Climate of Vitriol?

by lewwaters

It shouldn’t be surprising to see our local newspaper, the Lazy C aka the Columbian, using the tragic murders of five staff members at The Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Md. This past Thursday, June 28, 2018. It is what they do, following the admonition set years ago by leftwing Rahm Emanuel, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste.”

Following that line, we see Opinion Editor Greg Jayne pen Deadly attack on newspaper terrifying – and inspiring where he editorializes on the shooting, pointing out how within hours of the attack, the newspaper in Maryland published their paper in spite of the tragedy.

I have to agree that getting their paper out in spite of such a tragedy, losing five colleagues and undergoing the criminal investigation of the event is a display of dedication on their part.

But then Jayne had to go off on how essential a free press is and pointing fingers about the “Climate of Vitriol” the country is currently embroiled in.

Editors, Politicians and Bocce Ball, Oh My!

by lewwaters

Bocce AdIt seems our esteemed editor of the local Lazy C, ol Lefty Lou Brancaccio himself, hosted a Bocce Ball Tournament at his home recently that has drawn notice for the guests in attendance. Or, as Lou describes it, Bocce bedlam

And no, it isn’t those of us often critical of the paper and Liberal Democrats raising their eyebrow over it, but a prominent member of C3G2, Michele Wollert that senses a conflict of interest in an editor hosting those he is also expected to be critical of for fun and frivolity into his home.

On the C3G2 facebook page Michele asks;

Lefty Lou and C3G2’s Overblown Jubilation

by lewwaters

Benton, Columbian Hate HeadlineFrom the excitement and gleeful comments both under Lazy C articles and over on C3G2 concerning State Senator Don Benton’s announcement that he will not seek a 6th term, you might believe the man simply evaporated from the face of the earth, instead of just announcing not seeking another term.

Lefty Lou Brancaccio is predictably beside himself as he penned a special Press Talk editorial today, Monday February 1, 2016, the announcement coming out after his usual Saturday smearing of those “M&M Boys” or Benton.

Will Lefty’s One Man ‘Putsch’ Backfire?

by lewwaters

Brancaccio GoebbelsI can only imagine the disappointment felt by Lazy C editor, ol Lefty Lou Brancaccio as a major terrorist attack in Paris France last week pushed his weekly rant against County Councilor David Madore back one week.

Sorry Lou, but there really are things more important than your personal vendetta.

Be that as it may, ol Lefty postponed his weekly rant, the 90th Press Talk editorial denigrating Madore to today to pile on a matter from nearly a month ago that had Lou and the rest down at the Lazy C all charged up on the eve of the Nov. 3 election, an email sent by Madore to County Manager Mark McCauley that left Mark feeling insecure in his position as one of the ‘reporters’ writing was seen throughout the day feeding rumors to a facebook group set up after hopes of a recall fell flat.

Good Governance and Rumor Central

by lewwaters

McKenna 3It’s no secret that County Councilor David Madore is heavily despised by the left, evidenced by smears from the facebook group “Clark County Citizens for Good Governance” as well as the local newspaper of record and daily mouthpiece for the Democrat Party, the Columbian, better known here as the “Lazy C.”

And face it, some of that disdain is brought on by Madore’s own conduct, but even this bull in a china shop manner does not merit anywhere near the vitriol and abject hatred seen from both.

I always felt it strange that they labeled themselves with “Good Governance” as the one-sided view promoted there does not approach good governance, but more one-party rule.

Searching around a bit, I stumbled across an Australian site: WHAT IS GOOD GOVERNANCE?

Lazy C Joins ‘Ban The Flag’

by lewwaters

Confederate Flag OffendsI guess not unexpected to see the local Democrat Party mouthpiece jump on board the “Ban The Confederate Flag” nonsense stirred up after the horrific shooting and murder of 9 innocent people at the AME Church in Charleston. After all, they subscribe to several hate rants fostered by Liberals.

But I also couldn’t help but notice the lone comment under their article (at the time of this writing) and the seething hatred contained it, a liberals means of combating hate by being even more hateful.

Fran Hammond · Top Commenter · Vancouver, Washington who says: “Those refusing to voice their view on this issue have already let all know where they stand. They are pandering to their bigoted ‘conservative’ base.”

