Great News, Dwight Pelz To Step Down

by lewwaters

Just coming out from the Seattle PI, bombastic Chair of the Washington State Democrat Party, Dwight Pelz, calling it quits.

Good riddance.

Now, for Jim ‘sue your constituents to invalidate their votes’ Moeller to follow.

An Honest Error or a Media Smear?

by lewwaters

The Lazy C once again shows their inability to write an accurate story as shown in the video below,

I have a difficult time believing it to be a simple error, given numerous contacts of the error throughout the day and it still remaining.

But, even if they do correct it online, it is likely it went out in the printed edition to both subscribers.

Absence of malice?

Updated: Haste Makes Rage

by lewwaters

Added copy of contract

CRC RobberAs you all know, the Columbia River Crossing light rail project, declared “dead” by the Governors of Oregon and Washington at the close of June and scheduled to have been closed down by September 1, was revived and rapidly pushed through this week, a 40 page contract actually signed immediately after 5 C-Tran Board member approved entering into that contract, none having actually read it.

That protocols and bylaws were cast aside to hastily approve and get a binding contract executed is of no concern to a segment of our community blindly following along the path of sheeple, doing as they are told.

Others that stand to profit over such a project, regardless of how it stands to hurt the middle class in Clark County do not care, naturally. Their greed takes precedence over common sense and if it takes selling out the county to build their wealth, so be it.

But the rest of us, likely the majority are enraged that this declared dead project is now an executed, binding contract and are not going to roll over and take it lying down.

Commissioner Madore Lodges Protest Over C-Tran Board Vote

by lewwaters

This blog no longer supports David Madore and calls upon him to resign immediately!

C-Tran RattledCopied in full from County Commissioner Madore’s facebook page, where he shared it with the public.

See also the preceding comment on receipt of a copy of the “40-page” contract already signed (executed), selling Clark County citizens down the river by that vote.

Leavitt, Stuart, Hansen, Smith and Onslow Sell Out Clark County Taxpayers

by lewwaters

StalinRemember the five names listed, Tim Leavitt, Steve Stuart, Bart Hansen, Larry Smith and Ron Onslow. Each just assumed the position of Commisar’s and completely sold out Clark County to Portland’s Metro.

Larry Smith especially should be totally ashamed. A retired US Army Colonel acting like the very Communist enemy we fought in our youth. He is a disgrace to the uniform we both once wore.

In case you are wondering, those five voted to enter into a contract with TriMet for the CRC, without a vote of the people. Each basically gave citizens the middle finger.

No doubt Jim Moeller will be elated, knowing now that taxpayers are screwed.

One of the worst points they just voted for, TriMet will have eminent domain power as C-Tran will be required to impose eminent domain should Trimet want your property in Clark County.

Allegations Fly in Battle Ground

by lewwaters

BattleGroundCitySeal-300x297Battle Ground, Washington, the small town northeast of Vancouver may not have seen a historic battle, but they have no shortage of battles when it comes to elections and keeping citizens entertained, often just shaking their heads.

The latest involves City Council Member and former Mayor Michael Ciraulo over a campaign fundraising event, a ‘Poker Night’ that was held on September 14, 2013 at Galeotti’s Restaurant and claims of it being in violation of Washington State Gambling Law.

A citizen complaint sent to Battle Ground City Manager, John Williams alleged the event, “did not have [the proper] gambling license as mandated by the State of Washington.”

The complaint further alleges, “The City of Battle Ground prohibits card rooms inside the city limits. Chapter 9.26 Public Card rooms (Ordinance 598s2, 1987), contact had been made with the Gambling Commission and the Commission had an ‘open and active’ investigation ongoing due to previous complaints filed by others.”

C-Tran Proposes Cutting Bus Service to Fund Light Rail

by lewwaters

First, a little trip down memory lane for you;

Yes, that was our former County Commissioner, Marc Boldt selling you on voting to approve a sales tax increase in the 2011 election in order for C-Tran to keep buses running. Or so we were to believe.

Voters approved that sales tax increase, fearing Granny would be left standing out in the cold on some street corner.

Who Will Really Represent Citizens of Vancouver?

by lewwaters

It is obvious that Alishia Topper is little more than a rubber stamp for Identity Clark County and other CRC light rail special interests.

