Home Rule Charter Debate

by lewwaters

Last evening was the first debate on the Clark County Home Rule Charter, held at the Battle Ground Community Center and sponsored by Clark County Citizens United and the Clark County Farm Forestry Association. As would be expected, in spite of efforts for a calm, civil exchange, it did get a little heated.

I applaud both Clark County Citizens United and the Clark County Farm Forestry Association for hosting and for their efforts to hold a civil discussion.

You may view the full unedited video of the event at Home Rule Charter Debate

If you have had trouble viewing it on Google Drive, Reality Clark County blog has posted it to You Tube with my permission.

Feel free to link to or share as you please, regardless of your view on the Charter.

Of note, all three County Commissioners, Tom Mielke, David Madore and Ed Barnes attended as spectators.

Moeller’s Response to Climate Debate Challenge

by lewwaters

As most know, Vancouver City Council member Bill Turlay, a retired US Navy aircraft pilot, challenged Washington State Rep. Jim Moeller (D 49) to an open debate on the claims of man-made global warming, climate change when it is shown the earth has been cooling instead of warming up. Last evening Mr. Turlay told of the sort of response he received from Moeller,

I wonder what his next excuse will be to not accept the challenge, even though he claims he and his fellow Democrats “have science… and lots of it” to support their view?

Was Obama Sleeping During The Debate?

by lewwaters

As the dust settles and Democrats cry in their beer, everyone now knows that without his teleprompter, Barack Obama is lost. His performance in Wednesday Evenings Debate in Denver was one of the worst performances by an incumbent president ever. It is being reported that 67% of viewers gave the debate to Mitt Romney who in effect, cleaned Obama’s clock.

Even Democrats are coming our disappointed. Bombastic James Carvell said, “Mitt Romney came with a chainsaw.”

Chris Matthews, a staunch Obama supporter didn’t feel that tingle up his leg watching the debate. Instead, he admonished Obama to start watching cable TV to learn what is going on.

Michael Moore nearly came unglued on twitter saying at one point, “This is what happens when u pick John Kerry as your debate coach.”

Andrew Sullivan labeled the debate “a disaster” for Obama.

Probst Won’t Debate Benton

by lewwaters

Tim Probst and Sen. Don Benton

Tim Probst, hoping to unseat 4-time Senator Don Benton has been making a lot of noise, slamming Senator Benton and raising malicious claims, the same tired old malicious claims raised election after election against Senator Benton. Democrats seem to hope that now, boyish faced Probst can make the allegations stick and impress voters in the 17th Legislative District he is the better candidate to represent them.

Issues seem to allude Probst in his usual negative campaigning, not even taking a public stance on the largest issues affecting Southwest Washington, the CRC & Portland, Oregon’s financially plagues light rail being forced into Clark County.

Stepping back and looking reveals what every voter needs to see, that Tim Probst is not who they need for State Senator in the 17th.

Tim shows this now as after all of his negative campaigning, in violation of the very ‘Clean Campaign Pledge’ he made a fuss over his signing, he will not even meet Senator Benton for a live debate, moderated by former 18th Legislative District State Senator, Joe Zarelli to be hosted on Couv.com.
