Let’s Talk Minimum Wage

by lewwaters

Money 2 Yes, it’s been in the news a lot lately. From SeaTac, Washington imposing their $15 an hour minimum, to Seattle’s Socialist city council critter, Kshama Sawant, who also advocated workers seize Boeing’s factories, run it “and shut down Boeing’s profit-making machine,” the notion has been implanted in people’s heads, just in time for the mid-term election.

As usual, the entirely socialist idea is coming primarily from Socialist Democrats as they once again try to mislead voters to turn the country more to their control as we keep sliding closer and closer to a full-blown Communist Nation.

And what with the Republicans in the U.S. Senate blocking the latest effort to forcibly increase a wage minimum in America, we can expect Democrats to make the most of it they possibly can, portraying themselves as so benevolent and seeking to protect workers while they paint Republicans as demonic, evil and uncaring, as usual.

Harry Reid Remarks on the Senate Filibuster

by lewwaters

Reid 1As expected, Senate majority leader, Democrat Harry Reid invoked the “nuclear option” ending filibusters against Obama’s activist judicial nomination.

Speaking on the Senate Filibuster, Reid said,

“Since 1790, the filibuster has been employed hundreds and hundreds of times.

Senators have used it to stand up to popular presidents. To block legislation. And yes – even to stall executive nominees.

The roots of the filibuster can be found in the Constitution and in the Senate rules.
Mr. President, the filibuster is a critical tool in keeping the majority in check. This central fact has been acknowledged and even praised by Senators from both parties.

Where Does the 14th Amendment Grant Dictatorial Power?

by lewwaters

Obama, DictatorThe latest effort to impose dictatorial control over the American people comes from Democrat Senate Leader out of Nevada, Harry Reid as he lends his voice to those from last year in calling on Obama to simply bypass congress and raise the nation’s debt as he sees fit, claiming he is granted that authority under the 14th amendment, passed shortly after the Civil War.

One of three ‘Reconstruction Amendments,’ the 14th is comprised of 5 sections primarily stating freed slaves were citizens of America with the full legal rights of any other citizen in the first three section and the 4th section basically laying out that the U.S. was not responsible for nor would pay any debts incurred by the Confederacy during the war.

Section 5 grants congress the power to enforce the amendment.

Section 4 is where Democrats now claim to have the authority for Obama to bypass congress on raising our public debt, claiming it says, “the validity of the public debt of the United States…shall not be questioned.”

In total, Section 4 says,

Allen West To Liberals, “Get The Hell Out of the USA”

by lewwaters

“We need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and my dear friend the chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain’t on the table. Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.”

Full speech here

Huffington Post reports, “Moments after the quote was mentioned on Twitter, former Reid spokesman Jim Manley responded via his own Twitter feed: ‘Me to allen west. You first asshole‘.”

Raising The Debt Ceiling is a Sign of “Leadership Failure”

by lewwaters

Once again, the 75th time since 1962, we have hit the limit on how much government is permitted to borrow. The argument is we must raise it again to prevent default and so government can pay the bills. What will happen if we do raise it yet again?

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.”

“Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

The Passing of America’s Last WW1 Veteran is Not for Politicizing!

by lewwaters

America recently lost her last surviving Veterans of World War One. Corporal Frank Buckles, who lied about his age to enlist in 1917, served as an Ambulance Driver in France, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2011. He was 110 years of age.

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, a Republican from his district in West Virginia, co-sponsored a bill to authorize his body to lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda after his passing. An honor usually reserved for heads of state, the honor was to recognize the passing of an era, all of our Veterans of that long ago conflict now gone, and not Cpl. Buckles himself.

A fitting honor in recognition of all who sacrificed their youth, time and endured injuries from that Great War as well as all of those who lives were lost.

I find it completely unacceptable now that the leadership of both major political parties, Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) are instead recommending a tribute to Buckles at Arlington National Cemetery.

Now You Speak Up, Congressman Baird?

by lewwaters

Brian Baird, Democrat congressman in Washington’s 3rd congressional district decided to hang it up and retire after this term, his 6th. For nearly all of his 12 years allegedly representing us in the 3rd C.D., he remained mostly loyal to his party, especially since Democrats seized control in the 2006 elections and Nancy Pelosi began her reign as Speaker of the House.

