Progressive Voters Guide Issued

by lewwaters

It should come as no surprise that once again, as we have seen many times before, a “Progressive Voters Guide” is set out to tell leftist Progressives which candidates they identify as leftwing Progressives and which measures Progressives think should be enacted. Whether the Columbian will be as outraged over it as they were to discover a GOP voters guide remains to be seen.

No surprise to see Sharon Wylie listed, we know her to be pretty leftwinged, even if the Progressives got it wrong that she is “non-partisan.”

What I think will come as a surprise, at least to two candidates comes next.

I know that supporters of both of these candidates opponents see them as Liberals, but I also know from speaking with both candidates that neither of them see themselves as Liberal, or Progressive.

Both are endorsed by some fairly Liberal/Progressive groups, but often such endorsements are not always sought. But, those groups must feel the candidate will support their goals more so than the other, just as conservatives who endorse their opponents hope for.

Left out of their “Report Card” is any endorsements for position 4 of the Vancouver City Council between incumbent Bart Hansen and Conservative challenger Josephine Wentzel. Surely they didn’t fall for the Hansen is a Conservative canard? After all, he sought and enjoys the endorsements of unions that predominantly endorse Liberal/Progressive candidates and the Clark County Democrats wrote of Bart in their July 2011 Newsletter, “Bart Hanson, who was appointed to the seat after it was vacated by the election of Mayor Tim Leavitt, has been active in the Democratic Party.”

The link was sent to the Columbian’s Andrea Damewood who seemed aghast that the GOP issued a voters guide without any endorsements in a printed article.

As said before, I make no endorsement here since living outside the city limits prevents my voting for any of the city council races.

Vote your values and let’s hope they benefit the city and surrounding community.

  1. AMAZING ISN’T IT THAT BART HANSON IS SUPPORTED BY THE BLUE DONKIES SAYING HE DOES A LOT OF WORK FOR THE DEMOCRATS. BART HANSON ALSO TOLD THE CHAIRMAN OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HE WAS A REPUBLICAN. BART HANSON WAS AT ONE TIME ON THE ENDORSEMENT SHEET FOR SHARON WYLIE THAT STATED IN A CLARK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING SHE WAS A PROUD PROGRESSIVE. HANSON LATER STATED HE DID NOT GIVE PERMISSION TO HAVE HIS NAME ON WYLIE’S ENDORSEMENT LIST. SOMETHING SURE LOOKS A LITTLE UNETHICAL WOULDN’T YOU SAY. HANSON WOULD NOT FILL OUT THE RIGHT TO LIFE QUESTIONAIR, HOWEVER JUST RECENTLY HE SENT RIGHT TO LIFE A LETTER SAYING HE WAS PRO LIFE. HANSON HAS SIGNS OUT SAYING HE IS SUPPORTED BY THE FIRE FIGHTERS UNION. TALK ABOUT SOMEONE THAT IS TRYING TO PLAY BOTH SIDES AGAINST THE MIDDLE. HOPEFULLY THE VOTERS WILL VOTE FOR JOSEPHINE WENTZEL THAT TELLS THE TRUTH AND DOES NOT PLAY DECEITFUL GAMES WITH OUR CITIZENS.

  2. Lew,

Hopefully the majority of the Citizens of our 49th District will know the truth about who Sharon Wylie is and what she supports by stating she is a proud Progressive. Most Democrats I know won’t go that far to the Socialist, Marxist left. In less the voters of the 49th district want more taxes of every kind, that Sharon Wiley can come up with, and more jobs destroyed and another push for a State income tax and less money to help the most vulnerable among us, they will vote for Craig Riley a respectful voice for the people.

  3. Well, she’s aghast when the GOP does anything to spread their message. But her fellow fringe-left nutters?

    Nary a mention.

  4. Guys, Am I wrong or am I used to seeing more advertising for races like in the 49th district? Pretty quiet this election cycle. (except for some local city council races.)
