I-1053 Ruled Unconstitutional

by lewwaters

Sure to please Jim Moeller, he has successfully invalidated voters votes

I-1053 Unconstitutional

Undoubtedly 49th Legislative District Representative Jim ‘da taxman’ Moeller is dancing on the floor of the house this morning at this stunning slap down of voters in Washington State that have voted 5 times to require a 2/3 majority vote in order for the legislature to increase taxes.

UPDATE: Facebook Pulls Heterosexual Appreciation Page

by lewwaters

KissingFacebook is likely the premier social networking site, having grown immensely since it was first brought online years ago. Millions of people have joined and promoted several causes, many quite controversial and of questionable taste, without even a bat of the eyelids from facebook.

Some have been very objectionable such as a page labeled “Ann Romney’s Magical Mormon Cunt” depicting Mrs. Romney with vampire fangs.

Complaints on that offensive page received a reply from facebook of, “we were not able to confirm that the specific page you reported violates Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

You judge if the page would be considered objectionable to you in the screenshot below.

Jim Moeller Still “Doesn’t Get It”

by lewwaters

Moeller, SilenceJim Moeller, Democrat 49th Legislative District Representative is as liberal and arrogant as they can get. He has long shown that what voters think is irrelevant to what he thinks, between dreaming up ways to stick constituents with more taxes during a deep recession to joining in to sue to invalidate their votes, Moeller marches to his tune, not that of his constituents.

Nothing gives a better example than his continued support of forcing them to accept Portland, Oregon’s ill fated light rail, even with them repeatedly saying they do not want it.

In short, Jim Moeller just “doesn’t get it,” as he told me in comments under the Columbian article, C-Tran seeks direction on light rail

Apparently, C-Tran ‘doesn’t get it’ either as we have been telling them since 1995 that we taxpayers do not want to Portland’s light rail and do not want to pay for it.

Common Sense Goes Out the Window in Olympia

by lewwaters

Crowd 03The deadline for bill cut-off passed yesterday in Olympia, Washington meaning, if the bill did not pass out of committee, it’s dead. Seeing some of the bills that did make it out of committee, while others were allowed to, or made to die is very disconcerting. It’s as if common sense has no place in our state legislature.

Probably the most needed bill, Liz Pike’s HB 1788 that would have permitted local school districts to decide on their own if qualified, licensed and properly trained teachers would be permitted to arm themselves to defend students should a shooter access the school, bypassing several layers of security and violating every existing gun law, as happens in every school shooting, was allowed to languish, dying in committee as chairs did not even wish to discuss it.

Troubling in this is that the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Seattle Democrat Rep. Jamie Pedersen, stated that he “was not receptive to the bill.” What is troubling, if not downright hypocritical, Pederson has the right to carry a firearm inside the Capitol, concealed on his body during session as there is no effort to end the legislator’s right to defend themselves on the floor of the legislature.

Patty Murray: “We Have To Destroy The Middle Class In Order To Save It”

by lewwaters

Patty Murray, ScowlPatty Murray, Democrat Senator from Washington State, following the lead of all other Democrats, portrays herself as a “Champion of the Middle Class.” They swept to power in both houses of congress in the 2006 elections by that claim, bashing President George W. Bush and the spineless Republicans who failed to counter the claims with truth.

The middle class has never been worse off since.

Winning office in the early 1990’s as just a “Mom in tennis shoes,” the now 62 year-old has shown herself to be more of a “Mom in muddy shoes,” sparing no effort to retain her cushioned seat of authority, promoting a Progressive agenda on the backs of the middle class while catering to big labor and selected corporate special interests.

Vancouver Light Rail Petition Lawsuit Delayed

by lewwaters

Tilted ScaleAs regular readers know, the lawsuit filed by Larry Patella, Debbie Peterson and several others was heard in Cowlitz County Superior Court today before Judge Stephen Warning and after hearing arguments from both sides, delayed the trial, rescheduling it for a ruling on March 27, 2013.

“I’m going to look hard at this. But the standard of proof in this case is ‘beyond a shadow of a doubt.’ And before I can state beyond a shadow of a doubt that something is unconstitutional — even if both parties say I should — I need to make sure I have the factual predicate,” said Judge Warning as he requested attorneys for both parties to submit briefs in the meantime.

The parties are in agreement that the current law mandating Clark County Auditor, Greg Kimsey to invalidate double signatures, including the original signature on a petition calling on the Vancouver, City Council to place on the ballot whether voters want the city contributing any funds to Portland’s light rail as unconstitutional, the basis of the lawsuit.