Baird is following in the footsteps of many who went before him. He wrote a book about his time in office, “Character, Politics and Responsibility: Restarting the Heart of the American Republic.”

Baird, well known for “official” congressional trips to exotic locales takes some pretty controversial stands in his book.

Democrats! Will They Ever Learn?

by lewwaters

Once again, the nation has made the folly of giving Democrats full control of the government and once again, they are poised to lose an election of historical proportions after a short time holding the reins of power.

As times before, many promises were made that fell hollow as they plunged the nation deeper into despair. Catchy slogans to win elections have shown themselves to be meaningless. FDR’s “New Deal,” LBJ’s “Great Society,” Carters “A Leader, For a Change,” Clinton’s “Putting People First” and now Obama’s “Change We Can Believe In” and “Yes We Can!” are giving way to “Change it back” and “No, you won’t” as poll after poll is showing that Tuesdays mid-term elections appear to be poised as blow-outs, placing the GOP back in congressional control.

“Don’t Vote,” More Feigned Democrat Outrage

by lewwaters

Ever mindful of Rahm Emanuel’s admonition of “never let a good crisis go to waste,” I see Democrats have launched a campaign of outrage over a short-lived ad from Nevada urging Latino’s “Don’t Vote” due to their votes be taken advantage of.

Mitch Stewart of, also known as Organizing for America sent out an email I received this morning titled “If you don’t fight back, they’ll get away with it,” implying the ad, created and ran by one man, Robert de Posada, founder of Latinos for Reform is an official Republican Party operation against Democrat Nevada Senator, Harry Reid.

Caterpillar Says Healthcare Will Cost It $100M

by lewwaters

Caterpillar Corporation, still struggling in this economy in spite of Barack Obama’s much-vaunted claim in February 2009 that his stimulus bill will enable the company to rehire laid-off employees, has announced the pending seizure of the healthcare and insurance industries will cost them $100,000,000 once enacted.

In February 2009 Obama said at the Caterpillar plant, “Jim, the head of Caterpillar, said that if Congress passes our plan this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off. And that’s a story I’m confident will be repeated at companies across the country, companies that are currently struggling to borrow money selling their products, struggling to make payroll, but could find themselves in a different position when we start implementing the plan…”

Well, we all saw how well that worked out as unemployment skyrocketed in to double digits in most states.

Unfortunately, in regards to Obama’s claim, ‘Jim’ said, “I think, realistically, no. The honest reality is we’re probably going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again.”

A year later and facing another of Obama and the Dictacrat cartels brilliant plans, Caterpillars vice president and chief human resources officer, Gregory Folley sent a letter to the Queen bee herself saying, “these provisions would increase [our] insurance costs by at least 20 percent, or more than $100 million, just in the first year of the health-care overhaul program.”

Folley also said, “We can ill-afford cost increases that place us at a disadvantage versus our global competitors.”

We are also told “more than 130 economists predicted the legislation would discourage companies from hiring more workers and would cause reduced hours and wages for those already employed.”

Let’s hope that come November, we can finally stop these Dictacrats from “helping” us so much. The country can ill-afford much more of their help.

Look At All The Liberals

by lewwaters

It is said that Liberalism is a mental disorder. It is also well known that the Liberal mind functions primarily on emotion, pushing even simple logic aside. To the Liberal, symbolism counts for much more than substance.

They talk about giving to the poor, but most sit back and expect others, either government or conservatives, to do the actual giving.

They cry about the tax burden being spread about fairer, meaning stick it to the rich and leave their wages alone.

They complain any comment against one of their number who might be of a minority is racism and unforgivable, but their own comments against anyone of a minority group is excused.

Nowhere is this better seen than in our first Black President, Barack Hussein Obama and recent revelations that staunch supporter and liberal, Senator Harry Reid (D. NV) and Senate Majority Leader and comments he made during the 2008 campaign against Obama.

Reid is quoted as saying that he “believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.’ ”

How reminiscent of current Vice President, Joe Biden’s remarks of, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

Reid apologized, Biden explained and all was forgiven.

