What We Really Need Is Good Paying Jobs

by lewwaters

Tenement 3Not too surprising to see the Lazy C editorializing in the Sunday edition, “Make Housing Affordable” with, “In order to thrive, our community must accommodate young families, newcomers.”

Wasn’t it years worth of pushing for more and more “affordable housing” that led to the mortgage bubble that burst and saw our economy tank?

How about instead of pushing for more government involvement in housing, government and envirowackos get out of the way and allow some good paying, family wage middle class jobs be created instead of pushing for taxpayer subsidized playgrounds for the wealthy like the concrete jungle planned for the waterfront?

Let’s Stop the BS on the Oil Terminal

by lewwaters

Disclaimer: I am not in the employ of anyone associated with nor have I ever received any support in any form, monetary or otherwise from anybody even remotely associated with the proposed Oil Terminal under consideration at the Port of Vancouver.

Oil, LibertyThere has been a lot of fearmongering going on by those who absolutely hate petroleum, even though they depend on it daily for their own lifestyles. We hear of plummeting property values, bomb trains, blast zones and more as they attempt to instill fear in citizens to block the proposed Oil Terminal.

While there are always inherent dangers in every walk of life, much of what the oil haters are spewing is pure bovine scatology.

Lazy C Misrepresents Washington State Wire Article

by lewwaters

PinocchioWe have long known that the Columbian mouthpiece, better known here as the Lazy C, is deep in the tank for the Columbia River Crossing light rail project. We have seen them marginalize legitimate concerns of citizens and elected officials who scrutinize the project and at times, just not report revelations that may shed light on it.

Their blind devotion to forcing Clark County’s middle class taxpayers into bailing out Portland’s financially failing light rail competes with that seen from Representative Jim Moeller (D Portland/Vancouver) who would like nothing more than to see every middle class taxpayer broke, paying excessive taxes and receiving what he deems they may through his legislation.

But the Wednesday, May 22, 2013 editorial, In Our View: Inslee Turns Up The Heat contains one of the most flagrant out of context mispresentations that border on outright dishonesty as I have seen then publish to date.

Cleveland, Wylie & Moeller Vow to Screw the Middle Class

by lewwaters

screwedIgnoring the concerns of their constituents in the 49th Legislative District, all 3 Democrats elected to represent us have now vowed to cast our concerns aside, continue ignoring our voices and work as hard as possible to screw us over to ensure funding of the highly unpopular Columbia River Crossing light rail project.

An email received from rookie Senator Annette Cleveland today says, “We are working hard to fund the Columbia River Crossing”, concluding with “Rep. Moeller, Rep. Wylie and I will continue to work on CRC funding throughout the special legislative session to ensure that our state meets the September deadline and qualifies for the $850 million in federal funds. Anything less would be fiscal lunacy and a terrible mistake for our community’s future.”

That voters have rejected every funding measure proposed and outright rejected light rail itself back in 1995 doesn’t enter into the equation.

How Many Mistakes Will It Take to Bankrupt the Middle Class?

by lewwaters

MIstake 1None of us get through life without making mistakes, messing up on something that we end up going back and redoing or fixing. Mistake happen to all of us and let’s face it that is why pencils all have erasers on them, so we can erase a mistake and rewrite it.

But we seem to learn from our mistakes and do our best not to repeat them, especially ones that end up costing us more money than we were prepared to spend.

We don’t seem to see that “learn from our mistakes” attitude in many public/private ventures like the Columbia River Crossing, though. Even though it is crammed with mistakes, the CRC attitude is more of ignore them and forge ahead, regardless of what it will end up costing taxpayers.

To date the CRC has cost over $160 Million and been spread out over a decade and still doesn’t have a design adequate to gain a Coast Guard permit to build the bridge for light rail due to insufficient clearance for river traffic. Somehow, planners ignored that at least 3 current businesses upriver require much more clearance to fit their products under the current bridge between Clark County Washington and Portland, Oregon, even though they were aware of it years go.

Patty Murray: “We Have To Destroy The Middle Class In Order To Save It”

by lewwaters

Patty Murray, ScowlPatty Murray, Democrat Senator from Washington State, following the lead of all other Democrats, portrays herself as a “Champion of the Middle Class.” They swept to power in both houses of congress in the 2006 elections by that claim, bashing President George W. Bush and the spineless Republicans who failed to counter the claims with truth.

The middle class has never been worse off since.

Winning office in the early 1990’s as just a “Mom in tennis shoes,” the now 62 year-old has shown herself to be more of a “Mom in muddy shoes,” sparing no effort to retain her cushioned seat of authority, promoting a Progressive agenda on the backs of the middle class while catering to big labor and selected corporate special interests.

Doesn’t Patty Murray Have Some Cliff to Worry About Falling Over?

by lewwaters

Patty Murray 2Patty Murray, the so-called senior Washington State Senator has long advocated for the Columbia River Crossing and forcing Clark County to accept Portland, Oregon’s financially ailing light rail, even though Clark County voters have voted it down in every ballot measure perceived to support it.

But that doesn’t stop dictatorial Democrats like Patty Murray, even though she is clueless about what goes on in Clark County since we never see her unless she is up for reelection or seeking donations to retain her in the cushioned seat of authority she has gotten accustomed to.

In spite of the apparent corruption surrounding the CRC, having sucked up over $160 Million in planning and can’t even design a bridge with enough clearance to meet U.S. Coast Guard specifications for river traffic clearance, she lends her voice to Oregon’s Governor in the call for “damn the voters, full speed ahead” with the project.

Obama Strangling the Middle Class With High Energy Costs

by lewwaters

It seems hardly a day goes by that mixed in with the emails I receive hawking Viagra, enlarging a certain portion of my body, invitations to chat with some 18 year-old hottie (allegedly) and proposals of marriage from Nigerian or Russian ladies offering me millions of dollars, I find something from the Democrat Party or Barack Obama’s reelection campaign telling me how only they are looking out for me and how Republicans want me to die, fund the rich, starve women, enslave Black people or other malarkey.

Listening to what is said in emails seeking donations for the Democrats you would be left with the impression that they and only they care about those of us in the middle class while the Republicans want all of us bankrupt.

So why has the middle class been hurting more since Democrats swept to power in January 2007 and since Barack Obama began his regime in January 2009? Why are we so much worse off with their fixes that were touted as saving us in the middle class?

We know about the housing bubble that finally burst in the waning days of the Bush administration and saw how all of the blame was laid at his feet, even though he repeatedly warned it was coming, only to have efforts to curtail it blocked by Democrats.

Middle Class Lady “Exhausted” Defending Obama

by lewwaters

Obama’s rambling attempt at a snow job reply can be seen HERE

From his reply I hear, “you’re better off now, you just don’t know it.” Obviously, she doesn’t know the “Great Recession” has been over for a year.

Question is, if it has been “over,” why is the economy still in such poor shape and getting worse?
