Rehashing Old Charges Against Sen. Benton Reveals Tim Probst’s Hypocrisy

by lewwaters

Tim Probst and Sen. Don Benton

There is little doubt that the State Senate race in the 17th Legislative District is one of them, if not the hottest race in the state this election. It is no secret that Democrats have long sought to see Senator Don Benton, elected to the Senate 4 times now, ousted and a Democrat take his place.

Tim Probst, Representative for position 1 in the 17th was enticed to leave his fairly safe House seat and take on Benton, a hard charging and very effective Senator, even though he has been in the minority party his entire time in the Senate.

Evidence of the urgency for the Democrats to defeat Senator Benton comes from several areas, but one of the best would be the words from a Democrat candidate for the State Senate running against Senator Ann Rivers, Ralph Schmidt, who openly says he realizes he has no chance of winning.

Schmidt told the Columbian,

“I actually don’t have a lot of money. The party is supporting me some, but mostly the 17th (District) is like a vortex sucking up all the time and money, because that’s where the competitive races are.”

Does Herrera Beutler Endorse Marc Boldt or Not?

by lewwaters

It was just this past May when Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler raised a few eyebrows around her district over a comment she made and reported in the May 4, 2012 Columbian, the unofficial daily newsletter of the CRC and Democrat Party, that she intended to endorse both incumbent County Commissioners up for reelection, Republican Tom Mielke and alleged Republican Marc Boldt.

Considering that Commissioner Boldt has been sanctioned in November 2011 by the Clark County Republican Party for abandoning the party platform, turning his back on constituents who elected him and began siding with Democrat Steve Stuart, even to the point of saying “nothing would get done if he didn’t compromise with Stuart,” Herrera Beutler began catching flak, just as she predicted she would.

One such example was an open letter written to her by Carolyn Schultz-Rathbun with a copy posted on her blog, Cry Beloved Country.

Elmer Fudd for 3rd Congressional District

by lewwaters

I find it unbelievable that we in the 3rd Congressional District still cannot find a good conservative candidate to run. Democrats and a RINO have held the seat for far too long.

Democrat Brian Baird held the seat comfortably for several years with no challenger coming close to defeating him.

That seemed to change in 2010 when then chair of the Clark County GOP Ryan Hart requested I find out what I could about an Olympia area Republican stepping up to run against him and begin blogging in support of him. I met David Castillo shortly after and saw that we finally had a strong conservative with impeccable experience who was willing to step up and confront Baird.

Whether or not he could have defeated Baird became academic when Baird announced he was not going to run for reelection in 2010.

We should all be entitled to [insert favorite want here]

by lewwaters

Just about any parent can tell you tales of how their children, when small were unable to comprehend that just wanting something did not entitle them to just take whatever it was. That is part of a parents job in raising a child, teaching them that nothing is free and we are not allowed to just take as we wish.

Many that did were disciplined in one way or another, hand slapped, spanked, stood in the corner or being made to return the item to rightful owner, most often something snuck off of the shelf of a store when the parent turned away to get something to purchase.

But we learned not to just take and that if we want something, we had to work for it. Having worked for whatever it was, we then actually appreciated it and took care of it, having spent sometimes several hours laboring away to earn the money to buy the item as it rightfully became ours.

It is an attitude as old as time itself indicated in the Bible and other religious writing from long ago. It’s time tested and helped form functioning and orderly societies. That is, until recent years.

It seems somewhere along the way, some “brilliant” minds decided that simply wanting something established a right to ownership. The concept of our rights being limited to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” was replaced by “I want, I should have.”

Redistricting Maps Show Big Changes

by lewwaters

From the Tacoma Tribune, “The new 10th District is centered on Olympia, includes some of Pierce County and reaches up into Shelton. It has no incumbent living in it and is divided between Republican and Democratic leaning areas.”

It appears the 3rd loses much of Thurston County and gains all of Klickitat County, making it more of a Republican district, which will help Jaime Herrera Beutler, who so far faces no significant challenge for reelection.

Could Tim ‘Leave-It’ Be Elected Dog Catcher?

by lewwaters

With full apologies to the honorable profession of dog-catcher for comparing Vancouvers worst ever Mayor to them, I read with great interest our local version of Pravda, the Columbian as they continue to hawk ‘Liar’ Leavitt’s chances of being elected to higher office, namely to the seat of 3rd congressional district representative, now held by the equally inept Jaime Herrera Beutler.

Leavitt eyes pros, cons of taking on Herrera Beutler

Both of these marvels of modern politics have accidently stumbled upon doing some things right, but for the most part, are mere puppets of unseen handlers directing what they do while in office.