Seattle & Portland in the Running for 2024 Summer Olympics

by lewwaters

OlympicAs if we don’t have enough trouble in the Northwest with high taxes, pie in the sky dreams of bloated projects taxpayers can ill afford, we now see that the cities of Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon were among 35 cities contacted by the U.S. Olympic Committee to gauge their interest in hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics.

With 35 cities contacted it is far from a done deal by either city, but we all know that both cities operate along narcissistic lines, constantly doing what they can to draw attention to themselves and hiding the seedier sides of the respective cities, no matter the cost to taxpayers.

The Seattle PI is asking whether or not readers would want the 2024 Olympics and as of this posting those in favor are in the lead, labeling it an awesome idea.

The no ways are second by several votes.

Wishful Thinking and High Hopes Fuel CRC, Not Concern for the People

by lewwaters

CRC CorruptionFor some years now, the Columbia River Crossing Project, an overly ambitious desire to replace the aging Interstate 5 bridges between Clark County Washington and Portland Oregon and force Clark County citizens to accept Portland’s financially embattled light rail against our will, has elected to ignore the voters and taxpayers on both sides of the river. Common sense was thrown out the window from the beginning as schemes, plots and at times, outright lies have been used in an effort to portray the project as being favorable to citizens.

On the contrary, more people are expressing opposition after each effort.

But when it comes to the empire building effort of those involved with the CRC, taxpayers mean little even though we will be forced to foot the bill for this boondoggle for many generations and jobs will be destroyed upriver and in downtown Vancouver, Washington. Jobs that the very people they expect to foot the bill for this nightmare rely on to survive and pay the tolls, fees and taxes that will be needed to pay the monstrosity off.

Jim Moeller Calls For ‘De-Stigmatizing’ HIV Infected Homosexuals

by lewwaters

MoellerI have long maintained that 49th Legislative District Representative Jim Moeller is focused primarily on his own “special interests,” those being the open promotion of homosexuality and societal acceptance of what was considered a ‘deviant lifestyle’ not all that long ago.

Moeller, an open homosexual has been instrumental in the incremental steps taken to legalize homosexual marriage in our state, promoting “domestic partnerships” over the years by using elderly people as a prop and gradually increasing the declared “rights” of homosexuals while retaining their “protected class status.”

I have been labeled a bigot, a liar, a homophobe and what have you when I would mention that domestic partnership laws were merely incremental steps towards fully legalized and recognized homosexual marriage, supporters claiming each time that the specific law proposed was “all they were seeking.” Even if I quoted other openly homosexual legislators claims of it only being an incremental step, I was demeaned for mentioning it.

We Need Less Gun Regulation and More Media Control

by lewwaters

There is a terrific disadvantage in not having the abrasive quality of the press applied to you daily. Even though we never like it, and even though we wish they didn’t write it, and even though we disapprove, there isn’t any doubt that we could not do the job at all in a free society without a very, very active press.” John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States

The ColumbianOnce was the time that we had great trust in our media to report news fairly and give us relevant information of what is happening within our cities as well as across the nation. The media was tenacious in pursuing Richard Nixon, 37th President of the United States, leading him to become the first ever President to resign the office in 1974.

Perhaps fueled by their success in that endeavor, the media of today bears little resemblance to the media we largely trusted so many years ago. The media of today seems less inclined towards reporting news fairly, especially in political news and more inclined to push an agenda favored by the leftwing politicians.

Those of us old enough to remember can recall how throughout the 1980’s the media ridiculed Ronald Reagan with Sam Donaldson coming on after televised speeches to inform of us what he “really said or meant.” George H.W. Bush was portrayed as a buffoon. And of course, the relentless assaults on George W. Bush through the 2000’s even to the point in 2004 of a fabricated memo surfacing and reported as “fake but accurate.”

Of Firearms, Coffee and Legislation

by lewwaters

Occupant Gun WarningSaturday February 16, 2013 saw a large crowd of over 160 people assemble at Coffee Villa in Orchards, Washington. We assembled to meet new friends, discuss pending legislation, politics or whatever came to mind. Most came armed with a gun strapped to their hip to show support for our right to “keep and bear arms” that is once again under assault as government, unwilling to give up their arms, tries to pass new laws to inhibit our right to self defense by a firearm.

I was pleased to see favorable media coverage from both KGW News in Portland as well as our own local newspaper of record, the Columbian. To be honest, coverage was much better than I expected, having seen biased coverage in the past concerning guns and favoring efforts to further restrict our right to own one.

Many may think that many armed people in a small space, standing in a long line to order and be served their coffee is a recipe for disaster. Not so, as everybody in attendance came to show those with an abnormal fear of guns that guns in the hands of private citizens is nothing to be fearful of. Everybody respected each other’s space as discussions were carried on throughout the establishment.

