Here Comes ‘Da Taxman’

by lewwaters
Moeller, Spread Watermarked

Jim Moeller

Possibly the worst kept secret in town, long time 49th legislative district representative, Jim Moeller, labeled ‘da taxman’ by this blog due to his love of taxing the middle class (he claims to oppose the B&O tax) has switched his goal from being elected Lt. Governor of our state, as previously announced with his focus now on defeating 3rd Congressional District Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler.

Herrera Beutler, a Republican has held the seat since she was first elected in 2010 after Democrat Brian Baird decided to retire. She has so far held o ff challenges in the primaries from disgruntled Republicans that see her as ‘not pure enough’ and has easily defeated Democrat challengers.

Mike Briggs Wants Your Paycheck

by lewwaters

Mike Briggs, Democrat candidate in the 18th Legislative District speaking to KPSU’s “Raging Moderate” on how he would like to slap more taxes on every middle class taxpayer in some mistaken belief that further burdening struggling families makes education “more affordable.”

Do we really need another tax happy Democrat in Olympia, Washington?

Jim Moeller: Arrogance Over Facts

by lewwaters

head_up_assIn the halls of our state legislature, I cannot imagine a more arrogant person elected than 49th Legislative District Representative, Jim Moeller. Where he is lacking in facts to support his positions, he more than makes up for it with his massive arrogance, ignoring real facts as he does whatever he can to raise taxes and confiscate money from the very people he claims he is working to help.

From his positions supporting public unions over private sector workers to backing private sector unions over non-union employees, Jim never lets facts or reality get in the way of his drive to create a socialist union over a free state of Washington.

Case in point is his blind support of the Columbia River Crossing and forcing Clark County residents to accept the light rail from Portland, Oregon we have repeatedly declined and said we do not want, even if the federal government paid for it.

Do You Think Leavitt’s “Choo Choo Train” is the Answer?

by lewwaters

17 miles in only 78 minutes? For all of the hype we hear of “21st Century Technology,” it sounds more like a return to the Model T era instead of efficiently getting to your destination.

Mayor Tim Leavitt and County Commissioner Steve Stuart remain determined to force this boondoggle on us in Clark County and Vancouver. They claim it to be the “locally preferred alternative,” meaning they chose it over the objections of voters.

The Clark County is in our 3rd year of double digit unemployment with the state considering more taxes on a struggling middle class to try to close an ever growing budget deficit, along with the tax increases seen from both city and county, means nothing to Kings Leavitt and Stuart who are now trying to strongarm yet another tax increase on us for a Bus Rapid Transit system down Fourth Plain and to pay for operations and maintenance on light rail from Portland.

If you believe the taxes will stop there, think again.

Sorry People, But You Have No “Right” To Other People’s Money!

by lewwaters

As we near the end of the 4th year of the “Great Recession,” seeing the national debt skyrocket and 9% unemployment nationwide being billed as the “new norm,” we once again see Governor Gregoire calling for more tax increases and of course, budget cuts.

We saw her recommend and the legislature pass some pretty deep cuts last year, but now see and hear they didn’t do much good; they didn’t help our ongoing struggles in this deeply recessed economy.

We all know that it is government spending that is the real problem and not the lack of revenue so much, as Democrats always claim in their desire to rape the taxpayers’ wallet even more, but what of those “deep obscene cuts” from last year? Why didn’t they help out as expected?

Rossi Announces Run Against Murray

by lewwaters

Dino Rossi ended his long silence on whether or not he will enter the race against Patty Murray this morning by announcing his entry into the race with a video message placed on his website,

Rasmussen polls place Rossi nearly neck and neck with Senator Murray, but many comments from voters around the state aren’t as supportive as the polls indicate.

Some speculation has been expressed that others who have been campaigning would drop out and get in behind Rossi, if he announced.

State Senator Don Benton last evening stated he welcomes Rossi’s entry and looks forward to debating today’s issues with him.

Previously, Clint Didier has stated he is in the race to win and will remain in to the end.

Rossi is a Washington State Republican Party favorite, but to date, Didier seems to have raised the most funds and gained the most support. PAul Akers is second with Benton is third over all.

Democrats began slinging mud towards Rossi earlier in May, earning her the new nickname of the Mom in Muddy Tennis Shoes, a play off of her successful Mom in Tennis Shoes meme when she ran for the US Senate.

There is little doubt, though, that Murray is a formidable opponent with a campaign war chest totally some $5 Million and you can rest assured the Democrats plan on fighting hard to keep this little tax happy lady in office.

Whether or not Rossi is the one to unseat her remains to be seen.
