I’m a Hero, You’re a Hero, Wouldn’t You Like to be a Hero Too?

Outside an Assisted Living facility

My apologies to Dr. Pepper for highjacking their old lingo, but during this so-called crisis we’re enduring, it appears like everybody has suddenly been declared a hero for simply doing their jobs. The jobs they were hired to do.

While we should be appreciative and show gratitude for those workers stocking grocery shelves or cleaning stores and fixtures, truck drivers for delivering our goods, even those hired to deliver pizza we may order or deliver our mail to our mailboxes, is it really heroics?

Four definitions given by Merriam-Webster dictionary are: a: a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability; b: an illustrious warrior; c: a person admired for achievements and noble qualities; d: one who shows great courage.

An Ohio group claims the dictionary definition is “far too stuffy” in their “Tell us about your ‘Daily Hero’” effort.

Police: Deserving of Our Support and Cooperation

by lewwaters

Police Lives MatterIt appears that it has become more popular than ever to smear and oppose the Police Officers in our country for doing the very job we hired them to do. In this bloggers opinion, that is not just folly but completely wrong.

Don’t get me wrong, there are bad officers that let the job go to their heads and some that should not be on the force, but I also feel that although they are a small minority, they receive the bulk of media attention.

Then too, of late it seems the media has gone out of their way to smear good Cops for acting properly, such as we saw in Ferguson, Missouri in recent months. It is the media that has joined in the fervor of anti-Police smears, often running erroneous claims and feeding those that claim to be “protesters.”

Most disturbing to me is seeing an increasing anti-Police rhetoric on Republican websites, or by those claiming to be Conservative that has wormed their way into the Republican Party.

Are We Becoming A Police State?

by lewwaters

You might think so after what happened to an Oklahoma City man. Chip Harrison was minding his own business, but displayed a sign on his truck reading, “Abort Obama, Not the Unborn.”

Harrison was pulled over by the OKC Police for displaying that sign, the officer saying he felt it was a “threat” against Obama. Although his supervisors admitted it wasn’t a threat and returned the sign, the Secret Service was contacted, who felt the need for a “walk through” of Harrison’s home to “make sure I wasn’t a part of any hate groups.”
