Lazy C, Against Guns but for Socialism?

by lewwaters

This blog has never shied away from stating how the Lazy C, aka the Columbian newspaper, fails the very community it claims to serve with its bias and ignoring allegations of wrongdoing when it comes to Democrats.

Where they lack in deep investigative journalism locally, they make up by promoting whatever the latest agenda of the left may be.

Case in point, two editorials in the Sunday, Aug 5, 2018 edition, In Our View: Printing Guns a Dire Danger and Fear of socialism distorting nation’s political discourse.

A Word on #WalkAway

by lewwaters

Readers have no doubt seen or heard of the #WalkAway campaign where citizens lay claim to having been a Democrat for some time and for various reasons grew tired of the party and “walked away” from it to join the Republican Party.

As with many things where politics are concerned, we also see claims that the campaign is fake or not representative of how people actually feel. There is even been effort to sully the campaign by the use of stock photos of models, denied by the originator of course.

Regardless of whether or not the campaign used the stock photos or has given honest accounts of people fed up and walking away from the party, I can verify that people are in fact walking away. But is it all that unusual for people to be disillusioned and switch parties?

Updated: Steve Stuart Selected for Ridgefield City manager

by lewwaters

Stuart Sneer 2It’s actually no surprise, it has been pretty well known around the county that Mayor Onslow, a fellow member of the C-Tran Gang of Five that sold us out to Oregon’s Trimet, was going to make sure Stuart received the nomination.

Ridgefield’s loss is Clark County’s gain, though.

Stuart will begin on April 14.

After that, the Democrat Party will put forth three individuals for Commissioner’s Madore and Mielke to select his replacement from. So far, I have only heard of Temple Lentz announcing she wishes to be one of the three.

Lazy C “Capitulating” to One-Party Rule

by lewwaters

Commie 2As if we didn’t already realize that the Lazy C, the alleged ‘news’paper of Southwest Washington was little more than another leftist shill, an unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party, the Sunday Jan. 5, 2014 “In Our View: Boehner Finds His Footing” gives ample evidence of it.

In praising Speaker of the House, Republican John Boehner, they say, “An emboldened John Boehner, after years of capitulating to the right wing of his party, suddenly has turned into The Most Interesting Man in Politics.”

Have you ever read or heard of anybody from the Lazy C, or any of the dinosaur lamestream media ever complain or even mention of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi or even a local elected Democrat “capitulating to the left wing” of their party?

In fact, have they ever even hinted that the Democrat leftist agenda might be too far left and should “moderate?”

What Does C-Tran Have to Hide?

by lewwaters

C-TranTransparency, a word we often hear thrown about during political campaigns or read in editorials claiming we should see more of it.

Bombastic former editorial page editor for the Lazy C, John Laird, whipping up support for a new County Charter claimed in a July 14, 2013 editorial, “Commissioners run roughshod over their dual dominion of executive and legislative powers, with far too little transparency and a glaring shortage of accountability.”

November 6, 2013 saw Lazy C Madore critic Erik Hidle actually credit County Commissioner Madore for instituting an “open checkbook” online so citizens could see where our tax dollars have gone and admitting, “It’s also not the only thing Madore has done to make Clark County more transparent.”

Little Slips Can Tell a Lot

by lewwaters

C-TranSomething unscrupulous media has been known to do is try to slip something past readers, citizens of their communities, in an effort to push forward an agenda that a majority in the community might oppose. Other times it might be a small sliver of truth in an agenda driven article, buried deep in the article with hopes that busy people will just read a biased headline and maybe skim the first part of the article.

Some claim they are not biased because there is that hint of truth in an otherwise heavily biased article, all too often missed or overlooked by readers.

And other times a quote is included in what might otherwise be considered an unrelated article that actually sheds light on another matter citizens of a community should be made aware of.

Vancouver, You Can Restore Respect, Fairness and Honesty

by lewwaters
Turlay - 2

Bill Turlay

Respect for citizens and honesty in local government has been seriously lacking for far too long. Our votes have been ignored, our voices disrespected and a small group has set themselves up as rulers over us, dictating what is to be, listening only to special interest groups salivating over adding more middle class tax dollars to their bank accounts.

