Have We Lost Our Sovereignty?

by lewwaters

Tilted ScaleJust about everywhere citizens in Clark County Washington turn, we see our efforts being thwarted by governmental agencies, staff, appointed commissions and what have you. Most notably this seems to come in regards to the Columbia River Crossing project, designed to force us to accept Portland, Oregon’s financially failing light rail, even though it was voted down directly in 1995.

The latest push against citizens by local government comes from City Attorney Ted Gathe, married to 49th Legislative District Representative, Democrat Sharon Wylie, a strong supporter of the CRC, in a legal opinion presented to the Vancouver City Council pertaining to a petition initiative put forth by citizens to prevent any city funds of efforts be extended to promote or accept light rail.

Gathe issued a 7-page analysis along with his legal opinion recommending council “decline placing the ordinance on the ballot because it falls outside the scope of the city’s initiative powers and would not be legally defensible,” according to the Columbian, the local newspaper of record that is also a strong supporter of the project.

“Call Me A Cab.” Here’s Another Fine Mess We’re Getting Into

by lewwaters

The 1930 Laurel & Hardy film, “Another Fine Mess” contains a funny scene where Oliver Hardy, posing as the Lord of the Manor of a mansion they have entered illegally calls to a slightly tipsy Stan Laurel, dressed in drag as the manor’s maid and says to Stan, “Call me a cab.” Stan looks him square in the eye and says, “Okay, you’re a cab.”

Those days are in danger of ending soon, if some in our city and the bully to our south, Portland, Oregon get their way. On June 19, 2012 I was copied the following email to some of our elected officials,

John Kerry: Still Working to Undermine American Sovereignty

by lewwaters

If ever there was a scourge on American leadership, it is Massachusetts senior Senator, Democrat John ‘F’in Kerry, who served in Vietnam (briefly). The anti-American activities this poseur has engaged in over the decades is well known, outside of Massachusetts.

A “self-proclaimed” war hero serving barely 4 months in Vietnam, trumping up a chest full of medals under very questionable actions who stabbed Vietnam Veterans in the back with his lies before Congress in 1971, anti-war activities to propel a political career as well as traveling to Paris to meet with Communist North Vietnamese agents only to return and advocate their position over America’s.

If not for the brave and courageous stand taking by a group of highly decorated Vietnam Veterans and former POWs, the country might have been fooled into electing this liar as president in 2004. His activities contrary to America’s best interests have been well-documented, leaving many to ponder just how it is he remains a United States Senator and not a prisoner in Leavenworth.

Kerry, ever the consummate political opportunist to further his own interests above that of our countrymen is at it again.
