An Open Letter to Lefty Lou

by lewwaters

Brancaccio FiatFirst and foremost, Lou, lay off the retard pills!

Now, let’s get some things out in the open, shall we?

Your management of the local Pravda has done more harm to this community than anything I can think of. Your rants disdain and hostility towards those who dare believe differently than you reduces your “editorial talents” to that of a schoolyard bully.

Yes, I said B-U-L-L-Y!!

Harry Reid Remarks on the Senate Filibuster

by lewwaters

Reid 1As expected, Senate majority leader, Democrat Harry Reid invoked the “nuclear option” ending filibusters against Obama’s activist judicial nomination.

Speaking on the Senate Filibuster, Reid said,

“Since 1790, the filibuster has been employed hundreds and hundreds of times.

Senators have used it to stand up to popular presidents. To block legislation. And yes – even to stall executive nominees.

The roots of the filibuster can be found in the Constitution and in the Senate rules.
========================
Mr. President, the filibuster is a critical tool in keeping the majority in check. This central fact has been acknowledged and even praised by Senators from both parties.

Is “Lynching” Tomatoes Racist?

by lewwaters

Democrats are once again all up in arms and throwing out their usual pre-election allegations, playing victim and crying how abused they are. Doing so keeps them from actually having to address issues, explain why party leaders in D.C. have not written and submitted a budget in over 3 years or locally, why taxpayers either remain ignored in the approval of Portland’s financially failing light rail being forced on us or why our votes are before a court to be invalidated when Democrats don’t like them.

So we see issues being created and legitimate forms of expressing displeasure with the current administration being exaggerated, embellished an naturally, declared racist in nature as if a cross was burning at a Ku Klux Klan rally.

Even Clark College entered the fray by holding a forum in their “Diversity Center,” ignoring that labeling a simple and legitimate personal protest as racist is as far from diverse as one can get.

I’m referring to the so-called chair “Lynching” recently revealed in Camas, Washington of course.

Media Hype, “Remains of some 9-11 victims went to landfill”

by lewwaters

There are some things that the public just doesn’t need to be told and some things they are told seem more designed to stir up contentions, sell newspapers or draw an audience to a certain TV or Radio News station. The headline titled in this post seems to be a perfect example of that from Portland, Oregon’s KPTV 12.

Remains of some 9-11 victims went to landfill

Reading the headline, who wouldn’t be angered believing human remains from the terrorist attacks were so cavalierly dumped in a landfill? Who wouldn’t be concerned over ecological damage from human remains just thrown out in an open landfill?

Reading the article, we see that this was revealed as part of the investigation into the military’s mortuary at Dover, Del. who was accused of “gross mismanagement” over “some cremated partial remains of at least 274 American war dead were dumped in a Virginia landfill,” as was allowed by a policy that was changed in 2008.

We are told of the investigative committee’s chairman, retired Gen. John Abizaid saying, “We don’t think it should have happened.”

I couldn’t agree more that remains of our fallen should be treated with a great deal more respect.

Accusations, Finger Pointing & Blame Game. But no Viable Ideas

by lewwaters

As expected and as I predicted at the small Tea Party rally July 28, 2011, America’s credit rating has been downgraded from AAA to AA+, with expectations that it might even sink further. We didn’t need to allow that to happen, but in today’s air of hyper-partisanship, party power being more important than the good of the country on both sides of the aisle, it’s what we received.

Our problem remains our ridiculous staggering debt, now with the limit approaching $16 Trillion. Our elected officials seem only able to address the deficit between what they spend and what is received in taxes, spending greatly outpacing tax receipts.

Seeing how our Congress can only spend, spend, spend, we have lost the AAA rating we have depended on. The S & P Report cites among their reasons, “We lowered our long-term rating on the U.S. because we believe that the prolonged controversy over raising the statutory debt ceiling and the related fiscal policy debate indicate that further near-term progress containing the growth in public spending, especially on entitlements, or on reaching an agreement on raising revenues is less likely than we previously assumed and will remain a contentious and fitful process.”

The left immediately focuses on “raising revenues,” increasing taxes on the wealthy, and completely ignores “containing the growth in public spending, especially on entitlements.”

Instead of rolling up their sleeves and setting to actually fixing the problems, what do we once again see?