Do you want someone who only listens to form her own understanding of what is needed in the city?

Or someone that listens and reacts to your desires in the city?

There really is no choice.

Reelect Jeanne E. Stewart, the voice of sanity and reason on the side of citizens against special interests for the last 12 years.

Cleveland’s Talking Points Out Of Touch With Constituents

by lewwaters

Cleveland 3There is an old saying by Mark Twain that goes, “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.”

The quote can fit no one better than 49th Legislative District Senator Annette Cleveland who tries to portray herself as learned and relevant, even though she has yet to complete a single year in office.

Face it, she didn’t win the election because of any great intellect or connection with voters, but solely because she registered as a Democrat running in the heavily Democrat 49th district. A district so out of touch with itself that it repeatedly reelects Jim Moeller, knowing he sued them to invalidate their votes so he can raise their taxes easier.

Even the Lazy C, in endorsing her last year admitted the Republican candidate, Eileen Qutub, was the more experienced and all around better candidate, but that Cleveland was running in a Democrat district so they went with her.

Economist warns: Renewed CRC Promises Gridlock on I-205

by lewwaters

I-5 Bridge 02Joe Cortright is President and principal economist for Impresa, a Portland consulting firm specializing in regional economic analysis, innovation and industry clusters. Joe is also a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and senior policy advisor for CEOs for Cities, a national organization of urban leaders.

An Economist with impeccable credentials that when he releases a study, we are assured it is well researched, deeply considered and very relevant to the subject at hand. As an old commercial said, he is one that when he speaks, people listen. Or at least, they should.

Mr. Cortright has deeply researched and released studies critical of the Columbia River Crossing light rail project and has grabbed our attention for his efforts. And as we now know, the once thought dead project is being brought back up with allegedly new considerations, but realistically, just the same old, same old we have rejected.

CBS Resurrects Vietnam Era Veteran Bashing

by lewwaters

Soldiers TearsThose of us who served in Vietnam know all too well the “Myth of the Deranged Veteran” that cast a dark shadow over us for so long. We recall the negative portrayals of us after our return in television, movies and even book series.

We were ticking time bombs, drug addicts, mentally disturbed due to some horrific experience we were forced to endure by the hated government of the time and we were subject to “flashbacks” where we would mentally find ourselves back in some battle, but in reality doing harm or killing innocent people, people we either didn’t even know or our loved ones.

That it was a lie did not even matter, it sold and convinced many to either fear us or to pity us.

Benton Pushes Back on “Oregon Only” CRC/Light Rail (UPDATED)

by lewwaters
Senator Don Benton

Senator Don Benton

Once more we see a prime example of why Senator Don Benton (R. 17th) is maybe the single most hated person in office by the Lazy C, he continues to stand up for the struggling middle class taxpayer over special interests like Identity Clark County and the rest of those hoping to straddle that same struggling middle class family with higher taxes, fees and tolls to pay for an extension of Portland’s financially troubled light rail into Vancouver.

As we know, the CRC was declared dead, but like a monster rising from the ashes, powers that be are trying to breathe new life into it, calling for wasting more tax dollars and forcing the community to accept a bloated transportation project that they refuse to let the community vote on, knowing that it will likely fail, as it did before.

Oregon Governor Kitzhaber is behind pushing what he refers to as an “Oregon Only” approach with Clark County commuters being straddled with the expense through tolls and fares for those forced to ride light rail into jobs in Portland, once C-Tran reduces bus service to meet the requirements of light rail.

Did “White Guilt” Play A Role in the Navy Yard Slaughter?

by lewwaters

White guilt is a form of self-congratulation, where whites initiate ‘compassionate policies’ toward people of color, to showcase their innocence to racism.” George Will, Columnist

Black PowerTragedy once again unfolded early morning September 16, 2013 as gunfire opened inside the U.S. Navy Yard in Washington D.C., ultimately seeing 12 innocent people and the shooter dead and with many more injured.

No known motive has yet been revealed and there are many questions being asked, mostly centered around security, just who was Aaron Alexis, the 34 year old man said to have entered the building and killed so many and as information is coming out, many are wondering just how this man obtained and held a Security Clearance to access the Navy Yard, much less allow him to buy the shot gun officials now say was used in the killings.

