49th Legislative District 2016 Election

by lewwaters

With the announcement of seven-term Democrat, Jim Moeller not running for another term, the election takes an interesting turn in position 2, 49th Legislative District and as happens in other vacated seats, there is no shortage of hopefuls vying to succeed Moeller as he hopes to unseat 3rd Congressional District Representative, Jaime Herrera Beutler after abandoning his announced run for Lt. Governor.

Makes Sense

by lewwaters

If Sharon Wylie, Jim Moeller and Annette Cleveland all agree that only “some of the things they do makes sense,” does that mean they realize some of the other things they do make no sense at all?

Don’t you agree it is time we elected people that will work to do things that “make sense” all of the time?

Makes Sense?

by lewwaters

Words spoken by Washington State Representative Sharon Wylie (D. 49) during a February 19, 2014 Tele-Town Hall held by her and fellow Democrats, Representative Jim Moeller and State Senator Annette Cleveland

Does she mean that they think the rest of things they do makes no sense?

Democrats Waging War Against the Middle Class in Court

by lewwaters

Poor ManThe middle class in Washington State was struck a cruel blow yesterday when the State Supreme Court ruled against citizens and sided with Democrats and Education Union Groups in finding unconstitutional citizen initiatives requiring the state legislature to reach a 2/3 supermajority vote in order to raise our taxes.

Most telling is just who the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, filed shortly after voters for the 4th time approved the requirement of a 2/3 supermajority in I-1053 in 2010.

In addition to the League of Education Voters and the Washington Education Association we also see Representative Laurie Jinkins (D. 27th); Representative Jamie Pedersen (D. 43rd); Representative Deb Eddy (D. 48th); Representative Sam Hunt (D. 22nd); Representative Jim Moeller (D. 49th); Representative Timm Ormsby (D. 3rd); Representative Eric Pettigrew (D. 37th); Representative Chris Reykdal (D. 22nd); Representative Cindy Ryu (D. 32nd); Representative Mike Sells (D. 38th) and State Senator David Frockt (46th) listed as plaintiffs against middle class citizens of Washington State.

Jim Moeller was quoted in the pages of the Columbian saying, “The constitutional legality of the supermajority has gone unresolved for many years, and I’m really pleased that the court has finally settled the issue.”

49th Legislative District Legislators AWOL When It Matters

by lewwaters

DSC00244Washington State 49th Legislative District is probably one of the most liberal districts in the state if not the most liberal. A conservative Republican candidate doesn’t stand a chance of being elected in the 49th as all that seems to matter is that ‘D’ behind a candidate’s name, evidenced by the reelection of Jim Moeller 5 times, even though he openly holds constituents in deep disdain, passing ridiculous taxes that get overturned by citizen initiative and even suing constituents to invalidate their votes when he disagrees with them.

Moeller seems to think his reelection and the election of Sharon Wylie, married to Vancouver City Attorney Ted Gathe, even the election of inexperienced Annette Cleveland to the State Senate over Eileen Qutub in 2012, an experienced former legislator from Oregon (just like Wylie) grants them some sort of carte blanche to just do as they please, very proud of the fact that his party has held a lock on state government for over a decade.

But let’s face it, you find the dead, rotting carcass of a road kill raccoon and run it in the 49th as a Democrat and it would get elected by at least 60%, voters not looking at anything but party affiliation.

Columbian Gets It Wrong Again, In Favor of a Democrat – Updated

by lewwaters

Newspaper 2Once again we see the Columbian living up to their reputation of being the daily newsletter for the Democrat Party, hard pressed to give credit to Republicans for their work and crediting it to the newest, least experienced State Senator recently elected in the 49th Legislative District, Annette Cleveland, who’s main experience seems to be her boasting of coming from an ILWU family.

At about 6 AM this very morning, the Columbian posted online Tax bill brings lawmakers together with the claim,

“Senate Bill 5325, which seeks to add Clark County to a list of “rural” counties that receive .09 percent of their sales taxes back each year, has received support from both Democrats and Republicans from Southwest Washington. House Bill 1553 is the companion bill.”

“Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, sponsored the Senate bill with three Republicans.”

Smoke & Mirrors Offered

by lewwaters

Moeller, Wylie Townhall

How many years have we been telling especially Moeller what is important to us and being ignored?

How many times have said the 2/3 supermajority for tax increases is important to us only to have Moeller join in a lawsuit against us to invalidate our votes on it?

When was the last time either Jim Moeller or Sharon Wylie gave a damn about anything other than furthering the leftist agenda?

If You Needed Another Reason to Vote Out Democrats

by lewwaters

For all of the bluster we hear from the likes of Democrat 49th Legislative District Representative Jim Moeller, Sharon Wylie and candidate for the Senate Annette Cleveland, the Seattle P.I. ran an article comparing the richest and poorest cities in the state.

Vancouver’s 49th district, fully under Democrat majority ranks 46 out of 60 with a median family income of $55,674, about $7,000 BELOW the national median family income of $62,735.

Union Rage or Experience? Our Choice

by lewwaters

Washington’s 49th Legislative District is fairly well known as a stronghold for liberal Democrats on par with the Puget Sound. Democrats in the 49th continue to be elected time and again, in spite of it also having some of the highest taxes, highest unemployment rate and lags behind the rest of the state.

With the announcement from State Senator Craig Pridemore that he was not going to seek reelection, Democrats have enlisted and promote Annette Cleveland to run for that open seat. But, who is Annette Cleveland? What does she have to offer us? What political experience does she bring to the campaign?

In answer to the last two questions, very little other than her claims of assisting the Vancouver Chamber, C-TRAN and supporting far left Democrat Patty Murray at WSU.

With a résumé that thin, we have very little to go on other than what we hear her say in her campaign speeches, such as her description of what formed her “Foundational Beliefs” from her 2012 Clark County Democrat convention speech

Lone Judge Invalidates “All political power is inherent in the people”

by lewwaters

Fringe Democrats, The League of Education Voters and the Washington Education Association have won the first round in the battle to overturn the clearly stated will of the people in Washington State by ruling today that I-1053, the fourth time the people of our state have voted in the 2/3 majority requirement for the legislature to increases taxes as “unconstitutional.”

Our state constitution, Article 1, Section 1 says, “All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.”

Note, it says “ALL,” not some or only part, but “ALL political power is inherent in the people.”

The government receives power from us, not the other way around.

I-1053 passed easily statewide by a 64% vote. In our county, it passed by an even larger margin, slightly over 71%. Even a liberal newspaper as the Seattle Times editorialized, State’s two-thirds rule on taxes should be retained as did our own Columbian with, Two-thirds approval for tax increases is necessary for low-performing Legislature.

Clearly, the people spoke loud and clear on this desire in 1993, 1998, 2007 and 2010.

But, public unions and fringe Democrats like 49th legislative district rep. Jim Moeller, who readily joined the lawsuit to thwart the will of voters, both in the state and his district, have taken it upon themselves to give us the middle finger.

Unions Pump Money Into Annette Cleveland Campaign

by lewwaters

I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised to see unions already pouring money into 49th Legislative District State Senate candidate, Democrat Annette Cleveland, lobbyist, Democrat activist and regional campaign staffer for US Senator Patty Murray. After all, we know unions always support Democrats, especially public unions, knowing their taxpayer paid benefits, wages and pensions will be protected, whether private sector taxpayers are hurt financially or not.

As is seen in this portion of the first page from her PDC report, unions are her primary donors, along with wife of County Commission candidate. Joe Tanner.

If you don’t realize how unions look to Democrats like Ms. Cleveland for supporting them over the private sector, bear in mind that the 49th Legislative District she hopes to be elected to is in the 4th straight year of double digit unemployment and view the claim made on her behalf by the Washington Public Employees Association PAC below.
