Yes, We Can Coexist With an Oil Terminal

by lewwaters

Oil Can Dollar Sign 1Bomb Trains, Toxic Air, Pollution, Destroying the Environment, Derailment, Fire, Earthquake, we have all been subjected to a steady campaign of fearmongering, followed by boastful claims of how environmental activists have managed to stop job growth for the middle class by successfully convincing cities to not allow terminals that have to do with oil, gas, methanol or pretty much any sort of fuel.

They love to boast of cities in other countries that are “green” and thriving economically.

Washington State Jobs! What to Believe?

by lewwaters

Many people have come to not trust what they read and see in the media. Beyond the obvious bias of many media sources, contradicting articles published calls the media’s reliability into question.

Case in point, the Columbian on August 23, 2011 published an article headlined, “Clark County job market remains stagnant in JulyRevised unemployment rate expected to be about 13 percent.

That ties in well with their article we saw August 16, 2011, “More living with less incomeCounty households earning under $35,000 up 24% as job picture stays bleak

We all know how bad economic conditions have been and remain in Clark County, so maybe you can imagine my surprise to see the headline today, August 25, 2011 of, “State’s job openings at three-year high

Is the rest of the state better off? Or, is someone trying to put lipstick on a pig?

Which way is it? It can’t be both.

Weeping Over Government Job Cuts, Ignoring Government Blocking Hundreds of Thousands of Private Sector jobs

by lewwaters

Leave it to the Columbian’s bombastic liberal political editor to pine away over the job cuts in the government sector and not acknowledge that government continues to block and deny hundreds of thousands of shovel ready jobs itching to be created and put people back to work all across the nation.

But, that is just what John Laird has done with his Sunday, June 12, 2011 editorial Fist-bumps in anti-government crowd.

From his grossly out of context Reagan quote, “government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem,” to his mischaracterization of conservatives as “anti-government” instead of what we really are, “limited-government,” Laird laments on government jobs being lost in this “Great Recession.” Even on his facebook page, he labels the editorial, “Reflections on the recent wave of cuts in government jobs,” ignoring millions of private sector jobs lost since the Great Repression began in 2007.

While Laird whines about government jobs lost, he completely ignores the ongoing efforts of that very government in blocking private sector jobs at the ready by the hundreds of thousands for several years. Jobs that not only are good paying, but that would spur supportive jobs while at the same time helping to end our reliance on foreign sources for our energy security.
