Why Can’t Tim Probst Be Honest?

by lewwaters
Tim Probst

Tim Probst

As expected, the race in the 17th Legislative District Senate seat vacated by 5 term Republican Don Benton finishes with a razor thin margin between the two candidates vying for the seat, former Representative, Democrat Tim Probst and Representative, Republican Lynda Wilson.

In spite of that razor thin margin, listening to Probst you would believe he accomplished a landslide victory as the initial count had him ahead of Wilson by about 200 votes.

That slim initial count led him to post on his facebook page, “This week we saw unity and love for one another beat divisiveness and anger. We just saw the regular people beat the big money. Celebrate this!”

City Can’t Patch Potholes, but Doubles Mayor’s Salary

by lewwaters

Leavitt LaughingMayor Tim Leavitt swooped into office in the 2009 elections largely due to his numerous claims of opposing tolling a new Interstate Bridge project that saw him flip within weeks of winning to fully supporting them and leading the outgoing Mayor, Royce Pollard to express in an interview, “I want to puke.”

You may desire to grab that vomit bucket again as it is now reported that although Mayor of Vancouver, Washington is only a part-time gig, the salary for the position has now been more than doubled to some $60,000 a year.

Some may think that is an acceptable salary for a Mayor, but it must be remembered that in our community, the day to day functioning of the city is in the hands of a city manager that is paid over $200,000 a year, leaving the Mayor’s position as more of a figurehead that leads the city council, also part-time positions for each.

More Lies and Desperation from George Francisco

by lewwaters
George Francisco

George Francisco

Just like his mentor, Tim ‘the Liar’ Leavitt, George R. Francisco is running for office and basing his campaign on a flat out lie.

Even though brought to his attention long ago that incumbent council member Turlay had distanced himself from county councilor Madore and the Liz Pike write-in effort, Francisco continues to claim a false linkage of Turlay and Madore due to support from over 4 years ago.

Isn’t one proven Liar enough on Vancouver City Council?

Why can’t George Francisco stop lying about the incumbent council member and address issues of importance to the city? I ask that due to seeing just today next to a Lazy C article addressing a $4 Million projected surplus for Vancouver revenues, the following ad for Francisco, again making the false claim on Turlay

More Desperation and Prevarication in Vancouver

by lewwaters

Word has reached me that Vancouver Mayor, Tim ‘the Liar’ Leavitt is working overtime trying to create a link between David Madore and city councilor Bill Turlay in order to help out his rubber stamp friend, George Francisco since Madore donated to his campaign 4 years ago.

I have to wonder just where Timmy gets off with that considering how in 2009, Tim lied through his teeth on tolls and the CRC, adopting basically the same stand held by David Madore in order to get elected Mayor?

In 2009, Timmy wasn’t very happy over a false linkage to Republican Dino Rossi from a couple years earlier,

Think you can trust Craig Pridemore? Think again

by lewwaters

At a forum when he briefly ran for 3rd Congressional District in 2010, he is quoted,

“There’s only one time the federal government should ever deficit spend and that’s a time when the economy is sluggish and we need something to get things moving again, and that’s a time like now. As soon as those times are over we have to get back to a time when the budget is balanced.”

http://www.nwprogressive.org/weblog/2010_01_01_archive.html

According to Ballotpedia, when given the chance to vote for a bipartisan balanced budget requirement in 2012, he voted No.

Pridemore & Stewart on the Home Rule Charter

by lewwaters

Wooden NickelWe read in the Oct. 2, 2014 Lazy C article Pridemore, Stewart differ on big issues;

“He [Craig Pridemore] called the charter an effort to make the county better. He said the county was a different place today than it was in 1889, when the president approved the state constitution, which spelled out the composition of county government.”

“[Jeanne] Stewart, a former Vancouver city councilwoman, disagreed, saying the home rule charter was an extreme reaction by some to the actions of Commissioners David Madore and Tom Mielke, both Republicans.”

Why Private?

by lewwaters

Lew's Blog a

As you all know, I made my blog private again and have not been allowing many people in to view it. That is really not important anyway as I haven’t put much on the blog in the last couple weeks. But, at the risk of being accused of “assuming the fetal position,” “sour grapes,” or “getting bent out of shape” I’ll let you know why.

As most know, even though long accused of being a “Republican lackey” and “Madoreite,” I did expose an effort by the local GOP to selectively stack PCO slots and for that effort, became subjected to a massive smear campaign that I have to believe came from within the local GOP.

Jim Moeller Discusses “Polarization”

Where is Mayor Leavitt?

by lewwaters

LeavittPick up a copy of the Lazy C or just look out your window and we can see the city is beset with trouble. Roads are iced over with our third day of extreme cold weather and the Lazy C’s Sunday edition is quick to stir up fears over three shootings in two-days in the city.

They turn to road crews about the weather and question the County Sheriff over the shootings, but lacking is any quest for answers to recently reelected Mayor, Tim Leavitt.

We see reports from Portland TV News and read statements from Mayors across the country when crisis hits their communities. We see media pressing for answers. We see efforts of others to calm citizens, remind them that the weather will pass, drive safely, shootings are rare but that there are steps we can each take just in case.

Turlay Concedes, Sot Leavitt wins

by lewwaters

head_up_assRejoice citizens of Vantroit, you proved you want nothing to do with honesty and integrity.

Tim Leavitt staggers his way into a second term leading Vantroit to ruin.