When the Fringe Defines Who is Fringe

by lewwaters

Columbian FishwrapIt seems wherever we look today, those who disagree with the powers that be are labeled “fringe,” meaning far out of their self-described norm. But funny that those who cry others are “fringe” fail to recognize that they are often more out of line with the long held norms that made the American experience as great as we once were.

Case in point, the Columbian newspaper, the local newspaper of record for Clark County Washington. It is not without reason that I often label them the unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party.

No better example could be given that what we have often read from editor Lou Brancaccio, who tries to hide his own fringe left views in his weekly columns or, if stories I’ve heard around town are true, his treatment of others.

Jim Moeller: Arrogance Over Facts

by lewwaters

head_up_assIn the halls of our state legislature, I cannot imagine a more arrogant person elected than 49th Legislative District Representative, Jim Moeller. Where he is lacking in facts to support his positions, he more than makes up for it with his massive arrogance, ignoring real facts as he does whatever he can to raise taxes and confiscate money from the very people he claims he is working to help.

From his positions supporting public unions over private sector workers to backing private sector unions over non-union employees, Jim never lets facts or reality get in the way of his drive to create a socialist union over a free state of Washington.

Case in point is his blind support of the Columbia River Crossing and forcing Clark County residents to accept the light rail from Portland, Oregon we have repeatedly declined and said we do not want, even if the federal government paid for it.

Changing Minds on the CRC

by lewwaters

CRCThe Columbia River Crossing Project, a bloated effort to replace the aging spans of the Interstate Bridge connecting Southwest Washington and Portland, Oregon and force Clark County Washington to accept extending Portland financially ailing light rail was considered a “done deal,” just accept it, it’s happening, regardless of how the taxpayers that will be forced to foot the bill for decades thinks of it.

For a long time we have heard from the likes of Mayor Tim Leavitt, former Mayor Royce Pollard, Representative Jim Moeller, County Commissioner Steve Stuart, Portland’s former Mayor Sam Adams, current Portland Mayor Charlie Hale end many more ego-inflated elected officials that our resistance to “modernization” was futile, “it’s coming, deal with it.”

While most of us agree replacing the bridges is a good idea, we in Clark County have long resisted the notion of we must accept Portland’s deep in debt light rail. And the tide just may be turning as more and more, we see former supporters switching to opponents as efforts to peel back the shroud of secrecy that has long enveloped the CRC is back and light is shined on some very questionable procedures.

An Open Letter to Commissioner Madore

by lewwaters

This blog no longer supports David Madore and calls upon him to resign immediately!

Madore, Duct Tape IIICommissioner Madore, David, let’s have a little chat. I’ve spoken to you in the past about this and now feel the need to discuss it openly.

Against all of the published odds and predictions, you won the election against incumbent County Commissioner Marc Boldt. You had a lot of support and faced the scorn of the Columbian that have ridiculed and demeaned you since you came out publicly against the CRC and light rail.

You invested a lot of your own money in the race, but had a grassroots following that the Columbian has yet to acknowledge, leading detractors who follow you around to frequently make the false claim of “you bought the seat.”

They are not your friends.

Fed Up With Being Pushed Aside and Ignored, CRC Opponents File Lawsuit

by lewwaters

Tilted ScaleThe Columbia River Crossing project to extend Portland, Oregon’s financially troubled light rail a short distance into Clark County has long been a source of contention to county citizens and residents of the City of Vancouver.

Several times now efforts to give those citizens a vote on the project have been thwarted as promises made during campaigns of fighting for a citizen vote and efforts put forth by the citizens themselves have been neglected, discarded and voices in opposition marginalized by elected officials.

The latest effort saw a citizen petition rejected with the claim of being 32 signatures short of the required number after an excessive time spent verifying those signatures by the County Auditor’s office. Then end result was the claim of several duplicate signatures from voters who inadvertently signed more than once rejecting both the duplicate and the original signature along with some rejected due to the petition page not being dated properly.

Obama’s SOTU or SNAFU?

by lewwaters

obama-mussolini-poseOnce again we find ourselves preparing to have our ears tickled by Barack Obama as he speaks before both houses of congress and the nation to give the annual ‘State of the Union’ speech where he undoubtedly will speak of how well the country is doing under his tutelage and how well off citizens are, whether we actually are or not.

He is expected to cover “his plans to create jobs, tackle gun violence, and pass comprehensive immigration reform” as Nancy Pelosi, unarguably one of the worst Speakers of the House in our history, famously known for stating “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it” regarding Obama’s signature ‘Obamacare’ legislation, a direct contradiction of Obama’s campaign promise of a transparent government.

She also makes mention in this same email seeking support for Obama of this “ambitious agenda.”
