Moeller’s Response to Climate Debate Challenge

by lewwaters

As most know, Vancouver City Council member Bill Turlay, a retired US Navy aircraft pilot, challenged Washington State Rep. Jim Moeller (D 49) to an open debate on the claims of man-made global warming, climate change when it is shown the earth has been cooling instead of warming up. Last evening Mr. Turlay told of the sort of response he received from Moeller,

I wonder what his next excuse will be to not accept the challenge, even though he claims he and his fellow Democrats “have science… and lots of it” to support their view?

Rep. Moeller Challenged to Public Climate Debate

by lewwaters
Jim Moeller

Jim Moeller

Democrat 49th legislative district Representative Jim Moeller is well known for his arrogance and “know it all” attitude and loves to portray himself and his fellow Democrats as the only people in the state who care about anything.

Such is the case back on January 8, 2014 when he commented to a Lazy C article, “Republicans on climate panel want more time.”

Moeller said, “Yes regretfully, only the Democrats seem to believe in doing something about climate change. It’s ‘nice’ to try and include the Republicans in the discussion about what to do but they have to look out for those who make money on pollution. The Democrats only have science – and lots of it.”

President Eisenhower Warned Us, Why Didn’t We Listen?

by lewwaters

On January 17, 1961 outgoing President Dwight D. Eisenhower was televised giving one of his most famous and well known speeches. The 15 minute Farewell to the Nation is largely regarded today as the “Military Industrial Complex” speech due to one lone sentence warning us of an out of control industrial complex fueling our Military while the rest of the speech has been mostly discarded.

But within that speech President Eisenhower warned us of a far greater danger that we as a nation have ignored, having fallen prey to the claims of what he then labeled a “Scientific Technological Elite” and how public policy could easily become captive to that.

How Many Jobs Did Al Gore’s ‘Mistake’ Cost Us?

by lewwaters

Most of us were astonished to hear former vice president and failed presidential candidate, and long time ‘green energy’ advocate Al Gore Jr. come out and admit that his early support of ethanol based fuels, made from a major food source, corn, was largely based on an effort to gain votes for his run for the presidency.

Gore, labeling his early support a “mistake” indicated he was

“more concerned with garnering votes from farmers in Tennessee and Iowa than with what was best for the environment.”

Al Gore: Votes, not science, led me to back corn ethanol

Gore went on to say,

“Corn ethanol is not a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. The process of converting corn into ethanol is highly energy intensive and also requires using a food crop for fuel.”

While we cannot forget the record food prices we saw in 2008 or the protests around the world over shrinking food supplies, I am particularly struck by the comment, “ethanol is not a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.”

Save The Planet, Eat Your Dog

by lewwaters

In the ever-expanding quest to reduce carbon and save the planet from the onslaught of global warming, forget studying cow flatulence, riding your bicycle or even recycling your SUV.

Robert and Brenda Vale, 2 New Zealand “specialists in sustainable living at Victoria University of Wellington,” have released their “study” claiming “the carbon pawprint of a pet dog is more than double that of a gas-guzzling sports utility vehicle.”

John Barrett of the Stockholm Environment Institute in York, Britain, was asked by New Scientist magazine to confirm the results. Calculating “eco-pawprints” with his own data, he arrived at “essentially the same results.

Says Barrett, “Owning a dog really is quite an extravagance, mainly because of the carbon footprint of meat.”

Cat owners aren’t off the hook either, according to the Vales. They also claim, “Cats have an eco-footprint of about 0.15 hectares, slightly less than driving a Volkswagen Golf for a year, while two hamsters equates to a plasma television and even the humble goldfish burns energy equivalent to two mobile telephones.”

The Vale’s research also concludes, “pets environmental impact is not limited to their carbon footprint, as cats and dogs devastate wildlife, spread disease and pollute waterways.”

Animal rights advocates and lovers aren’t impressed.

Sylvie Comont, owner of seven cats and two dogs says, “I think the love we have for our animals and what they contribute to our lives outweighs the environmental considerations.”

Reha Huttin, president of France’s 30 Million Friends animal rights foundation claims, “the human impact of eliminating pets would be equally devastating.” Reha says, “Pets are anti-depressants, they help us cope with stress, they are good for the elderly”

The Vales aren’t completely anti-animal, though. They also note that you can “offset” the carbon pawprint, or clawprint, by making sure your animal is dual purpose.

Robert Vale says, “Get a hen, which offsets its impact by laying edible eggs, or a rabbit, prepared to make the ultimate environmental sacrifice by ending up on the dinner table. Rabbits are good, provided you eat them.”

Am I the only one ready to put this farce of AGW behind us and start living our lives again?

Gore-Bull Warming Hits Clark County … Again!

by lewwaters

After the 12 Days of Christmas Artic Storm we all endured, resulting in record snowfalls for our area, delayed trash and recycling pick-up and a real mess getting around, we may have thought we were over storms.

Early Friday morning, January 2, we saw yet another snowfall and another mess on our roads that cleared up pretty much by the weekend.