How different than it was in 2002 when Republican Trent Lott, then Senate Majority Leader said of former segregationist Strom Thurmond on his 100th Birthday, “I want to say this about my state. When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years either.”

Of course since at the time Thurmond ran for President he was a still a segregationist, the comment was twisted to a racial comment when in reality, race was not what Lott was talking about at all.

Unlike Reid’s “apology” and Biden’s “explanation,” nothing Lott could say was good enough. Liberal Democrats were inconsolable. Then state Senator Barack Obama said, “It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do,” adding, “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”

Former VP Al Gore: “It is not a small thing for one of the half-dozen most prominent political leaders in America to say that our problems are caused by integration and that we should have had a segregationist candidate. That is divisive, and it is divisive along racial lines. Sen. Lott should apologize; failing that, the Senate should seriously entertain a motion of censure for his having made such a racist statement.”

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D – CA): “He can apologize all he wants. It doesn’t remove the sentiment that escaped his mouth that day.”

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D – MD): “I have not seen the apology, but I can tell you I’m very concerned and very upset that anybody that would issue such a statement would be in the leadership of this nation or the Senate. And so we’re still trying to resolve exactly what action we will take, but guarantee, action will be taken.”

Rep. Maxine Waters (D – CA): “I consider this as a Democratic Party issue, and the party should take into consideration what message this and other kinds of statements are sending to the African American community.”

Rep. Diane Watson (D – CA): “I’m very, very troubled at the attitude expressed in his remarks, considering that he is fourth in line for the presidency. I think he needs to step down and I’m going to do all I can to see that that occurs.”

None are making similar comments about current Senate President, Harry Reid (D. NV) and his gaffe on Barack Obama’s ethnicity.

One is also left pondering just where was their outrage over such a “racist” remark when West Virginia Senator, Robert C. Byrd, who not only was also a segregationist but a Grand Kleagle in the Ku Klux Klan and who launched the filibuster trying to derail the 1964 Civil Rights act, received Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd words of, “’I do not think it is an exaggeration at all to say to my friend from West Virginia that he would have been a great senator at any moment. He would have been right at the founding of this country. He would have been in the leadership crafting this Constitution. He would have been right during the great conflict of Civil War in this nation. He would have been right at the great moments of international threat we faced in the 20th century,” some months later?

Hypocrisy, thy name is Liberal Democrat!

An Open Message To Democrat Politicians

by lewwaters

While I disagree that “WE trusted and elected” those holding America hostage in Washington D.C., the message is clear. Americans are fed up.

Republicans, you don’t get a pass, either. The Democrats have shown they are not trustworthy and in the past, so did you.

So, to you Republican politicians, get your act together or you too will be found in the unemployment line.

America belongs to us, the citizens of this great country, not you, the politicians that have misrepresented us for far too long.

Democrats Just Won’t Stop Lying

by lewwaters

Obama, ShockFor 8 years we all saw how the Democratic Cartel in power today lied about, fearmongered and totally misrepresented Republicans and the Bush administration. Since seizing dictatorial control of the government this has increased, not decreased.

In two previous posts, Democrats, STOP THE LIES! and Who Is Really Orchestrating?, I mentioned some examples and showed how organized efforts in this healthcare reform fiasco is them, not the ones they accuse.

It was shown on a national level how they misrepresented and blew a memo from a small Connecticut Libertarian group of less than 20 people into a major Republican coordinated effort. And still, the coordinated Democrat lies keep coming.

In last few days I have received numerous emails claiming how it is Republicans disrupting town halls and perpetrating violence, when in actuality it is the Union thugs sent by Democrats doing such. Inciting comments in those emails are as follows,

Received from Paul Begala on July 27, “The Republican attacks on health care are getting downright scary. And I mean literally.

One Republican says that now is the time to “go for the kill” on health insurance reform and even “drive a stake through its heart.” Another one talks about making it President Obama’s “Waterloo” and adding that “it will break him.” Jeez. These guys sound like they’re living inside a bad horror movie.”

From Mitch Stewart of Organizing for America, received on July 29, “You’ve probably seen the headlines: Opponents of change are doing everything they can to delay health insurance reform. As a Republican strategy memo concluded, “If we slow this sausage-making process down, we can defeat it,”” referring to the now infamous Libertarian memo to 10 people.

