often.

Some just can’t figure out that it isn’t about “the party” so much as it is “the people.”

That’s where they have lost touch and the Democrats capitalized on their own false claim that they were “for the people.”

Personally, I am fed up with the power struggle ongoing for so many years between the two major parties.