Tonight, early evening, January 4, we saw yet another snowfall come down resulting in about an inch of accumulation on my patio. The photo below was taken by me at 7 PM this evening.

Isn’t it about time we woke up to the fallacy of ‘Gore-Bull Warming’ and got on with our lives, unafraid that we are frying and causing the planet to expire?

We have ample evidence that Al Gore Jr. is just plain wrong and his real motive is imposing Socialism on us;

2008 was the year man made global warming was disproved

Czech President Klaus ready to debate Gore on climate change

I could go on and on, but as is shown, the debate is far from over, as claimed by Al Gore and his minions.

While I agree that we should pollute as little as humanly possible, we need not jump off the deep end and give up our lives to the Socialist agenda that is using the man-made global warming scare to get us to give up even more of our liberties.

When I see Gore and the rest of his fearmongering climate change cabal giving up their jet airplanes, SUV’s and luxurious lifestyles, maybe I’ll lend a bit more credence to their claims. But, the real evidence is stacking up against them every day.

It is time we stopped falling for it and got back to enjoying our lives best we can.

Kennedy Snows Clark County

by lewwaters

rfk-jrAs I’m sure most Clark County residents know by now, we were recently treated to a visit by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who spoke before attendees at the second annual Southwest Washington Sustainability Conference this past Thursday evening, held at the Vancouver Convention Center.

Kennedy, a self styled resolute defender of the environment visited our fair city to lambaste us on the environment and charge President Bush as “the worst on environmental issues of any president we’ve had in our history.”

Kennedy told the audience, many of who paid over $300 to attend, “Americans [can] save the environment by unleashing the power of the free market.” Kennedy, one of the heirs to the vast Kennedy family fortune claimed, “There’s no stronger advocate for free-market capitalism than myself.”

He went on to compare “naysayers” to the Global Warming farce to “slave traders” in Britain over 200 years ago. He then went on to glorify the Industrial Revolution that expanded our economies after the abolition of slavery, apparently unaware that the very Industry he glorified depends heavily upon the very fuels, coal and oil, to fuel their output.

Ironic that he would state, “We don’t need to abolish carbon to understand it is the principal drag on American capitalism. We could be creating jobs in this country that can’t be outsourced,” in regards to alternative energy sources currently being explored by many.

Ironic because it is none other than Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who rails against coal use for generating electricity, yet opposes a windfarm in his own back yard in Nantucket Sound claiming it would cost twice as much as gas fired electricity, but also because, if you read between the lines, it would spoil his view and his private boating pleasure time, as well as other wealthy residents of the area.

Kennedy joins a growing list of hypocrites who advocate us giving up pleasures and lifestyle for the environment, while they lavish themselves in wasteful luxury at our expense. It is okay to erect such forms of electrical generation in our back yards, but not the back yard of the Royal Family of Kennedy!

How many “free market jobs” would be gained building 130 windmills and maintaining them?

He explains,

These turbines are less than six miles from shore and would be seen from Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Hundreds of flashing lights to warn airplanes away from the turbines will steal the stars and nighttime views. The noise of the turbines will be audible onshore. A transformer substation rising 100 feet above the sound would house giant helicopter pads and 40,000 gallons of potentially hazardous oil.”

He then goes on to claim,

According to the Massachusetts Historical Commission, the project will damage the views from 16 historic sites and lighthouses on the cape and nearby islands. The Humane Society estimates the whirling turbines could every year kill thousands of migrating songbirds and sea ducks.”

But, views and migrating birds in other regions won’t have to give up something?

The Oregonian tells us of this visit, “RFK son faults Bush’s environmental practices,” neglecting that the Court Rejects Bush’s Signature Air Pollution Rule, angering some environmentalists who sided with President Bush on this act.

Frank O’Donnell, president of Clean Air Watch, who has been critical of the Bush administration in the past, supported this effort by President Bush to clean up the air back east, possible even in Kennedy’s own back yard.

Mr. O’Donnell said, “This is without a doubt the worst news of the year when it comes to air pollution.”

Yet, Kennedy would have us believe that it was Bush who abolished the central provision of the Clean Air Act, three years ago, making it ineffective!

Not wasting any effort at bashing President Bush and conservatives, Kennedy even invoked the need of the Fairness Doctrine saying, “We’re the best-entertained and least-informed people on the face of the Earth.”

Yet, who is it that stifles any honest discussion or evidence against their precious scam of Global Warming? You guessed it, Kennedy and his fellow environmentalist hypocrites! They do not want you informed, they want you indoctrinated in their view and their view only. They want you to give up liberty and freedom while they keep theirs.

Don’t be fooled by these people. It is not saving the planet they want, but Control of the planet.

I wouldn’t doubt that Kennedy, like other environmentalists and Democrats who champion us giving up our lifestyles and paying taxes or “carbon credits” to them, flew into PDX by a fuel drinking private jet, lavishly laid out for maximum comfort to him and the few people who may have flew with him.

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he arrived at the Convention Center by luxurious SUV or limousine too.
