Sly Ol’ Fox, Commissioner Mielke. Touche’

by lewwaters

Mielke Thumb UpI love seeing older people put one over on younger people from time to time, especially when the younger one doesn’t seem to realize they’ve just been had. Reading in the Lazy C’s All Politics is Local blog site that seems to be just what Clark County Commissioner Tom Mielke did at a recent Commissioner meeting.

While writer Eric Hidle focuses on Commissioners getting through a meeting without controversy, for once, he seems to have missed the significance of the not so subtle ‘in your face’ gesture offered by Commissioner Mielke.

Or, if he didn’t miss it, he is trying to ignore it.

Why Many Vietnam Vets Are Boycotting ‘The Butler’

by lewwaters

Jane Fonda MugshotIt is being reported how many Vietnam Veterans are both boycotting and calling on others to boycott the Lee Daniels movie, the Butler, leaving many, mostly younger people who weren’t yet born or who were too young to recall those days asking why.

Comparing Ho Chi Minh to America’s Founders is a Slap in the Face

by lewwaters

Ho Chi MinhI don’t know whether Barack Obama is as clueless as he comes across or if he honestly thinks sucking up to a Communist regime will somehow improve his dismal performance in the Oval Office, but comparing a brutal dictator like Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh is a slap in the face to every American, especially to those of us who actually served in Vietnam during Ho’s reign of terror.

Standing alongside current Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, Obama recently said, “At the conclusion of the meeting, President Sang shared with me a copy of a letter sent by Ho Chi Minh to Harry Truman. And we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson. Ho Chi Minh talks about his interest in cooperation with the United States. And President Sang indicated that even if it’s 67 years later, it’s good that we’re still making progress.”

Anybody who believes communism and our Declaration of Independence have anything in common is sadly mistaken.