Our own local mouthpiece for those special interests, the Lazy C has endorsed a solid slate of sell-outs candidates that have either a history of opposing citizens or are naïve and inexperienced over people who are willing to actually represent citizen interests, or have been doing just that for many years.

And we know that the reason boils down to special interest desires to force Portland, Oregon’s financially troubled light rail into Vancouver, draining revenues from our community to theirs and likely filling the pockets of special interests on this side of the river. A look at who the Lazy C is endorsing for office in Vancouver is a who’s who list of sell outs or naïve idealists sold a bill of goods.

Lazy C: Whitewashes, Bias, Sell Out and Bankruptcies

by lewwaters

01I am left amazed how a flip-flop after lying your way into office brought out condemnation after the 2009 mayoral election, but is today being whitewashed by the Lazy C. Yes, for all the praise, ass-kissing and erecting a flimsy pedestal to place Tim Leavitt on today, the Lazy C wasn’t so pleased when he defeated ex-mayor Royce Pollard by nearly a 7-point margin.

In their endorsement of Pollard in 2009, the Lazy wrote of Leavitt, “has nowhere near the leadership capabilities that Pollard has,” describing him as “shallow, defensive and retaliatory” over a report issued by “the Vancouver Firefighters Union that Leavitt missed voting in 16 elections in 10 years.”

In the fashion we see continued today, Leavitt whined, “How does this sleazy maneuver help our struggling communities today?” The Lazy C then answered, “It exposes as delinquent the voting habits of a man who is courting Vancouver’s voters, and reasonable voters don’t see truth-telling as a sleazy maneuver at all.”

Courting ex-mayor Pollard some months after the election drew word that Leavitt had “duped the citizens of America’s Vancouver” and “checked his honesty and integrity at the door somewhere way back down the line … people bought that bull … this was a campaign based on a lie.”

Lazy C Was For a Vote Before They Were Against a Vote

by lewwaters

Boris ColumbianReaders know I have little regard for the Columbian, aka the Lazy C due to their shoddy reporting, lack of interest in reporting negative reports on Democrats and their continued inconsistency directed towards the public.

Wednesday, October 9, 2013 shows once again why their subscriptions continue to decline and why so few in Clark County trust them.

We all know that the CRC light rail project is big news and the community remains divided, many citizens outraged over a recent agreement to enter into a binding contract with TriMet for their financially troubled light rail and surrendering our sovereignty to Oregon just weeks before a scheduled advisory vote by citizens, essentially ruling the vote null and void even before it is held.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road!

by lewwaters

College 4Submitted by Professor Robert Dean

MoellerAGO 2013 No. 1 – July 01, 2013
The Honorable Jim Moeller
State Representative, District 49
PO Box 40600
Olympia, WA 98504-0600 Cite As:
AGO 2013 No. 1

Dear Representative Moeller:

By letter previously acknowledged, you have requested our opinion on a question I have paraphrased as follows:
Must a transit agency that elects to establish high capacity transportation service under RCW 81.104 obtain voter approval for its high capacity transportation system plan and financing plan even if the transit agency does not propose to use the dedicated funding sources provided for in RCW 81.104?

C-Tran Proposes Cutting Bus Service to Fund Light Rail

by lewwaters

First, a little trip down memory lane for you;

Yes, that was our former County Commissioner, Marc Boldt selling you on voting to approve a sales tax increase in the 2011 election in order for C-Tran to keep buses running. Or so we were to believe.

Voters approved that sales tax increase, fearing Granny would be left standing out in the cold on some street corner.

Mayor Leavitt and C-Tran Declare Jihad

by lewwaters

911 037We woke up to horror 12 years ago today. The worst terrorist attack in history had just occurred on the East Coast and we on the West Coast shook the sleep out of our eyes to view the horror in the media reports.