On July 29, the DCCC’s John Vogel said, “Today the Republicans launched an early assault to try and stop President Obama’s progress on health care reform. It’s also bigger than we were expecting. Republicans are now spending $1 million of special interest money on campaign activities attacking Democrats who support President Obama on health care reform.

Their rhetoric is also reaching absurd new levels. One House Republican said that health care reform will cause seniors to be “put to death by their government.””

August 3 brought from Bill Clinton, through the DCCC, “But, just as I did in 1993, President Obama has run into a buzz saw of special interest opposition to his top domestic policy priority — health care reform. He is facing off against some of the most powerful special interests in Washington who’ve launched a furious campaign to preserve the status quo.”

On August 5, signed by Barack Obama, “There are those who profit from the status quo, or see this debate as a political game, and they will stop at nothing to block reform. They are filling the airwaves and the internet with outrageous falsehoods to scare people into opposing change. And some people, not surprisingly, are getting pretty nervous. So we’ve got to get out there, fight lies with truth, and set the record straight.

That’s why Organizing for America is putting together thousands of events this month where you can reach out to neighbors, show your support, and make certain your members of Congress know that you’re counting on them to act.

But these canvasses, town halls, and gatherings only make a difference if you turn up to knock on doors, share your views, and show your support.”

Again from John Vogel and received August 6, “Republicans wanted a fight on health insurance reform this summer? Thanks to you, they’re about to get more than they bargained for.

It’s getting hard to keep track of all the truth-twisting attacks by the Republicans in their drive to preserve the status quo for big health insurance companies. That’s why the DCCC has launched, to expose these false attacks.”

Also on August 6, Vogel sent out, “At a time when families are looking for solutions to rebuild the economy and make health care more affordable, Rush Limbaugh is attempting to sidetrack the important debate through his use of symbols that are synonymous with murder, intolerance and genocide.”

August 10 saw Mitch Stewart send out, “Members of Congress have been home for just a few days, and they’re already facing increased pressure from insurance companies, special interests, and partisan attack organizations that are spending millions to block health insurance reform.

These groups are using scare tactics and spreading smears about the President’s plan for reform, trying to incite constituents into lashing out at their representatives and disrupting their events.

The goal of these disruptions is for a few people to get a lot of media attention and hijack the entire public discourse.”

August 10, David Axelrod of the White House staff sent, “Anyone that’s watched the news in the past few days knows that health insurance reform is a hot topic – and that rumors and scare tactics have only increased as more people engage with the issue. Given a lot of the outrageous claims floating around, it’s time to make sure everyone knows the facts about the security and stability you get with health insurance reform.”

August 10 also saw’s Nita Chaudary email, “Right-wing extremists have been crashing tons of events and trying to dominate the national debate. But MoveOn members won’t let them succeed-we’re pushing back with Real Voices for Change, an ambitious campaign to show that the overwhelming majority of Americans continue to support President Obama’s plans for change.”

Uh, if they really had the support they claim, would they have to resort to such cries for support?

You’ll note too, there is no mention of Nancy Pelosi calling those of us concerned Nazi’s, un-American and no mention of just last week, Washington State’s Brian Baird referring to us “Brown shirt’s” with a “lynch mob mentality.”

The Obama administration and is Democratic cartel have publicly called upon the SEIU, the Service Employees International Union, to appear at town halls to “counter” concerned citizens who question the proposed healthcare changes being shoved down our throats.

Andy Stern of the SEIU, in response to their “organizing philosophy” says,

We prefer to use the power of persuasion, but if that doesn’t work we use the persuasion of power.”

Just ask Kenneth Gladney, the Black man in St. Louis who members of the SEIU viciously attacked and beat last week about the effectiveness of the SEIU’s “organizing philosophy.”

Those that either oppose or speak of legitimate concerns on this proposed legislation that would grab one sixth of our economy have gone over the parts of the bill that have been made public. They have picked out troubling aspects and presented their arguments and concerns by quoting the actual bill by page and paragraph number.

The Democratic cartel sends in the goons and emails false claims to let you know you are too dumb to read.

