UPDATED: Partisan / Nonpartisan Hackery at the Lazy C

by lewwaters

Columbian FishwrapThe political bias of the Lazy C, the Columbian newspaper has been established several times on this blog and others. In spite of that, Editor Lou Brancaccio still tries the spin that they are not biased and in fact are “friend to nobody.”

We know that is not truthful as all we have to do is look over the many years they promoted the now defunct Columbia River Crossing light rail project while diligently working to hide and cover-up many negatives, if no marginalize them.

They are well known to be little more than a daily newsletter for the Democrat Party and once again, we see their blind partisanship glaring at us from the front page of the Sunday, July 7, 2013 edition with the article Political parties take increasingly active role in nonpartisan elections.

UPDATED: Why Was Jon Haugen ‘Sanctioned’ By the Democrats?

by lewwaters

Video of the Nomination of Jon Haugen

Okay, to be honest, it is not officially a “sanction” as the GOP did with Marc Boldt, but it essentially amounts to the same thing, Haugen being “cut off from campaign funding the party doles out to the Democratic candidates it favors” as he did not receive the party’s nomination in his effort to unseat Republican first termer, Jaime Herrera Beutler for the 3rd Congressional District Representative.

Another amazing example of hypocrisy from Democrats as it was they who yelled the loudest when news came out of County Commissioner Marc Boldt being “sanctioned” by the Clark County GOP last November over his many departures from the GOP platform.

The Columbian led the charge with “Why was Boldt sanctioned by GOP?”, “Boldt flap prompts two to quit GOP board”, and more, including an editorial “In Our View: GOP Wounds Self-Inflicted” containing the sub-headline, “Criticizing your own is no way to act as the campaign season approaches.

Now what we read from the Columbian is “Candidate Haugen has ‘fairly horrible experience’ at Dems’ convention.”

No mention of “self-inflicted wounds” and certainly no hundreds of outrage expressed by commenters as when Democrats chose to blast Republicans over essentially the same thing.

We read the party refused to endorse Haugen due to his opposition to the CRC project and included strong opposition from 49th legislative district representative, Jim Moeller, undoubtedly the biggest hypocrite serving in Olympia today.

Clark Dems Decide to Drag Their Feet On Replacing Quitter Jim Jacks

by lewwaters

Mike Heywood, chairman of the 49th Legislative District Democratic Central Committee assigned the task of replacing Jim Jacks, who abruptly quit his office, abandoning constituents March 25, has put the brakes on filling the empty seat, leaving the 49th Legislative District under represented during session.

Democrats Rep. Jim Moeller and Clark County Commissioner Steve Stuart have urged the “slow-down” according to the Columbian article.

Heywood, who initially favored a quicker replacement of the quitter Jacks now says, “they don’t need the vote in Olympia. As that has become more of a shared opinion, the pressure for speed is off,” indicating how comfortable the Democrats are with their majority an ability to shove through any legislation they desire, constituents be damned.

Moeller, indicating most of the work this session has already been done said, “I think our strategy is to put forward our best candidates.”

Would that be like putting forth Jim Jacks since 2008 just so he could abandon constituents 2 weeks ago, saying he did not want the reasons discussed publicly?