Herrera Beutler’s less than stellar political career is diligently laid out at the link, so no need for me to rehash how, in spite of a youthful cuteness, she hasn’t a clue.

No, the focus here will be on Tim ‘Leave-It’s’ less than stellar performance as Mayor of Vancouver, Washington ever since openly lying his way into office, also seen here.

Herman Cain, You Are Not A Racist, But A Patriot

by lewwaters

Not issuing an endorsement of Herman Cain just yet, but the man definitely deserves a serious look.

“You are not a racist for disagreeing with the President who Happens to be Black, you are a Patriot for standing up for what you believe in.”

The more I hear from Herman Cain, the more I like what I see and hear. The question now is, will the establishment GOP undermine him while they promote their favored RINO to win the nomination, as they did with the 3rd Congressional District race in 2010 and others in 2008 to give us one of the least liked candidates?

Elected Ruling Class Continues to Insulate Themselves from the Serf Class

by lewwaters

America was a country envisioned to be a free society, without a royal class owning the property and rewarding their friends and family with titles of nobility and given property to lord over the serving class, the serfs who worked that property for the benefit of the lords. Serfs of old times would be much like those of us in the blue collar jobs today, except we have had the freedom to strike out on our own and to increase our own wealth and own property ourselves.

Instead of a King rewarding those he wished to reward, we were granted the right to own property ourselves and unlike other government systems, we took for ourselves the right to determine who would be chosen to represent us in government. Those we elected are to serve us, not we serve them. They hold office at our leisure and during campaigns we hear promises from those hoping to be selected to represent us of how they will listen to us, they do as we wish in governance and they will be our voices in Washington D.C., our state capitols or even city & county government.

Once in office, those promises seem to fall by the wayside until the next election, regardless of what political party the particular elected comes from.

Dealing With “Crazies?”

by lewwaters

With all of her claims of once being a “Senior Legislative Aid” to congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, how could she have not known what negotiating was like in Washington D.C.?

Voting to raise the debt limit by the largest amount in history is not courageous, it’s caving.

Spending is not Sustainable Rally Thursday July 28th 4-6 PM

Jaime Herrera Buetler’s Office
O.O. Howard House on Officer’s Row
750 Anderson Street, Suite B
Vancouver, WA 98661
Thursday, July 28th
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Spending is out of control. The interest paid monthly on the national debt amounts to billions of dollars of our taxes that could be going to infrastructure, necessary social programs, Veterans Care, backing up Social Security and caring for our citizens.

Instead, that is billions of dollars paid every month to those that hold the debt.

The debt limit has been raised 74 times since 1962 and we see is more and more debt.

Both Democrats and Republicans business as usual approach is responsible.

Just raising the debt limit again without real and actual spending cuts, not just merely decreases in proposed future spending increases as we have been seeing will just put us deeper in debt and paying even more of our hard earned tax dollars in interest payments.

This madness must stop. We are mortgaging future generations with paying off our staggering debt.

Please, make ever effort to be outside of Jaime Herrera Beutler’s office tomorrow and send them the message, ENOUGH! Begin paying it off, not just running it up.

GOP Congresswoman: Clueless or Pandering?

by lewwaters

It’s no secret that I did not support Jaime Herrera Beutler for the seat she sits in currently. The above video is a prime reason why, beyond the nonsense thrown at me by her staff and the Clark County Republican Party because I had the audacity to actually support a Conservative Republican in last year’s election.

At her May 16, 2011 Town Hall, Jaime faced a crowd of angry Democrats fearing she will vote like a Republican. The above comment was the normal run of the mill leftwing tripe on ending tax breaks and subsidies for corporations, the job creators. Hearing this particular part of her reply, I can only ask, “Jaime, are you clueless or pandering to Democrats again?”

She specifically mentions ExxonMobil and GE as corporations not paying taxes. Leftists, Moveon.org and several others have been making that claim, based in large part to admitted Socialist Democrat Bernie Sanders from Vermont releasing his list of Top Ten Tax Avoiders, where it is claimed the companies posted large profit increases, and pay no taxes in the U.S.

Former Prairie Principal Lets His Left Wing Bias Show

by lewwaters

For some time now, conservatives have been scoffed at whenever we mention that there are too many involved in education that place leftist ideals above actually educating our children. Unwittingly, Bruce Matheny, principal at Prairie High School from 1995 to 1999 provided support for our claims as he confronted a former student, Jaime Herrera Beutler at her recent town hall, May 16, 2011.

It was previously reported that the town hall was contentious, Ms Beutler being confronted by angry leftwing Democrats calling her a liar and just being obnoxious, undoubtedly some recruited by Don’tEndMedicare.com, set up and funded by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, complete with downloadable protest signs, bogus talking points and preformed letters to the editor.