You have a city council wholly bought and paid for by Identity Clark County and other special interests. You can expect your taxes to increase while their bank accounts swell.

You all want a city like Detroit?

You got it.

Forward Vancouver, Trashy and Dishonest

by lewwaters

Leavitt 5As we have seen, downtown special interests desire to keep rubber stamp Tim Leavitt in office as mayor of Vancouver and retain full control over the C-Tran Board of Directors ramming Portland, Oregon’s financially failing light rail down our throats.

Leavitt, known for his dishonesty in seeking office in 2009, took to facebook when it was falsely alleged that philanthropist Ed Lynch was labeled “corrupt” by Vancouver Vitality saying, “No matter what your political views are, we can all agree that making personal attacks on such a fine citizen is reprehensible.”

But, Leavitt remains mum on those from his camp smearing and leveling false allegations against another “fine citizen,” County Commissioner David Madore.

The despicable acts of Forward Vancouver, a PAC set up solely to support the reelection of Tim ‘the Liar’ Leavitt has previously been covered here and here.

Vancouver, You Can Restore Respect, Fairness and Honesty

by lewwaters
Turlay - 2

Bill Turlay

Respect for citizens and honesty in local government has been seriously lacking for far too long. Our votes have been ignored, our voices disrespected and a small group has set themselves up as rulers over us, dictating what is to be, listening only to special interest groups salivating over adding more middle class tax dollars to their bank accounts.

Our own local mouthpiece for those special interests, the Lazy C has endorsed a solid slate of sell-outs candidates that have either a history of opposing citizens or are naïve and inexperienced over people who are willing to actually represent citizen interests, or have been doing just that for many years.

And we know that the reason boils down to special interest desires to force Portland, Oregon’s financially troubled light rail into Vancouver, draining revenues from our community to theirs and likely filling the pockets of special interests on this side of the river. A look at who the Lazy C is endorsing for office in Vancouver is a who’s who list of sell outs or naïve idealists sold a bill of goods.

Lazy C: Whitewashes, Bias, Sell Out and Bankruptcies

by lewwaters

01I am left amazed how a flip-flop after lying your way into office brought out condemnation after the 2009 mayoral election, but is today being whitewashed by the Lazy C. Yes, for all the praise, ass-kissing and erecting a flimsy pedestal to place Tim Leavitt on today, the Lazy C wasn’t so pleased when he defeated ex-mayor Royce Pollard by nearly a 7-point margin.

In their endorsement of Pollard in 2009, the Lazy wrote of Leavitt, “has nowhere near the leadership capabilities that Pollard has,” describing him as “shallow, defensive and retaliatory” over a report issued by “the Vancouver Firefighters Union that Leavitt missed voting in 16 elections in 10 years.”

In the fashion we see continued today, Leavitt whined, “How does this sleazy maneuver help our struggling communities today?” The Lazy C then answered, “It exposes as delinquent the voting habits of a man who is courting Vancouver’s voters, and reasonable voters don’t see truth-telling as a sleazy maneuver at all.”

Courting ex-mayor Pollard some months after the election drew word that Leavitt had “duped the citizens of America’s Vancouver” and “checked his honesty and integrity at the door somewhere way back down the line … people bought that bull … this was a campaign based on a lie.”

Leavitt Whines, But Goes Sleaze Himself

by lewwaters

DSC00947aUnbelievable for anybody else, but not Tim ‘the Liar’ Leavitt, one of the dirtiest Mayor’s Vancouver has ever seen.

This blog recently showed where Leavitt is little more than a Whiny CRC Whore, crying the blues about being picked on and how he is constantly being attacked, boo hoo, boo hoo, boo hoo.

We showed this is much the same ‘victim card’ he used back in 2009 against Royce Pollard, Leavitt’s blatant lies now well known around town, except with the writers down at the Lazy C that seem to have forgotten how they blasted Leavitt back in 2009 and 2010.

Re-Elect Tim Leavitt? The Horror

by lewwaters
July 7, 2013

UPDATED: Partisan / Nonpartisan Hackery at the Lazy C

by lewwaters

Columbian FishwrapThe political bias of the Lazy C, the Columbian newspaper has been established several times on this blog and others. In spite of that, Editor Lou Brancaccio still tries the spin that they are not biased and in fact are “friend to nobody.”

We know that is not truthful as all we have to do is look over the many years they promoted the now defunct Columbia River Crossing light rail project while diligently working to hide and cover-up many negatives, if no marginalize them.

They are well known to be little more than a daily newsletter for the Democrat Party and once again, we see their blind partisanship glaring at us from the front page of the Sunday, July 7, 2013 edition with the article Political parties take increasingly active role in nonpartisan elections.

Let’s Play Whack-A-Moeller

by lewwaters

Moeller spinMost all of us have played the game, Whack-a-Mole at one time or another. The little mole pops its head up and you try to smack it with a padded mallet before it drops back out of sight to core points.

I can’t help now but see the face of Rep. Jim Moeller (D. Portland/Vancouver) as the mole that keeps popping up and diving back down before voter smack him upside the head at the ballot box.

He talks big and often in vague terms when campaigning, admittedly hiding part of his platform from the voters to ensure he is reelected, only to then act against his constituents will and well-being, slyly letting them know he knows better and since they elected him, he is free to do as he pleases against them.

In any other district he would have been thrown out on his keester long ago, but he also know the district he decided to run in is so low-information and pro-Democrat that a road kill, dead raccoon running as a Democrat would win.
