Lazy C and Democrats, Consistently Inconsistent

by lewwaters

ConfusedIf you haven’t been keeping up on the current ‘kerfuffle’s’ ongoing in politics locally, the Lazy C’s Greg Jayne reminds of them in his Sunday editorial, It’s hard to see the humor in strident political agendas.

While primarily pointing fingers at the current “write-in” effort in the county council chair race, Jayne does mention the recent matter between the Clark County Democrat Party and the Young Democrats of Clark County when they endorsed separate candidates, the party getting behind Democrat Mike Dalesandro and the Young Democrats endorsing Independent Marc Boldt who has previously ran and won elections as a Republican.

I’m particularly struck by that as I read over on the C3G2 facebook page from Roy Valo, “Yeah, in the Dems we came up with a logical compromise that both the CCDCC and the YDs were satisfied with because we sat down and discussed the issue like adults.”

They dealt with it like adults, huh?

Even Democrats Not Safe From Jim Moeller’s “Garbage”

by lewwaters

I’ve already given a couple examples of Jim Moeller (D 49) own “garbage” he has expressed over time towards Republicans. But his “garbage” has not been reserved solely for the Republicans. Anybody that is not in lock-step with Moeller is subjected to such “garbage.”

For a refresher over this 2012 incident, please see Of “Self Inflicted Wounds” and “Fairly Horrible Experiences” and Why Was Jon Haugen ‘Sanctioned’ By the Democrats?

More Lazy C Chicanery Against Republicans

by lewwaters

Donkey kissing assAlthough the Lazy C frequently proves my blog posts right, after all, they can’t help being who and what they are, it isn’t often they run an article proving me right so quickly after being exposed.

Just this morning in the post The Stench of the Columbian addressing their continued hate fest with Sen. Don Benton, it was brought to the fore again of how they are very selective in their rants against Republicans versus Democrats and the flimsy excuses they use to justify not covering scandalous activities of Democrats.

In it, I presented copies of a Twitter exchange where Marisa Harshman and Amy Libby excused not covering a Democrat State Senator’s son arrested for rape as not newsworthy since he isn’t from Clark County.

Washington State Democrats Stick Their Finger in Jim Moeller’s Eye (UPDATED)

by lewwaters

It looks like Washington State Democrats and their chair, Dwight Pelz have broken ranks with 49th Legislative District incumbent representative, Jim Moeller and finally come out and endorse the only Democrat to challenge Republican, Jaime Herrera Beutler for her 3rd Congressional District seat.

If readers recall, it was Jim Moeller and his inflated ego who led the effort at the Democrats State Convention to deny Haugen the party endorsement, primarily due to his sensible stance on the Columbia River Project, covered at Why Was Jon Haugen ‘Sanctioned’ By the Democrats?

Now that it appears the wheels just may be falling off of the CRC, the Columbian is reporting State Democrats endorse Haugen — finally where they state,

“Democrats didn’t say exactly what made them decide to now endorse Haugen, but Washington State Democrats’ Chairman Dwight Pelz on Monday called Haugen a ‘strong candidate.’ Pelz also said Democrats ‘will spend the next six weeks working (to) elect Democrats and ensure this election keeps our state moving forward’.”

Left out of the article is that it was Jim Moeller leading the charge to deny Haugen the endorsement, presumably due to Moeller being one of the Columbian’s sweethearts who does no wrong.

Elmer Fudd for 3rd Congressional District

by lewwaters

I find it unbelievable that we in the 3rd Congressional District still cannot find a good conservative candidate to run. Democrats and a RINO have held the seat for far too long.

Democrat Brian Baird held the seat comfortably for several years with no challenger coming close to defeating him.

That seemed to change in 2010 when then chair of the Clark County GOP Ryan Hart requested I find out what I could about an Olympia area Republican stepping up to run against him and begin blogging in support of him. I met David Castillo shortly after and saw that we finally had a strong conservative with impeccable experience who was willing to step up and confront Baird.

Whether or not he could have defeated Baird became academic when Baird announced he was not going to run for reelection in 2010.

