This Election, “Vote 4 Energy”

by lewwaters

Once again, we are faced with an election year. Democrats & Republicans and others will be begging for our vote and for our money while making lavish promises most have no intention of keeping or won’t be able to.

We’ll see and hear each candidate boasting of some record or grand idea to fix our continuing economic struggles. From raising taxes on the wealthy to stopping tax breaks to corporations that create the jobs many have. From making past tax breaks permanent to cries of shrinking the size of government.

We’ll hear promises of how “Green” energy is the answer to our reliance to foreign oil.

We’ll be hearing blame slung around and catchy slogans to grab our attention and vote.

But who will really address issues that have and continue to create economic havoc in our lives? Who will take a stand to the radical environmentalists and bureaucrats who keep us highly dependent upon foreign oil and mired in this elongated “Great Recession” by blocking job creation?

Our energy security is not a partisan issue, it’s an American issue. That point is the driving force behind a new advocacy group, Vote4Energy that lists on their homepage, “A Vote 4 Energy is a vote for more jobs, higher government revenues and greater energy security.”

Elected Ruling Class Continues to Insulate Themselves from the Serf Class

by lewwaters

America was a country envisioned to be a free society, without a royal class owning the property and rewarding their friends and family with titles of nobility and given property to lord over the serving class, the serfs who worked that property for the benefit of the lords. Serfs of old times would be much like those of us in the blue collar jobs today, except we have had the freedom to strike out on our own and to increase our own wealth and own property ourselves.

Instead of a King rewarding those he wished to reward, we were granted the right to own property ourselves and unlike other government systems, we took for ourselves the right to determine who would be chosen to represent us in government. Those we elected are to serve us, not we serve them. They hold office at our leisure and during campaigns we hear promises from those hoping to be selected to represent us of how they will listen to us, they do as we wish in governance and they will be our voices in Washington D.C., our state capitols or even city & county government.

Once in office, those promises seem to fall by the wayside until the next election, regardless of what political party the particular elected comes from.

Let the Day After Memorial Day Be the Beginning of the Summer of Recovery

by lewwaters

Once again, Memorial Day, a day that has been set aside to pay homage to those who have fallen in service to our country and have given us the freedoms and liberties we enjoy with the sacrifice of their lives is upon us. Some communities may still hold parades; most all will hold some sort of ceremony to honor our fallen.

Like the last couple Memorial Days, this one will be held under the shadow of not only an ongoing war, but a deeply depressed economy and divided nation. Politicians, many of whom have gotten us into this mess, will undoubtedly step forward and make their speeches and no doubt, some will take advantage of the day to score a few political points.

But, who will actually take the bull by the horns and do what is needed to correct this elongated Great Recession we remain in?

As well as being a day to honor our fallen heroes, Memorial Day is also considered the official kick-off to the summer, where people across the country will go on vacation, visit relatives and friends far distances from them and get out and enjoy the countryside as much as they may.

With gas breaking $4.00 a gallon, unemployment still riding high, taxes going up all over, business still failing and the dark mood of the nation because of it, many less trips will be taken than was just a few years ago. Ultimately, that will result in making the situation worse as even less tax revenues from summer purchases will be made.

Is the Silence of Same Sex Marriage Proponents a Sign of their Approval of Bigotry?

by lewwaters

First we saw SB 5688, “Expanding the rights and responsibilities of state registered domestic partners” passed and the subsequent brouhaha over R-71 to place it on the ballot for voter approval, finally being passed with supporters claims of it was not an incremental step towards same-sex marriage, even though the author, state senator Ed Murray said it was.

Then, during a lame-duck session as Democrats were losing their stranglehold on the House, a repeal of the Military Policy known as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was passed, ending prohibitions on gays serving in the Military openly.

And now, we have Barack Obama deciding that the Justice Department will no longer defend challenges against the Defense of Marriage Act that defines marriage as between one man and one woman, during challenges in federal court. Editorials around the state wasted no time praising the decision since 2 bills are currently introduced in Olympia that will throw the doors open toward same-sex marriage.

