Union Rage or Experience? Our Choice

by lewwaters

Washington’s 49th Legislative District is fairly well known as a stronghold for liberal Democrats on par with the Puget Sound. Democrats in the 49th continue to be elected time and again, in spite of it also having some of the highest taxes, highest unemployment rate and lags behind the rest of the state.

With the announcement from State Senator Craig Pridemore that he was not going to seek reelection, Democrats have enlisted and promote Annette Cleveland to run for that open seat. But, who is Annette Cleveland? What does she have to offer us? What political experience does she bring to the campaign?

In answer to the last two questions, very little other than her claims of assisting the Vancouver Chamber, C-TRAN and supporting far left Democrat Patty Murray at WSU.

With a résumé that thin, we have very little to go on other than what we hear her say in her campaign speeches, such as her description of what formed her “Foundational Beliefs” from her 2012 Clark County Democrat convention speech

UPDATED: Qutub Harasser Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor Harassment

by lewwaters

Word has reached Clark County Conservative that Gary Owen, who was arrested in August on suspicion of two counts of malicious harassment, a Class C felony, has plea bargained his offense down to misdemeanor harassment.

Owen was arrested and taken into custody after the Clark County Sherriff’s Office traced two vile, threatening emails sent to GOP State Senate candidate, Eileen Qutub to him.

He had initially pleaded not guilty.

An email received from Mrs. Qutub’s campaign said in part,

“Gary Owen has been charged for the death threats against Eileen Qutub. He was arrested on two Class C felonies of Malicious Harassment. He first pleaded not guilty and has now pleaded guilty to a single count of misdemeanor harassment. Eileen Qutub will be given an opportunity to speak as the victim and she intends to do so.”

2012 Election Recommendations

by lewwaters

The following is how I intend to vote or would if I lived in another district. You may not agree with everything I say and I recommend everybody research the candidates and positions to satisfy their own views. I may miss some elections, so make sure you research them and know who and what you are voting for.

PRESIDENT

After four years of constant failures from Barack Obama and in spite of the specious jobs report released just prior to this election, Mitt Romney will receive my vote. It’s not that I am all that impressed with Romney, he certainly is not my ideal candidate, but Obama has been that bad.

With a switch in power in the Senate and retaining the House, maybe we can begin undoing some of the far left agenda Obama has strapped us with.

Lou Brancaccio’s “War on Women”

by lewwaters

There is a reason pencils all come with erasers. We all make mistakes and get something wrong from time to time and responsible people will correct errors they make. None of us are above making errors and getting something wrong or even relaying something we thought we heard that actually was not what the other person said.

Newspapers especially have a commitment to the public to ‘get it right’ and often we see retractions or corrections published when they don’t. Let’s face it, reporters are only human and make mistakes and when such an error is pointed out, it is incumbent upon them to make such corrections.

Apparently not at the Columbian, though.

We all know the Columbian, the unofficial daily newsletter for the CRC & Democrat Party and their bias towards the left. But the email copied to me between Republican candidate for the 49th Legislative District, Carolyn Crain and Columbian editor Lou Brancaccio just boggles my mind.

Arrest Made Over Email Threats Against GOP Candidate (Updated)

by lewwaters

Earlier, I had written a post that I took down, leading some to wonder why I revised it and possibly thinking I was changing information. I said then that the reasons would be revealed shortly. I hope this short post will explain to those who were wondering. The original contained reference to this incident that was premature in releasing on my part as I had mistakenly assumed the man was already arrested.

I received word by phone early this morning that a person, 50 year-old Gary Owen, who had been sending threatening emails to Republican 49th Legislative District candidate Eileen Qutub had been arrested on suspicion of two counts of malicious harassment, a Class C felony.

Owen, obviously not a supporter, indicates extreme anger over receiving a campaign mailer in the mail and instead of just throwing it out, as a sane person would do, sent the following email,

The Definition of Insanity: Voting For Democrats and Hoping For A Change

by lewwaters

In just a few days, we all should be receiving out ballots to vote in the Top-Two Primary Election to decide out of all of the candidates vying for varying offices just which two advances on to the November General Election. With this being a Presidential Election year we will see several names to select from, some we know and more than likely many more we don’t know.

But we voters will make our selections known, most of us casting our ballots in hopes of seeing the dismal economy and high unemployment we continue to see in Clark County change. Candidates, some incumbents hoping to stay in office and challengers hoping to replace them will try to form a message they hope will resonate with us.

Democrat or Republican, we’re going to hear they want to cut our taxes, create jobs, change how things work and much more. None will come out and actually say they intend to raises our taxes or that they have no power to create jobs other than to back off of government regulations, taxes and fees that are currently stifling job growth for so long.

Lone Judge Invalidates “All political power is inherent in the people”

by lewwaters

Fringe Democrats, The League of Education Voters and the Washington Education Association have won the first round in the battle to overturn the clearly stated will of the people in Washington State by ruling today that I-1053, the fourth time the people of our state have voted in the 2/3 majority requirement for the legislature to increases taxes as “unconstitutional.”

Our state constitution, Article 1, Section 1 says, “All political power is inherent in the people, and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.”

Note, it says “ALL,” not some or only part, but “ALL political power is inherent in the people.”

The government receives power from us, not the other way around.

I-1053 passed easily statewide by a 64% vote. In our county, it passed by an even larger margin, slightly over 71%. Even a liberal newspaper as the Seattle Times editorialized, State’s two-thirds rule on taxes should be retained as did our own Columbian with, Two-thirds approval for tax increases is necessary for low-performing Legislature.

Clearly, the people spoke loud and clear on this desire in 1993, 1998, 2007 and 2010.

But, public unions and fringe Democrats like 49th legislative district rep. Jim Moeller, who readily joined the lawsuit to thwart the will of voters, both in the state and his district, have taken it upon themselves to give us the middle finger.

Unions Pump Money Into Annette Cleveland Campaign

by lewwaters

I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised to see unions already pouring money into 49th Legislative District State Senate candidate, Democrat Annette Cleveland, lobbyist, Democrat activist and regional campaign staffer for US Senator Patty Murray. After all, we know unions always support Democrats, especially public unions, knowing their taxpayer paid benefits, wages and pensions will be protected, whether private sector taxpayers are hurt financially or not.

As is seen in this portion of the first page from her PDC report, unions are her primary donors, along with wife of County Commission candidate. Joe Tanner.

If you don’t realize how unions look to Democrats like Ms. Cleveland for supporting them over the private sector, bear in mind that the 49th Legislative District she hopes to be elected to is in the 4th straight year of double digit unemployment and view the claim made on her behalf by the Washington Public Employees Association PAC below.