Of ‘Self Inflicted Wounds’ and ‘Fairly Horrible Experiences’

by lewwaters

Once again, we see the bias in favor of the Democrats that the Columbian says doesn’t exist, displayed so brightly it nearly blinds. We saw it early last year as Democrat Jim Jacks abruptly abandoned and walked out on constituents in mid-session as editor Lou Brancaccio maintained there “was no paper trail” to follow to get to any story on his quitting the position he had just been elected to.

I contrasted that to the Richard Curtis saga just a couple years before in a blatant display of bias.

We once again can see it displayed as just a few months ago, the Clark County Republican Party was taken to task over sanctions set in place against County Commissioner Marc Boldt who frequently went against his stated position in campaigning as a Republican to be elected to the County Commission.

Of course, the Columbian did not bother to say anything until months after the sanctioning that I know they had to be well aware of as they were mentioned on this blog in November 2011 and Columbian follows both this blog and Clark County Politics to see what we are up to.

UPDATED: Why Was Jon Haugen ‘Sanctioned’ By the Democrats?

by lewwaters

Video of the Nomination of Jon Haugen

Okay, to be honest, it is not officially a “sanction” as the GOP did with Marc Boldt, but it essentially amounts to the same thing, Haugen being “cut off from campaign funding the party doles out to the Democratic candidates it favors” as he did not receive the party’s nomination in his effort to unseat Republican first termer, Jaime Herrera Beutler for the 3rd Congressional District Representative.

Another amazing example of hypocrisy from Democrats as it was they who yelled the loudest when news came out of County Commissioner Marc Boldt being “sanctioned” by the Clark County GOP last November over his many departures from the GOP platform.

The Columbian led the charge with “Why was Boldt sanctioned by GOP?”, “Boldt flap prompts two to quit GOP board”, and more, including an editorial “In Our View: GOP Wounds Self-Inflicted” containing the sub-headline, “Criticizing your own is no way to act as the campaign season approaches.

Now what we read from the Columbian is “Candidate Haugen has ‘fairly horrible experience’ at Dems’ convention.”

No mention of “self-inflicted wounds” and certainly no hundreds of outrage expressed by commenters as when Democrats chose to blast Republicans over essentially the same thing.

We read the party refused to endorse Haugen due to his opposition to the CRC project and included strong opposition from 49th legislative district representative, Jim Moeller, undoubtedly the biggest hypocrite serving in Olympia today.

Jon Haugen Offends Me

by lewwaters

Yes, Democrat Jon Haugen does offend me. While he has served our country, I assume with honor, I find it quite telling that he relies on slinging mud towards Joseph Zarelli in his attempt to unseat him.

Aren’t we tired of this mudslinging yet?

In his youth, Zarelli was allegedly caught with drugs, years ago and admitted to using them. Does he still use drugs? No! But, listening to Haugen’s rant, “UNLIKE JOE ZARELLI: I have never been arrested, been arrested with cocaine.”

Zarelli was not charged with any drug charges long ago, but that didn’t stop Haugen from sending letters out to all who endorsed Zarelli claiming, “I just wanted to make sure those who endorsed him were aware of his criminal background.”

Haugen, who claims to be a Christian, seems to have forgotten Jesus’ words at John 8:7, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone…”

While I am sure Haugen’s service and youth were exemplary, are we to believe he is sinless? As a young man in the Navy, did he follow others who often used prostitutes while in foreign lands or tried some drug, mostly marijuana? We don’t know because he doesn’t mention his own youthful experiences, only slings mud at Zarelli.

What lurks in his past remains unstated.

Running as a Democrat, are we to believe that Haugen also opposes the nomination of and election of the Democrat presidential candidate because he too used drugs, cocaine, in his youth? I find that hard to accept myself.

But, the above isn’t what offends me. What does offend me is reading on his website, “Elected Experience: I am not a politician. Please vote, vote to honor the sacrifice of our military. I ask for your vote.”

As a two tour Viet Nam Veteran, I find it highly offensive to claim voting for a candidate “honors the sacrifice of our Military,” especially when the very party Jon Haugen is a member of is currently trashing Senator John McCain, Viet Nam Veteran, Naval Aviator, former Prisoner of War and long time Senator.

Does trashing that Veteran to elect a non-Veteran with ties to a domestic terrorist “honor the sacrifices of our Military?”

Sleazy politics seems to be the norm with Democrats today. Mud slinging is an act of desperation. It’s time we gave the mudslingers their just rewards and throw support to their opponents.