Even Senator Patty Murray has come out praising Obama for such a bold step and adding her withdrawal of support of the law she once voted for in 1996. Murray now says, “I support and I applaud the President’s decision because it is time to end this 14-year policy,” and “No American and no American family is treated as a second class citizen . . .” alluding to same-sex unions, but carefully avoiding the use of the word “marriage.”

Senators Cantwell and Murray Fight to Keep America Dependent on Foreign Oil

by lewwaters

After the devastating crippling of America in the 1970’s due to the oil crisis in 1973, when Arabian members of OPEC embargoed oil to the U.S. over our support for Israel, then president Carter signed legislation creating the Department of Energy in August 1977, that was supposed to lessen our dependence on foreign oil imports, amongst other matters.

Ever since, we hear frequently from our politicians how we need to end our dependence on foreign oil, yet our dependence has steadily risen since the Department of Energy was created to the point that we now import some 51% of our needed oil from foreign countries, many hostile to us.

At the same time, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, “we are the third largest crude oil producer” in the world!

We also read, “the U.S. has more than 200 billion barrels of oil and 2,000 trillion cubic feet of natural gas that are recoverable with today’s technology,” in an article in Forbes Magazine quoting a report prepared by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.

The article continues, “That’s more than most OPEC nations. If fully developed, it would be enough to eliminate our 10-million-barrel daily diet of foreign oil for half a century.”

At a time we are so heavily dependent on foreign oil sources and at the same time have a scarcity of wage earning jobs in America, we read of our illustrious left coast politicians, namely Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell joining in with other Democrats up and down the left coast advocating a “Permanent Moratorium” on off-shore drilling?

Senator Maria Cantwell Slights Fallen Hero’s Family

by lewwaters

Updated after post

Washington’s junior senator, Maria Cantwell, has once again showed her lack of concern for not only constituents in our state, but America in general. In yet another show of her poor attitude towards those she was elected to represent, she has left the family of fallen soldier, Sgt. Sean Collins feeling slighted.

Sgt. Collins was one of six soldiers killed in a suicide attack December 12, 2010 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was laid to rest December 29 in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington. His family received an outpouring of empathy from friends and complete strangers and received a letter from Senator Cantwell that they felt expressed condolences too, until they opened it and read it.

Family of fallen soldier warmed by letters, stung by politicians

Sgt. Collins’ father, retired Lt. Col. Patrick Collins said the outpouring and condolences was “overwhelming,” in regards to those received from friends and strangers. He cannot say that in regards to the letter received from Senator Cantwell’s office.

Cantwell Calls For End To Ban On Gays Donating Blood

by lewwaters

Seeking to overturn the 27 year ban on Gays donating blood, Washington Senator Maria Cantwell has added her voice with 17 other Democrats calling for an end to the “lifetime ban on donating blood for any man who has had gay sex since 1977.”

The ban, imposed over concerns of HIV/AIDs being spread through blood transfusions, has come under fire in recent years as Gay Activists label the ban an “injustice” unfairly imposed on them.

Cantwell, senators call to end ban on gays donating blood

John Kerry (who served in Viet Nam), failed 2004 presidential candidate claims, “Not a single piece of scientific evidence supports the ban.”

In 2006, the American Red Cross claimed, “that the ban is medically and scientifically unwarranted.”

In 2007, the FDA Kept The Ban On Gay Men As Blood Donors claiming, “Whatever was presented to us was not sufficient to make us change our minds.”

Other groups, such as those representing hemophiliacs, prefer the ban remain in place.

Undeterred, Gay activists and their supporters come back claiming the, “FDA already tests donated blood twice for HIV and other diseases, limiting the risk of tainted blood entering the blood supply to nearly zero,” as did John Kerry, who is also known for presenting a very false view of the war in Viet Nam.

Supporters of Cantwell and Kerry’s view make claims of, “Gay men tend to protect themselves but many straight people still follow the myth that HIV won’t impact them,” “Our health policies must be based on sound science, even if it makes your heads explode with prejudice” and “The point is that the change in policy will add significant amounts of desperately needed blood to our blood banks with virtually NO ADDED RISK.”

We are even told by supporters to check with the Center for Disease Control for HIV/AIDs statistics to see how wrong this “injustice” and “discrimination” against Gays is.

Doing so reveals the chart below.

