Are We Ready to Scrap Capitalism for Socialism?

by lewwaters

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.” – Margaret Thatcher

Democratic Socialist of America

It seems many from the left have forgotten the lessons taught to us by history in regards to the old theory of a government based upon Socialism. Socialism is described by a dictionary definition as, “a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.”

The wording actually sounds fairly nice and manageable, but the reality is what has been intended since long ago by Karl Marx and the Marxist theory is, “a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism.”

Those advocating socialism often lecture us as to how fair it is, how we are all equal and we have equality in prosperity and life, escaping the bondage of capitalism where they claim only the wealthy ever prosper from the labors of the poorer workers.

Climate of Vitriol?

by lewwaters

It shouldn’t be surprising to see our local newspaper, the Lazy C aka the Columbian, using the tragic murders of five staff members at The Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Md. This past Thursday, June 28, 2018. It is what they do, following the admonition set years ago by leftwing Rahm Emanuel, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste.”

Following that line, we see Opinion Editor Greg Jayne pen Deadly attack on newspaper terrifying – and inspiring where he editorializes on the shooting, pointing out how within hours of the attack, the newspaper in Maryland published their paper in spite of the tragedy.

I have to agree that getting their paper out in spite of such a tragedy, losing five colleagues and undergoing the criminal investigation of the event is a display of dedication on their part.

But then Jayne had to go off on how essential a free press is and pointing fingers about the “Climate of Vitriol” the country is currently embroiled in.

Disputing Jayne’s “Indisputable Evidence”

by lewwaters

Egg on FaceThat the Lazy C despises Republicans is well known in these parts and is likely the only real “indisputable fact” in all of Southwest Washington. And let’s face it; the local Republican Party makes it very easy for them with their ineptness and underhanded shenanigans to cling to control of the county party over keeping people informed.

But, the Lazy C’s Greg Jayne, in finally admitting he is the Liberal we always believed him to be, should have done his homework before posting his latest Sunday editorial: “Republican Party abandoned its most worthy ideals,” where he pretty much seems to indicate anything worthy of them was only when they acted more Liberal than Democrats.

He laments how they deny Gorebull warming even though the Environmental Protection Agency was created by Republican Richard Nixon in 1970.

Media Ignores Their Own “Cognitive Dissonance”

by lewwaters

Egg on FaceAn interesting editorial in the Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 edition of the Lazy C by Greg Jayne, Lazy C Opinion Editor: Dislike those in government? Then stop electing them.

He sets the tone within the very first paragraph, “The problem, apparently, is cognitive dissonance. Sure, we have concerns about terrorism and the economy and health care, but when it comes to this country’s inability to tackle problems, the real issue is our inability to think straight.”

Since Jayne bases this screed on “Cognitive Dissonance,” we should know just what that means before going on. The simplest definition I found was, “the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change.”

Anti-Gun Nuts Going,, Well,, Nuts!

by lewwaters

Occupant Gun WarningOnce again tragedy has struck in yet another ‘Gun-Free Zone,’ this time in the small community of Roseburg, Oregon. Another unhinged person shot and killed people on the campus of Umpqua Community College.

For those that claim the campus was not ‘Gun-Free’ due to Oregon law, please recheck your sources as the laws on guns on campuses in Oregon is much more complicated than believed.

Be that as it may, tragedy struck and 10 people are dead, 9 innocents and the shooter with more wounded, hopefully to survive and regain their lives.

And as we see all too often, gun-haters come out of the woodwork before any corpses are cold to blame guns, the NRA, the Second Amendment, Conservatives, everybody except the actual shooter.

Lazy C and Democrats, Consistently Inconsistent

by lewwaters

ConfusedIf you haven’t been keeping up on the current ‘kerfuffle’s’ ongoing in politics locally, the Lazy C’s Greg Jayne reminds of them in his Sunday editorial, It’s hard to see the humor in strident political agendas.

While primarily pointing fingers at the current “write-in” effort in the county council chair race, Jayne does mention the recent matter between the Clark County Democrat Party and the Young Democrats of Clark County when they endorsed separate candidates, the party getting behind Democrat Mike Dalesandro and the Young Democrats endorsing Independent Marc Boldt who has previously ran and won elections as a Republican.

I’m particularly struck by that as I read over on the C3G2 facebook page from Roy Valo, “Yeah, in the Dems we came up with a logical compromise that both the CCDCC and the YDs were satisfied with because we sat down and discussed the issue like adults.”

They dealt with it like adults, huh?

The Push Is On! Updated

by lewwaters

Greg Jayne facetiously notes, in his Sunday Oct. 12, 2014 column, the Democrats Home Rule opposition from 2002 and mentions how things have changed since then.

Maybe he should have used some more recent quotes displaying opposition to the Home Rule Charter:

“When a wild goose chase clearly defines itself before it even begins, responsible travelers will decline to embark on the journey. Such is the case before Clark County commissioners as they ponder another expedition into the well-known futility of changing county government to a home rule charter.”

“But, as The Columbian wrote recently in an editorial, exploring the idea of a home rule charter would be a wild goose chase, seeking to solve problems that are nonexistent. This time, we’ll opt for a different animal analogy and reiterate that it would be a waste of time, money, and energy only to have voters beat this horse again.” Columbian Editorial, In Our View: Solutions … No Problems; March 19, 2013

Of Chastising and Picking Fights

by lewwaters

Boxer WomenReading Greg Jayne’s column, Clark County Republicans may be picking wrong fight and the reader comments this morning, once again I am left pondering, why is it that only Republicans are expected to be “moderate?” Where is the call for Democrats to move away from the left towards the center?

Jayne opines about the recent Open Letter from the Clark County Republican Party to 3rd Congressional District Congresswoman, Jaime Herrera Beutler and her caving into vote to approve ending the partial government shutdown and approving what appears to be an open-ended raising of the county’s debt limit, essentially doing away with any limit and abdicating congressional authority over the debt to the office of the president.

Jayne correctly notes the abhorrent amount of our national debt and the very likely collapse should we not rein it in.

Greg Jayne Misses the Mark on Political Rancor

by lewwaters

Bush, Kill T-ShirtThe Lazy C’s Greg Jayne says in his column today, “That 2010 election, when Republicans took control of the House, served as a harbinger of the rancor that has followed in Washington, D.C.”

While I appreciate his editorials much more than the bombastic, vitriolic, hate everything right of Mao John Laird, I must take exception to that sentence. The real rancor started in earnest right after Al Gore lost to George W. Bush in 2000 and has not abated since.

From years of “Kill Bush” to erroneous cries of “stolen election,” Democrats went on an all out assault against anything Republican or remotely conservative.

Thoughts on the Lazy C’s New Editorial Page Editor

by lewwaters
Greg Jayne

Greg Jayne

Today, Sunday August 4, 2013, not a date that will live in infamy, but a day that marks a big change down at the local newspaper of record, the Columbian that I refer to as the Lazy C for their past efforts at ignoring much to promote a primarily leftist agenda, as we see the initial editorial of Greg Jayne as the newly installed Editorial Page Editor.

Jayne comes from the Sports pages of the Lazy C and since I don’t follow much about sports, I’ll take others words of how good he was covering sports. All I have heard was good concerning that.

But, he has left those days behind and assumed the position held for many years by the acerbic, acid penned John Laird, noted for his vitriolic attacks against citizens the owner of the paper would have liked to buy the paper or subscribe.

Greg Jayne would do well not to follow Laird’s example of frequently labeling those that hold a different view in such a denigrating manner, as did Laird.