Once identifying Alexis as the shooter, within hour’s reports began appearing in the media of a very troubled man with a history of mental instability, misconduct while in the Navy Reserves and at least two run-ins with law enforcement over gun charges.

Tacky, Lazy C, Really Tacky

by lewwaters

Trash 1In spite of the claims of Editor Lou Brancaccio, the Columbian, better known as the Lazy C for their very selective reporting, is as liberal biased as any media source out here.

While conservatives frequently are threatened over comments, warned that they are on thin ice for something they might say, others apparently get a free reign to spew hate filled vitriol against certain people the Lazy C hates with a passion.

Time and again this is shown and still, Brancaccio denies the bias or the hate they hold for elected officials like David Madore, Tom Mielke and yes, mostly Don Benton.

Mayor Leavitt and C-Tran Declare Jihad

by lewwaters

911 037We woke up to horror 12 years ago today. The worst terrorist attack in history had just occurred on the East Coast and we on the West Coast shook the sleep out of our eyes to view the horror in the media reports.

12 years later, we have changed leadership at many levels, sacrificed thousands of our own people fighting terror around the globe, but terror remains.

To a lesser degree, we have our own terror ongoing in Clark County. No, people are not being killed by suicide bombers, but it a form of terror as citizens are being ignored by an ever encroaching political ruling class to circumvent votes of the people and impose a costly project and its cost on them.

Lou Brancaccio Should Be Cleaning Toilets

by lewwaters

This was a bitter election campaign… [I]t felt like there was an opportunity to come together, to extend a hand rather than point a finger. So is there an opportunity now to stop the shouting and the name-calling, end the fist-pumping? I think so. But the window for this kind of thing is always open for only a short time. We’ll all need to take advantage of it quickly. The Columbian would love to cover a coming together.” – Lou Brancaccio, November 8, 2008

Lou Brancaccio CountYes, Lou was elated at the Democrats victory back in 2008 as were all Democrats it seemed. To watch them once they seized total control of the country, “America came together” as was expressed on a hand written sign set up outside of the Democrats Victory Party at the Vancouver Hilton that night.

Fast forward to 2013 and even though the national election was somehow in their favor, by hook or crook as the saying goes, locally Lou’s efforts to demean Republican candidates and incumbents to sway the election towards his beloved Democrats had failed. Overwhelmingly, voters throughout the county voted to elect Republicans in all but a couple races.

Boppin’ Bo’s Music Fest & Cruise-In 4 Vets

by lewwaters

Doing it Again – For the Vets

Bullit 1 Peeling out, burning rubber, smokin’ the tires, all music to the ears of America’s youth years ago as we cruised the main drag, showing off our ride and just hanging out at the local burger joint with the other kids and listening to the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Ronny and the Daytona’s and more. A tradition largely lost today as raw horsepower has been replaced by computer controls.

The tradition lives again as Boppin’ Bo’s Malt Shop and Grill at Vancouver Plaza will be hosting a Music Fest & Cruise-In in support of the Clark County Veterans Court, Sept. 14, 2013.

People packed Boppin’ Bo’s last May 18 for 4 hours of entertainment, cool cars and of course, to enjoy a taste of unique American cuisine, a California Dreamin’ Burger, a Lucy Grilled Cheese or even a Graceland Special, a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Former Deputy Prosecutors Effort to Intimidate County Commissioner Madore Fails

by lewwaters

This blog no longer supports David Madore and calls upon him to resign immediately!

David Madore

Commissioner Madore

It is well known that the three most hated people in Clark County by those desiring to saddle the struggling middle class with more a burden to fund and construct an extension of Portland, Oregon’s financially troubled light rail is Sen. Don Benton (R 17th) and County Commissioners Tom Mielke and David Madore.

While no doubt Sen. Benton remains the single most hated person, likely in the entire state by the powers that be and the local paper of record, the Lazy C, Commissioner Madore is proving to be a close second with them.

Their hate of Commissioner Mielke seems to be on hold for the moment as it appears they may be trying to use him as a wedge, but their hate is there none the less.