CDC Basic Statistics, HIV/AIDs

Further checking within the CDC website reveal a small pamphlet they released titled HIV and AIDS among Gay and Bisexual Men that proclaims early on, “MSM is the only risk group in the U.S. in which new HIV infections are increasing. While new infections have declined among both heterosexuals and injection drug users, the annual number of new HIV infections among MSM has been steadily increasing since the early 1990s,” MSM being an abbreviation for “for men who have sex with men.”

Countering claims of discrimination against Gays, an FDA spokesperson said in 2007, “Anyone who’s used intravenous drugs or been paid for sex also is permanently barred from donating blood.”

It should also be noted that while the demand for donated blood is high, modern medicine has been perfecting Bloodless Surgery, due in large part to the questionable religious claims against accepting blood by groups such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

If we are to feel safe in accepting blood donated by known Gays, which will eventually lead to acceptance from prostitutes and others currently barred from donating blood, perhaps Cantwell, Kerry and the other 15 pushing for this change will lead the way and exhibit to us just how safe it really is by publicly accepting small injections of compatible blood donated from known Gays every month for a couple years.

Surely, they would have no concerns in receiving such an injection, right?

Constituents Snubbed By Baird, Unions Get Stealth Town Hall

by lewwaters

Updated & Rewritten

Baird relents, see update after post

Knowing that the media all over America has been reporting that Congressman Brian Baird had to “cancel” plans to hold Town Hall meetings with constituents over a “death threat” allegedly faxed to Baird, it was a bit perplexing to be notified this morning of a call that went out to selected members of the WA Federation of State Employees Union, urging to show up to a “meeting” to be held in Cowlitz County, Thursday, Aug 13 from 2 PM to 4 PM, that would be a face-to-face with Congressman Baird.

Baird has said in regards to face-to-face town hall meeting with constituents, “What we’re seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics,” and “There is this national movement in blogs and on the Internet to go to town hall meetings solely to attack people.” He went on to say, “live meetings will ‘probably resume’ in September or October,” in an interview with the Columbian.

Since Clark County constituents were treated to a hastily set up tele-conference Friday, August 7, with a very last minute notification going out to some, it piqued my interest to read of Union members being invited to meet with in a face-to-face meeting with a couple days notice.

I found it especially curious, as Representative Baird had indicated fear for his life due to the death threat allegedly faxed to him, but so far, it has been only Union thugs that have physically attacked and beaten people at town halls.

Searching for any announcement of the meeting, I was directed to the August 11 edition of the Longview Daily News and the article, Federal lawmakers to get report from Mount St. Helens panel which announces,

“Swanson said Friday he didn’t believe public comment would be taken at Thursday’s event, but it is open to the public. The meeting is only scheduled for one hour, making a public comment session unlikely.”

“Thursday’s meeting is at 2 p.m. in the Cowlitz County Expo and Conference Center, 1900 Seventh Ave., Longview.”

That certainly doesn’t sound like much of a meeting to stack it with supporters, especially with the email notifying those selected members saying,

“Spread the word & come if you can…. btw, this is NOT a health-care event (though it wouldn’t surprise me if there was protesting going on). Come out in your green shirt & hear what your Congressman & Senators have to say!”

Looking around the WA Federation of State Employees web site I found,

A number of town hall meetings are scheduled in coming weeks. While Congress is home on vacation, make sure they hear from you about health care reform. Attend an event in your area with your Members of Congress to show that we need health care reform and we need it now. It would be very good to counter the anti-health care reform rhetoric at these Town Halls. To see the schedule in your area and to download resources you can use, go to http://www.wfse.org > Action Center.

You’ve seen the news reports showing the shouting matches at these town hall meetings, some from legitimate frustration, but a lot orchestrated by big business and the big insurance companies. You need to make your voice heard so the call for affordable health insurance isn’t drowned out by the greed of the insurance companies.

One important town hall meeting is set this Thursday in Longview.

Senator Murray, Senator Cantwell and Representative Baird are scheduled to be in Longview on Thursday to speak on local issues. This was not scheduled as a health care event, but opponents of health care reform are targeting this meeting as a platform for their message.