What didn’t make the initial reports is that one of those confronting Herrera Beutler was none other than her former High School Principal, Bruce Matheny who said to her, “I’m proud of what you’ve done with your career, but I’m really disappointed with your politics. I think you mean well, but you’re drinking that Republican Kool-Aid.”

Anyone who knows me also knows that I am no fan of Jaime Herrera Beutler and do not see her as a conservative. Establishment Republican who goes to the left at times, yes. But a conservative? No way. So, her being confronted by angry constituents does not really disturb me. She wanted in the big leagues and she made it, by dirty politics, but she made it.

But, for a High School Principal, who for years had charge of educating children and supposedly not imposing his political views to stand, identify himself as her former Principal and launch into a tirade of her “having drank the kool-aid” goes a bit too far.

Is that how he spoke to children under his charge and with conservative parents?

Is he disappointed that someone might think differently than he does and walk a different path?

Did he confront her at any time as she supported and voted for legislation that would have forced child care centers into public unions, charging that she must be drinking that SEIU Kool-Aid?

Did he ever step and charge her with drinking that Democrat Kool-Aid when she joined forces with Democrats in Olympia in stripping the last $229,000,000 from the rainy day fund?

Did he object when she declared herself “a friend to organized labor” when seeking the appointment to replace Richard Curtis in 2007?

Something tells me no, he had no objections then and was probably quite pleased with the flavor of her Kool-Aid then.

But, to hear an educator stand up in public and charge a former student with “drinking that Republican Kool-Aid” because she doesn’t follow his politics lock-step is irresponsible and disrespectful.

I can only imagine how he spoke to students inside a classroom or the principals’ office.

But, I do thank Bruce for providing support for the many times we conservatives have spoken about the conduct and actions of leftwing educators.

Herrera Beutler Discovers Obama’s “Kinetic Military Action”

by lewwaters

It has been a whole week since the Obama administration launched air and sea attacks against the country of Libya, Saturday March 19, 2011. In somewhat of a role reversal, it is Republicans now questioning the necessity of what the Obama administration is calling a “Kinetic Military Action” instead of a “war.”

As one man who has witnessed war, armed conflict or kinetic military action, whatever you wish to call it up close and personal, I question the necessity of all actions that might place our Troops in harm’s way.

From the first bomb dropping, several in congress from both parties questioned the necessity of a third war at this time, which drew the label of it isn’t a war but a “kinetic military action” from the administration. Call it what you will, people are dying from the use of munitions from opposing sides in battle.

I began looking for any word from our newly installed congresscritter Jaime Herrera-Beutler the same day the “Kinetic Military Action” commenced and during the week as well. Knowing she was excessively weak in the area of foreign policy, just one of several reasons why I opposed her candidacy last year, I was prepared to give-up on her taking any coherent stand on this issue.

Moveon.org ‘Defend the Dream’ Rally, Vancouver, Part Two

Herrera Beutler Has Many Faults, but Not Caring About Abducted Children Isn’t One

by lewwaters

Regular readers of Clark County Conservative know that I have little regard for 3rd congressional district representative Jaime Herrera-Beutler. I have never taken politics personal, but due to lies and the corrupt nature of her winning the nomination to run as the Republican candidate in 2010, being labeled a liar by her staff director Casey Bowman for documenting her lying about her support of a piece of legislation that would have forced child care centers into the SEIU, back-stabbing conduct from the likes of Anna Miller and Keath Huff, unethical conduct of 4 county GOP’s, including the majority of the executive board of the Clark County GOP, confirmed by seeing past chair Ryan Hart appointed as Herrera-Beutler’s district manager, fully explaining why he chose to violate an ethical pledge he spoke to me personally about party chairs endorsing candidates during a contested primary and several personal attacks against not only a Republican candidate who would not step aside for the “chosen one” but me personally, this one became personal.

In fact, I can’t stand the girl.

Still, unlike her and her campaign crew, I do not support lies, even if about her.

AFP’s Malin Labels Former WSRP Chair Esser Lobbying For The SEIU a “Freakin Embarassment.”

by lewwaters

If there was any doubt that replacing Luke Esser with Kirby Wilbur as chair of the Washington State Republican Party in any conservatives mind, it should be clear as a bell it was the right decision now that Esser has resurfaced as a lobbyist for “Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 775, the union local that represents some 40,000 home-care workers.”

Eric Smith at Washington State Wire quotes Esser saying, “There’s no better guy for the job than [me]. Republicans need to have better lines of communication with unions and organized labor. Casting against type can be a good thing.”

