Local Newspapers Don’t Matter to me

by lewwaters

For many months now, the editor of our local newspaper, the Columbian, aka the Lazy C has treated us nearly every Saturday to some editorial on how the paper is structured, assembled, operates and generally how much we need and depend on them.

To this blogger it has been an oversell and reinforced today in Lazy C opinion page editor’s latest screed Local newspaper matters to you

Jayne struggles his best to impress on the reader as to just why the local paper matters, which got me thinking. I no longer fish, so I don’t need it to wrap up my fish caught. I don’t have a bird in a cage, so no need to buy and have paper on hand to line the bottom of the cage.

Okay, that’s a bit snarky, but seriously, does the local newspaper matter to any of us? More than anything I’d love to answer ‘yes,’ but looking back over the years I was politically active, I can only answer a resounding ‘NO!’

Climate of Vitriol?

by lewwaters

It shouldn’t be surprising to see our local newspaper, the Lazy C aka the Columbian, using the tragic murders of five staff members at The Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Md. This past Thursday, June 28, 2018. It is what they do, following the admonition set years ago by leftwing Rahm Emanuel, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste.”

Following that line, we see Opinion Editor Greg Jayne pen Deadly attack on newspaper terrifying – and inspiring where he editorializes on the shooting, pointing out how within hours of the attack, the newspaper in Maryland published their paper in spite of the tragedy.

I have to agree that getting their paper out in spite of such a tragedy, losing five colleagues and undergoing the criminal investigation of the event is a display of dedication on their part.

But then Jayne had to go off on how essential a free press is and pointing fingers about the “Climate of Vitriol” the country is currently embroiled in.

Whining and Begging, Still Failing the Community

by lewwaters

Col MonkeyColumbian editor Lou Brancaccio has never hidden his disdain for blogs and bloggers and in years past has laid a portion of blame on blogs for the Lazy C’s declining sales and subscription rate.

But the reality of it is that newspapers and media in general have no one to blame but themselves for the decline.

Long ago many told Lou that if the newspaper were more even handed and equitable in political coverage, not promoting the left more so than the right, they likely would regain many conservative readers that walked away from their product.

His response as usual, “We already endorse about as many Republicans as we do Democrats.”

An Open Letter to Lefty Lou

by lewwaters

Brancaccio FiatFirst and foremost, Lou, lay off the retard pills!

Now, let’s get some things out in the open, shall we?

Your management of the local Pravda has done more harm to this community than anything I can think of. Your rants disdain and hostility towards those who dare believe differently than you reduces your “editorial talents” to that of a schoolyard bully.

Yes, I said B-U-L-L-Y!!

Lefty Lou’s Mental Disorder and Obsession

by lewwaters

Tits on a bullThis blog has repeatedly indicated how the editor of the local Daily Newsletter for the Democrat Party, the Columbian better known as the Lazy C, appears to be mentally challenged with some sort of disorder causing him to pay undo attention to only a few elected officials in the weekly Press Talk editorials.

Wondering whether or not I might be a little off in my estimation, I went back and looked through the archived editorials. Below are listed, by title, of a list of weekly editorials penned by Lefty that are either about or make a derogatory mention of one of the so-called “M&M Boys” or State Senator Don Benton (R 17).

I’ll leave it to readers to determine if Lefty has gone overboard in his denigrations since January 2012 when the County Commission majority changed to a more conservative majority.

Lazy C Launches Their Paywall

by lewwaters

An analogy of the Lazy C, Southwest Washington’s supposed newspaper, launching a paywall in order to read or comment to head off another financial failure.

It would be easier to just be objective, but that appears to be too difficult for them to understand as they continue chasing away prospective subscribers.