We need AFSCME health care reform ADVOCATES in the house. Please try to attend!

Details:
Mount St. Helens Citizen Advisory Committee Update
Thursday, August 13, 2009 / 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Cowlitz County Expo Center, Loowit Meeting Room, 1900 7th Ave., Longview

But, didn’t the Union email just say it wasn’t about healthcare?

Looking around some more, I was even more surprised to discover on the official Obama website, Organizing For America,

Standing up for insurance reform in Longview, WA with Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, And Rep. Baird (Health Care Public Event)

Our representatives are under attack by Washington insiders, insurance companies, and well-financed special interests who don’t go a day without spreading lies and stirring up fear. We need to show that we’re sick and tired of it, and that we’re ready for real change, this year.

Please come to the Health Care event, and make sure that the most powerful voices in this debate are those calling for real reform.

Please try to arrive by noon; space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Time: Thursday, August 13 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Host: Organizing for America
Location: COWLITZ COUNTY EXPO CENTER (LONGVIEW, WA)
1900 7TH AVENUE LONGVIEW, WA 98632

This is the same location, same day and same time the Daily Times tells us the three will be in Cowlitz to receive a simple report, in a one-hour meeting. Surely they cannot be in more than one place at one time, so it appears the public announcement went out in the very bottom of a article filled with deflective words, possibly to discourage public attendance, seeing just another boring meeting over nothing too important.

Yet, OAF and WFSE are sending out invites to stack a town hall type event that all 3 will be at, showing any media invited how the citizens of southwest Washington support this healthcare reform when they televise it later on.

Baird champions himself as an advocate of his constituents, yet we are snubbed when it comes to meeting with him face-to-face to discuss such an important matter as totally revamping our healthcare industry under near complete government control. We that were lucky enough to get through last Friday were entitled to ask a question over the phone and only those fortunate enough to be listening in were able to hear the answers given.

And now we see that Baird, along with Murray, Cantwell, OAF and WFSE seem to be conspiring to hold a stealth townhall on healthcare that will most assuredly will be shown afterwards as a big win for Democrats, when voices of opposition will not be present, not knowing what was really going on.

If this is not a deliberate attempt to set-up a favorable town hall for display, then these people are inept and should not be trusted running out healthcare system.

This is not an “advocate of the people,” but a career politician ponying up to special interest money for support

I can’t really say I’m shocked, but clearly, Brian Baird needs to be replaced in November 2010.

With the challengers running, to replace Baird, he has shown a complete lack of regard for voters in Washington’s Third Congressional District with favoring special interests.

UPDATE: Congressman Baird, obviously under fire from many constituents, has cancelled the stealth townhall and is arranging town halls for constituents. Baird apologizes, announces meetings

Baird Sells Out Constituents….. Again

by lewwaters

Brian Baird 1
Brian Baird, six term Representative from Washington States Third Congressional District and author of the infamous “72-Hour Rule” has once again cast a YES vote for a massive bill, without even reading it fully or studying it.

Baird says, “Our votes have consequences. My congressional colleagues and I owe it to both our constituents and to this institution to know what it is we are voting for.”

With his YES vote on the massive “Stimulus Bill” earlier and now voting YES on the Cap & Trade Bill, which received a 300 page amendment in the final hours, raising the number of pages in it to over 1200, why does he continue to vote against his own words?

By his own claims, if he has not had adequate time to study such a bill that will have dire consequences on America and his Washington State constituents, why in the hell does he continue to vote YES!

In selling us out, he explains it away as he gained concessions on use of dead and diseased trees to be used for energy in what is known as “bio-mass.”

Baird then says, “It’s not my way of approaching this problem if I was given the choice.”

What does he mean by “if I was given the choice?” Isn’t voting NO a choice and one that should be used?

He goes on to say, “With the Earth heating up and oceans becoming more acidic, ‘Inaction is not a starter.’”

With all due respect, Representative, BULLSHIT!

Why does he continue to tout this canard when there is ample evidence coming out every day that the earth is not warming up and is actually in a cooling stage?