If this bill is as good as they claim and will do as much to better people as they say, two points come to mind.

1. Why don’t they do as the concerned citizens do and counter concerns by quoting page and paragraph number as well, showing us the actual benefit or lay to rest concerns we have?

2. Why are they unwilling to place their families and selves on it first?

Perhaps those opposed to it, middle class Americans, not the special interest corporations the neo-coms claim, are on to something.

Perhaps individuals showing up en masse at town halls and who angrily speak up really are angry at how we are treated and disrespected as the Democratic cabal manipulates us into surrendering our liberties and freedoms to them?

Perhaps we need to speak up louder and tell these Democrats where to put their socialist agenda!

As Unemployment Edges Up, Democrats Desire New ‘Guest Worker’ Program

by lewwaters

Obama & ReidHardly a day goes by that we don’t hear either the new president or another top Democrat telling us how the economy is in crisis and more American citizens are unemployed. B HO himself has even come out now saying, “People are going through a very tough time right now and I don’t expect them to be satisfied” as he expresses unease over the poor results of the $787 billion economic stimulus he rammed through Congress.

Unemployment in the United States is reaching levels not seen in decades as Republicans remind us that nearly 3 million jobs have been lost this year. House Republican leader John Boehner says,

The president did not lay out a clear path for how his administration will keep its promise to create jobs for middle-class families and small businesses.”

How could he, Representative Boehner? Democrats ensured not even their own party members had time to read the massive spending bill before voting on it.

As we look out across America we can see that we are falling on rough times as another policy of the newly elected Poseur in Chief closed or will pull franchises of nearly 3,000 Auto Dealers.

Democrats successfully took control of both the House and Senate in the 2000 elections by demeaning the economy then, bashing President Bush, his policies and the Republican Party. Their party slogan was “A New Direction For America.”

Obama ran in 2008 and captured the White House by the same platform promising “Hope and change.” We were led to believe that they and only they could correct what they said was the worst economy we have seen in decades.

Looking back at Unemployment Rates we see that during the Bush years, unemployment never exceeded 6%. Democrats cried that was unacceptable and a “New Direction” was needed.

Five months into their “New Direction” we see 9.4% unemployment as a national average with several states already exceeding the double-digit mark. Looking at the chart linked above, unemployment jumped more than a full percent in 2008, the year the Democrats pushed through their long desired minimum wage increase.

The closest jump to it was immediately after the horrific attacks of September 11, 2001.

Given the above it is with total dismay and utter disbelief that I read Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants to enact a new guest worker program as part of a comprehensive immigration reform bill.

During the campaign in 2008, Obama led Latino’s & Illegals to believe He would grant some sort of amnesty to those in our country Illegally.

Speaking before the National Council of La Raza, Obama said,

Yes, they broke the law. And we should not excuse that. We should require them to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for citizenship – behind those who came here legally. But we cannot – and should not – deport 12 million people.”

And now we have Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, another top Democrat, advocating not only a “sweeping comprehensive bill that will include not only amnesty for illegal aliens,” but also a “decent guest-worker program.”

While Democrats show concern for “bringing 11 million people out of the shadows,” what about the 15 million American Citizens currently without jobs?

What do Democrats propose for us? We are encouraged to “volunteer” ourselves under Obama’s United We Serve program. We are being encouraged to work for the state for free while they desire to bring more immigrants into the country, who will be paid money!

Obama sent out an email announcing his Volunteer Program saying,

Last week, I announced United We Serve – a nationwide call to service challenging you and all Americans to volunteer this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America.”

And when I say “all,” I mean everyone – young and old, from every background, all across the country. We need individuals, community organizations, corporations, foundations, and our government to be part of this effort.”

I find it unacceptable that when taxpayers’ unemployment is approaching record highs, we should expect citizens and taxpayers to volunteer and go without while bringing in foreign workers to fill jobs and be paid!

I could support a decent guest worker program if we enjoyed very small unemployment rates, but when our unemployment rate is rapidly exceeding double digits, does it make sense to dump on the citizens, the very voters who elected these clowns and instead bring more people from foreign countries to work?

It doesn’t make sense to me.

Sometimes, I wonder just whose side Democrats are really on.