12 years later, we have changed leadership at many levels, sacrificed thousands of our own people fighting terror around the globe, but terror remains.

To a lesser degree, we have our own terror ongoing in Clark County. No, people are not being killed by suicide bombers, but it a form of terror as citizens are being ignored by an ever encroaching political ruling class to circumvent votes of the people and impose a costly project and its cost on them.

Updated: Lazy C Scrapes Bottom in Benton Bash

by lewwaters

Columbian FishwrapThat the Lazy C has a hate fest with State Senator Don Benton (R 17th) is well known in Southwest Washington and as much as it pains me to say, he didn’t help the cause with his public spat with fellow State Senator Ann Rivers (R. 18th) and filing a complaint against her.

Don has received little if any support over it and they did very publicly ‘bury the hatchet’ this past Saturday.

While I have no doubt feathers are still ruffled somewhat, I know of these people are professionals and understand they must work together in the Senate to reach a consensus on improving the lot of our state.

But apparently that isn’t good enough for the Benton haters down at the Lazy C who begrudgingly buried mention of the reconciliation in the online blog and not the front page as they did the spat. Nor are they willing to let it go as they continue to seek more ways to bash Senator Benton.

Jim Moeller, Time To Come Out Of the Closet

by lewwaters

CRC RobberIt would appear that Jim Moeller, Democrat so-called Representative of Washington State’s 49th Legislative District still tries to hide in a self imposed closet. No, I don’t mean his homosexuality, he’s very open about that and in fact, wears it like a badge of honor on his left sleeve.

I’m talking about his disdain for constituents, especially any who do not immediately jump up to agree with his communist positions and even more so, his advocacy for Portland, Oregon over the district he has been reelected to represent 5 times now.

That my fellow 49ers remain so blind to Jim Moeller’s advocacy for Portland over the well-being of the 49th Legislative District is astonishing to me. What will it take for these people to ever open their eyes?

Moeller has shown himself to be a real enemy to the middle class families of Washington State by advocating higher taxes, higher fees and higher costs all to be piled on the backs of the struggling middle class families.

Herrera Beutler Votes For the Destruction of America – UPDATED

by lewwaters

Herrera Obama 4Fresh off being reelected to her first term and before retaking the oath of office, 3rd Congressional District Jaime Herrera Beutler once again reached across the aisle to join with 172 Democrats in the house and 84 other RINO’s to approve the hastily passed “compromise” alleged to avoid the “fiscal Cliff.”

Total count was 172 Democrats and 85 RINO’s voted AYE while 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats wisely votes NOE.

This “compromise” will undoubtedly drive us back into deeper recession by adding $4 Trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years, promises $1 in spending cuts for every $41 in tax increases and extends unemployment entitlements for another year, among other provisions.

Mark Levin Schools Speaker John Boehner

by lewwaters

The Heritage Foundation says of Boehner’s “counter-offer” to Barack Obama, “At first blush, it appears little more than categorical, pre-emptive capitulation.”

In this bloggers not so humble opinion, Boehner is a disgrace and either should resign of be removed from the position of Speaker of the House.

It’s high time we rid ourselves of the Vichy Republicans selling out conservatives under their false banner.

Oh America, What Have You Done?

by lewwaters

Do you ever find yourself sitting down, conflicted on sacrifices made in the past and wondering why any such sacrifices were made after seeing those sacrifices in essence thrown right back in your face? That is where I sit now, on the eve of Veterans Day 2012 and seeing how our recent elections turned out.

I think of all of the hardships we endured over the years defending this nation from Communist aggressors, standing up against them in foreign lands and more than once, engaging them on the battlefields of Korea and Vietnam. I recall the aid poured into other countries to assist them in their struggle against such oppressive foreign interference and how we stood our ground during the Cold War in Europe, President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural words ringing in my ears, “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

JFK must be turning in his grave as we now see the country being handed over to leaders who have shown that the very oppressive government we fought and stood up against for so long is what a majority of our citizens now desire, believing that offers of “free stuff” is better than actually working for yourself.