We know we can no longer count on the state owned media to publish factual matters when it comes to Democrats selling America down the drain, so we often have to turn to publications such as the Wall Street Journal and foreign media to get some truth. The Wall Street Journal has been doing an excellent job covering such matters as The Climate Change Climate Change where Kimberly Strassel let’s us know, “The number of skeptics is swelling everywhere.”

We also have the Investors Business Daily in what they refer to now as Carbongate informing us of the Environmental Protection Agency actually suppressing a report from the Competitive Enterprise Institute that shows how this heavy taxation on American Citizens will cause much damage and how the earths temperature has actually been cooling for the last decade.

Going back to the March 9, 2009 Wall Street Journal, we find an article Who Pays for Cap and Trade?

Who pays? How about the 95% that were promised a tax cut during the 2008 campaign by the current resident of the White House?

Supporters of this disastrous bill brag about how it will create jobs. But, where, China?

A report out of Spain, who jumped heavily into the “Green Jobs” canard years ago, tells us that 9 jobs are lost for every 4 created.

The report may be seen HERE.

House Republicans tried in vain to amend this largest tax increase in our history to suspend it should it prove as harmful as we know it will be, all denied by the Socialist Democrat Cabal in control of the House.

Previously, another House Democrat, Representative John Dingell of Michigan admitted to the nation, “Nobody in this country realizes that cap and trade is a tax, and it’s a great big one.”

Is Brian Baird unaware of that too?

At a time that unemployment is reaching its highest in several decades and Baird’s constituents are hurting all over the Third Congressional District, and the rest of America, shouldn’t we have a Representative who actually places us first, over special interest deals made in smoke-filled back rooms?

Baird has proven himself to be no friend to Washingtonians once again.

We now have two really good candidates filing to unseat Baird, Jon Russell and David Castillo.

I fully expect to see more in the weeks and months ahead, but only time will tell.

What I do know is it is time for Baird to go. He has gotten too comfortable off of our backs and now that he has once again sold us out for special interests, we need a Representative that will actually represent us in Washington D.C.

A note to Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell. We are watching and should you rubber stamp this massive tax increase, your seats in the Senate will become very precarious as well.

In closing, I’d like to bid goodbye to Washington State Representative for the Eighth District, Dave Reichert, who crossed the aisle and joined in with the Socialist Democrat cabal in rubber stamping this monstrosity of a tax increase.

I hope you enjoyed your time in the House.

Washington residents, it has come time to take the country back.

Bill Maher Trashes The Troops

by lewwaters

How despicable that he says of our Troops,

“Forget about bringing the troops home from Iraq. Can we bring them home from World War II? Can you believe that in 2009, we still have 50,000 troops in Germany, and 30,000 troops in Japan? At some point, their people are going to have to learn to rape themselves!”

Even for a braindead liberal like Maher, this troubling. Not only have I contacted HBO demanding he be fired, which I’m sure will be ignored, I sent hte following letter to Obama, Senators Murray and Cantwell as well as Representative Brian Baird,

I write this to you not only as a constituent and American Citizen, but as a Viet Nam Veteran, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

You have publicly declared yourself many times to be an advocate for our Troops and Veterans as well as desiring the broadcast airwaves to be “cleaned up.”

The Democratic Party has spared little effort in attacking Rush Limbaugh in that effort.

Now, Bill Maher, on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher has made a despicable and disparaging remark concerning our Troops in Japan and Germany. He said, “Forget about bringing the troops home from Iraq. Can we bring them home from World War II? Can you believe that in 2009, we still have 50,000 troops in Germany, and 30,000 troops in Japan? At some point, their people are going to have to learn to rape themselves!”

Surely you will find this comment, disguised as a “joke” as despicable as i do and much more disparaging than words said by Rush Limbaugh, since it is directed toward our Troops, which you claim to fully support.

I call on you to publicly condemn Bill Maher just as you have Rush Limbaugh.

I will be watching and listening for your comments on this egregious behavior in our airwaves. Whether you condemn it or remain silent, I assure you I will let all of my fellow Veterans and readers know of your response, one way or the other.

I’m not holding my breath, but if they fail to comment on this egregious comemnt by Bill Maher, after so many condemnations of Rush Limbaugh, it is just more proof that they have an agenda of silencing the right, while giving a pass to the left, who says much worse.