Lazy C’s Rice Goes Petty

by lewwaters

Okay, I get that all down at the Lazy C, Stephanie Rice and Lou Brancaccio especially, hate State Senator Don Benton (R 17) with a passion. We all get it and know they will stop at nothing to embarrass or demean the 5 times elected Senator. But this latest smear effort takes the cake.

Communication is key, spelling is secondary

Yes, Benton did the dastardly deed, he misspelled something.

And, we all know the Lazy C has never misspelled anything in print or online, right?

Well, as a matter of fact, no their spell checks aren’t so clean.

Newspaper Bullies and Hypocrites (updated)

by lewwaters

Columbian FishwrapBy now we all are aware of Lazy C editor Lefty Lou Brancaccio’s bullying and demeaning of those he despises every week in his so called editorials.

But this sort of over the top bullying from him is not something new, he’s done it many times before.

In fact, this blog called him on it back in November 2010 when a ‘Moderate’ Republican, the very thing he also calls for from Republicans, was the target of his vitriol over announcing he had cancelled his subscription: Lou Brancaccio and Chicago Bullying Tactics?

Will the Lazy C Ignore Benton – Rivers Reconciliation?

by lewwaters

Rivers-BentonIn spite of Lou Brancaccio’s many denials, the Lazy C (the Columbian) is noted for their left leaning bias, making them more of a daily newsletter for the Democrat Party than an objective newspaper in their political articles.

Very few Republicans receive much of a positive nod, especially if they are conservative Republicans and not the spineless RINO’s selling their souls to liberals on many issues of importance to us.

And yes, there are some exceptions or at least, an appearance of an exception. Senator Ann Rivers is such an exception in that they do not bash and denigrate her to the degree they have others, such as Senator Don Benton and County Commissioner David Madore.

They were real quick to jump on the disagreement and exchange of words between Senators Rivers and Benton, gleefully painting Don Benton once again as an out of control monster.

Sanctioning Commissioner Boldt Was the Right Thing for the Clark County GOP To Do

by lewwaters

It was just days ago that the Columbian pretended as if they just now discovered that the Clark County GOP had sanctioned one of their own for his frequent strays from conservatism and selling out our conservative interests to side with liberal Democrats, going against his campaign promises of supporting conservative values. In a nutshell, he frequently voted against the best interests of the citizens in order to further the liberal Democrat agenda.

I have been one of the few willing to stand up for the Clark County GOP, even as party leaders now cower and seem prepared to throw open the doors and re-embrace Marc Boldt, to be decided this Tuesday I am told. Republicans, spineless as they now are, have no need to appease liberal Democrats or suck up to the Columbian, who cannot find a good word to say about them, except for those RINO’s that are more liberal than conservative, such as the current 3rd Congressional District Representative.

In my expressions of defense of the GOP I have made several references to a scathing post against Marc Boldt and why he deserved to be sanctioned that I wrote back in November 2011, but never posted, due to his one time vote against the baseball stadium admissions tax. Below is that post in its entirety with a prediction I made then bolded.

Once again, The Columbian’s Bias is on Full Display

by lewwaters

Just when I think the Columbian and Stephanie Rice are becoming more the centrist, objective newspaper the region deserves, they throw out another hatchet job against the Republicans.

I am amazed that nearly 4 months after Clark County Commissioner Marc Boldt was ‘sanctioned’ by the GOP Executive board, over his abandoning the party platform, endorsing Democrats over Republicans an issuing a misleading robocall on C-Tran’s Proposition 1 leading up to last November’s election, the Columbian acts surprised with their hatchet job, Why was Boldt sanctioned by GOP?

The fallacy of this smear is in the fact that the Columbian has admitted to viewing my blog frequently and this sanction was prominently mentioned in my November 29, 2011 post Admissions Tax Defeated, Proposal Does Not Even Receive a Vote.

I don’t for a minute believe I had knowledge of this and the Columbian did not. Not since I first learned of it on facebook and spoke with GOP Chair Brandon Vick. He had intended it be kept private, but one of the board members leaked it out.

I had written a scathing post that I decided not to post when Boldt did not second Commissioner Steve Stuart’s motion for the admission tax, in hopes that Marc was returning to his roots claimed of being a conservative.