For quite some time, Republicans in Washington State apparently have been doing just that, “casting against type” by retaining Luke Esser as party chair, knowing all along he was not a conservative and at best, was a RINO (Republican in name only).

Little wonder the GOP in our state has done such a poor job winning elections when you have such weak kneed people leading the party and silently advocating the opposition as he states that he “has been a longtime supporter of the union’s efforts to organize homecare workers.”

Herrera-Beutler Takes a Stand on Mega-Casino. Squarely on the Fence

by lewwaters

Residents of Clark County seem to be pretty much evenly divided over plans and approval given for the Cowlitz Tribe to build their $510 million mega-casino near La Center, in the north end of the County Local governments and some groups are appealing the Cowlitz decision.

The casino has been a thorn in the communities’ side for some time, with the Cowlitz Tribe hoping to win approval and begin construction in 2012 sometime.

Neither side debating the casino has given an inch and each has their reasons for their stand.

My friend and fellow blogger at Clark County Politics and Jaime Herrera Watch is one who opposes the casino, with good reason. As a man with ties to political expertise, he has been wondering how our newly elected congressional representative, Jaime Herrera Beutler stands on the casino, what with her reputation for not taking strong stands on issues in her short political career.

Question for our esteemed congress-critter: the campaign is over…. has McMorris given you your position on the mega casino yet?

Did Herrera-Beutler Drop Illegal Immigration as a Serious Issue?

by lewwaters

During the campaign for nomination to succeed retiring Brian Baird, I noted that all of the GOP challengers made statements on their position concerning Illegal Immigration. All except Jaime Herrera, that is.

Does Anyone Know Jaime Herrera’s Stand On Illegal Immigration?

As noted in the original post, some time AFTER writing that post, her campaign listed a vague position on Illegal Immigration, her campaign having been goaded into stating a position. But, vague or not, it was still a stated position.

As we all know, Jaime, now going by her husbands name, Herrera-Beutler, won her climb up the political ladder and has been sworn in, assuming her seat in the House. In due time, she got her official web site up and running for all of us constituents to be able to follow her and know her positions.

Did Herrera Beutler Forget a Pay Off?

by lewwaters

Jaime Herrera Beutler, Washington State’s newest Representative for the 3rd Congressional District has achieved her dream of officially becoming a full-time professional career politician in the history books. How she did it never mattered to her, just that she made it and like other establishment career politicians, has began paying off those who helped her step on others to get where she is.

The Republican freshman began by announcing the appointment of past Clark County Republican Party chair, Ryan Hart as her District Director. Hart, in violation of words he spoke to me personally, publicly endorsed her while still chair of the party and promoted her candidacy from the chair, largely ignoring any other Republican Challenger, helping to create an unlevel playing field for the nomination.

Self-professed “Tea Party Icon,” Marine Corporal David W. Hedrick, former opponent of Herrera Beutler, told too many people that he was not going to file in June 2010 so he could back another candidate to “stop Herrera from winning” the nomination. I received several first-hand accounts from some very prominent people, some elected officials, of such words spoken to them by Hedrick.

Naturally, this was all before he ran the vicious campaign he did against the candidate he continually labeled as dead last in the polls and not being anywhere near he and Herrera, who were tied for first place in said polls.

Who Does Herrera Beutler Think She’s Kidding?

by lewwaters

After how many flights to and from Washington D.C. for fund raisers and being back there for arranging her office, where she nearly did flips across the congressional floor, now she wishes us to believe she chose to drive “because it is more economical?”

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler Heads to Washington.

Sorry hon, but your effort to make yourself now appear as one of the regular people fails!

Those who have watched you know better.

December 4, 2011, Herrera Beutler appeared on Hannity along with other freshmen congresscritters. A question answer session with her and host Frank Luntz is as follows,

LUNTZ: Now, the American are trying to judge, they’re going to look you straight in the eye to try to figure out whether you got what it takes.
CONGRESSWOMAN-ELECT JAMIE HERRERA BEUTLER, R-WASH.: Absolutely. And I expect them to. That’s what we run on. I served here as a staff member actually before I went on to get elected.
LUNTZ: And you wanted to come back?
BEUTLER: No, actually I didn’t. My husband and I, we actually made a cross country trek. We drove out here. On the way, we were reminiscing, when we made the decision to run, it wasn’t because we wanted to live here in Washington, D.C. I’m from the West Coast, I like the West Coast. But we decided our country needed a course direction. We either change direction now or the future generations of Americans, my children’s children wouldn’t have the same America I had. And it was worth it to us.

Transcript here

She didn’t wish to return to Washington D.C.? Why the hell did you run then? Why did you rely on dirty tricks to win? Why are you even there? After all, there was a candidate who actually wanted to represent the people and he actually had ideas.
