Not an April Fool’s joke, in spite of the date, Clark County Republican Steven Cox announced today that he is throwing his hat in the ring for Mayor of Vancouver.

If you are unfamiliar with Steven Cox, don’t feel bad. So is a lot of Vancouver.

This is Your Mayor

by lewwaters

Leavitt 5I recently decided to ‘unfriend’ a young Liberal on facebook over what I perceived to be of questionable emotional stability, reinforced in my estimation by an over the top, overly emotional outburst over my unfriending her.

Most curious was the amount of other people that flocked to the post to offer consolation as if it were some sort of divorce one would expect to see in something like the Young and the Restless Soap Opera.

Among those coming by to console and assuage the feelings of this young person was none other than ‘da Mayor, Timothy ‘the Liar’ Leavitt, that prompted me to confront ‘hizzoner’ on his allegations against me in an email exchange, seen below.

Where is Mayor Leavitt?

by lewwaters

LeavittPick up a copy of the Lazy C or just look out your window and we can see the city is beset with trouble. Roads are iced over with our third day of extreme cold weather and the Lazy C’s Sunday edition is quick to stir up fears over three shootings in two-days in the city.

They turn to road crews about the weather and question the County Sheriff over the shootings, but lacking is any quest for answers to recently reelected Mayor, Tim Leavitt.

We see reports from Portland TV News and read statements from Mayors across the country when crisis hits their communities. We see media pressing for answers. We see efforts of others to calm citizens, remind them that the weather will pass, drive safely, shootings are rare but that there are steps we can each take just in case.

Vancouver, You Can Restore Respect, Fairness and Honesty

by lewwaters
Turlay - 2

Bill Turlay

Respect for citizens and honesty in local government has been seriously lacking for far too long. Our votes have been ignored, our voices disrespected and a small group has set themselves up as rulers over us, dictating what is to be, listening only to special interest groups salivating over adding more middle class tax dollars to their bank accounts.

Our own local mouthpiece for those special interests, the Lazy C has endorsed a solid slate of sell-outs candidates that have either a history of opposing citizens or are naïve and inexperienced over people who are willing to actually represent citizen interests, or have been doing just that for many years.

And we know that the reason boils down to special interest desires to force Portland, Oregon’s financially troubled light rail into Vancouver, draining revenues from our community to theirs and likely filling the pockets of special interests on this side of the river. A look at who the Lazy C is endorsing for office in Vancouver is a who’s who list of sell outs or naïve idealists sold a bill of goods.

Lisa Walters Back In

by lewwaters

Lisa Walters bApparently Battle Ground Mayor Lisa Walters has had a change of heart on resigning her city council position.

Three days ago Ms. Walters wrote on her facebook page: “Wanted to let you all know that today I resigned my position with the city council. Time to move forward in my life and make some serious changes. I will be moving out of the area but will keep in touch as I move through this season. Here’s to better tomorrow’s.”

Lisa was citing strictly personal issues prompting the sudden resignation.

Posted on her facebook page this evening;

Tim Leavitt, The Little Mayor Who Cried “the Bridge is Falling”

by lewwaters

Leavitt 5Mayor Tim ‘the Liar’ Leavitt is once again relying on another campaign of deception to ramp up the fearmongering to sell the Columbia River Crossing light rail project.

As we all know, the CRC light rail project has been a very contentious and bloated project to force Clark County into accepting an over-priced bridge replacement designed solely to carry the light rail Clark County voters have rejected numerous times from Portland.

The project was seen as having no chance of survival, thanks to the work of the Majority Coalition in Olympia, especially that of Sens. Ann Rivers, Don Benton and Curtis King.

But then the I-5 Bridge over the Skagit River collapsed after a semi-truck with an oversized load struck 10 critical structural beams and proponents began an intense campaign of fearmongering, falsely comparing the two bridges, the one in Skagit County up north and the twin spans the CRC light rail project hoped to replace down here in Clark County.

Bedtime for Tim

by lewwaters

Contributed by Professor Robert Dean

It was the night before Christmas. Tim tossed back his nightcap, blew out the candle, and snuggled into his pillow for what he hoped would be his first good night’s sleep in years. Visions of sugar daddies danced in his head. You see, Tim had just announced his resignation as Mayor of Vancouver, Washington and accepted a job as Vice President of Light Rail Promotion at the engineering firm, Government Contracts R Us.

Tim Leavitt Continues Showing He Is a Horses Ass

by lewwaters

When it comes to incompetence, arrogance and prevarication by elected people, who comes to mind locally other than the Mayor of Vancouver, Washington, ‘Boss Timothy D. Leave-it?’ But, I have to say he has out done himself this time.

From our capable friends at Couv.com we read, Leavitt charges [Jeanne] Stewart as the obstacle preventing a vote on light rail

From his blatant lies on opposing tolls to get elected, efforts to stifle citizen opposition to CRC and snarky comments directed at citizens on the Columbian, Boss ‘Leave-it’ repeatedly has shown he is ill-suited to be an elected official. His disdain for council members voting against what he wants is easily seen in facial expressions time and again.

And now, he apparently thinks the people in Vancouver have short memories or he hopes his lies once again get him somewhere.

We all recall his tantrum when council member Jeanne Stewart listened to citizens and rightfully joined in with other C-TRAN Board members to separate the vote between a sales tax increase for C-TRAN and another for operations and maintenance of the proposed loot rail Boss Leave-it and other continue shoving down Clark County’s throat. We all recall how Ms. Stewart was unceremoniously removed from her position on the C-TRAN first chance Boss Leave-it got to do so.

Congratulations to Battle Grounds First Ever Female Mayor

by lewwaters

Battle Ground citizens woke up today to news that the city has gained a new mayor, the first female mayor ever appointed by city council, Lisa Walters, who has served as a city council member since 2001. Lisa replaces Michael Ciraulo as mayor who stepped down as mayor due to an increasing workload in his day job position as division chief for Clark County Fire and Rescue, but will remain on the city council.

Ms. Walters had the support of the other council members going into the Tuesday council meeting, her appointment all but guaranteed with the final vote being unanimous.

Lisa was reelected to the Battle Ground city council over challenger Michael Dalesandro by a 53.23% to a 46.45% margin. At the time she was coming under fire from other council members for her standing against the mayor on occasion. She didn’t actively campaign and when asked by Clark County Conservative for information supportive of her reelection bid replied, “I do not have any flashy campaign info,” and “I have elected to not seek support from any group.”

This is Why, Mayor Leavitt

by lewwaters

In a recent exchange with Vancouver’s Mayor Tim Leavitt on the Columbian’s web page (in comments), he wondered about my saying I would not make the mistake of supporting him again. In addition to the reasons I listed there, the following video compilation should also explain the beginning of my decision to not support him should he run for another term when this one is up.

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I believe every effort must be made by people to keep their word.
