ILWU Heard from Again

by lewwaters

After the last little exchange with Tony Baur here, a self professed ILWU member and seeing the Columbian scrub his threatening comments, it seems he now feels I am not a “nice person.”

What makes me not a “nice person?”

Opposing union thuggery?

Supporting workers freedom to work without the extortion of the union?

Oh well, I’ve had worse said to me by better.

UPDATE:

Smart move, Tony.

Longshore Local President Dan Coffman on Escalating Union Thuggery

by lewwaters

After a carjacking, vandalism of rail cars, dumping (not spilling) grain, destruction of private property, interfering with interstate commerce, assaulting Police Officers, preventing security guards from leaving while they trashed the facility and the possibility of involvement in rail tampering, Governor Gregoire, it is time you called out the Guard to protect innocent American workers, Union workers in Longview.

This thuggery must stop before someone is seriously injured or killed at the hands of these thugs.

Cowlitz County Requests Judge to Expedite EGT Decision

by lewwaters

From the Daily News, Cowlitz County Commissioners, apparently fearful of further union thuggery have requested U.S. District Court Judge Ronald Leighton “to expedite a decision in the dispute over union labor at the new EGT grain terminal.”

Commissioners maintain “they aren’t taking sides but want the conflict resolved quickly,” citing the reason they fear the already “very volatile situation” could escalate into “serious injury.”

The letter sent to Judge Leighton states, “We believe the situation is at a high risk of escalation with potential serious injury to citizens or law enforcement.” Commissioner George Raiter added, “We don’t want to take sides. We just want to get this resolved as soon as possible.”

Union officials say they are opposed to rushing the decision and in spite of commissioners saying they do not wish to influence the judges decision either way, maintaining a neutral stance, the union also questions whether or not they are truly neutral.

Of Union Thugs and Newspaper Writers

by lewwaters

AP photo by Don Ryan

The Longview Longshoremen have been making a lot of news lately, none of it very favorable to them. Since they are in a dispute with the EGT Grain Terminal in Longview over their hiring a another union to do the work, local 21 of the ILWU have resorted to vandalism of trains, threats towards the Police, assaulting the Police, breaking down fences and smashing out windows, keeping people against their will by blocking them from leaving the grounds during their early A.M. rampage a couple weeks ago, carjacking a security car and driving it off into a ditch an interfering with interstate commerce by repeatedly trying to block shipments of grain into the facility by sitting down on train tracks and holding up trains.

These are actions we most commonly refer to as “thuggery,” the actions of a ruffian; a hoodlum or as many of say, union thugs when they don’t get their way. You can also call it violent extortion, forcing a company to cave to their demands of higher wages or benefits, or else risk vandalism and destruction of the companies’ property.

Not all unions engage in such despicable conduct, but the ILWU in Longview recently has. Many suspect it was someone associated with or supportive of them that tampered with railroad tracks and shut down rail traffic for hours on Monday, September 26, 2011.

We all see whenever thugs of any type engage in such nefarious conduct. Be it union violence or thuggish teens and anarchist rioting, it is apparent and if reported in the local news outlets, even if not national media.

But how many of us have noticed or paid any attention to any media thuggery?

Yes they are, but not quite how he thinks.

Union Thugs Yanked Off Railroad Tracks By Police

by lewwaters

A handful of protesters who were blocking railroad tracks at the Port of Longview were handcuffed and hauled away by police officers Wednesday morning.

Vancouver Police earlier guarded rail crossings as the train passed through Vancouver.

Union thuggery has to stop. They make unrealistic demands and when they don’t get them, set out to destroy a business? Extortion anyone?

Union Rent-a-Thugs Descend on Southwest Washington

by lewwaters

AP photo by Don Ryan

Ports up and down the Columbia River appear under siege by bused in thugs of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union as union goons escalate their dispute with the EGT Company at the Port of Cowlitz in Longview, Washington.

Union thuggery breaking out in Southwest Washington has attracted national news media as the Wall Street journal, the Associated Press and Fox News are covering the union goons storming the port, breaking down gates, to smashing glass to overpower security guards they held hostage for a few hours in the wee hours of the morning, Thursday September 8, 2011. From there, bussed in thugs rolled out train cars, cut brake lines and dumped food grain on the ground.

This is an escalation from Wednesday where hundreds of goons first stopped and blocked the train as it came through Vancouver Washington. Once it continued on, other goons blocked the train at Cowlitz County, tangled with the Police and vandalized the train. 19 union goons were arrested.

Gunman Kills 3, Wounds 6 the Day After Teamsters Leader Calls for “Take Them SOB’s Out.”

by lewwaters

Jimmy Hoffa Jr., leader of the Teamsters Union outraged some people recently as he stood before a crowd, introducing Barack Obama saying, “President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these sons of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong.” I say some because apparently, such incendiary rhetoric coming from a Democrat is acceptable.

We know that anything said by a conservative is quickly linked to any subsequent crime or tragic event, as we saw this past January when Democrat Representative Gabrielle Giffords was shot, others killed and wounded by an apparently mentally disturbed young man.

It didn’t take but minutes for the propaganda machine to rev up blaming the shooting on Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Republicans and conservatives of any sort. That there was absolutely no evidence of any nature of any political intent or linkage made no difference, liberals went on a verbal rampage of condemnation and many continue it even after it has come out that the shooter, Jared Loughner had no political affiliation other than a last known liberal leaning years ago.

That was quickly ridiculed and the manufactured outrage directed at conservatives continued to fly.

America Enjoys Labor Day, Ignores the History of Violence Responsible for it

by lewwaters

Labor Day, for many it’s the official end of summer and the beginning of a new school year for children. A day set aside by congress in 1894 and, according to the Department of Labor, “a creation of the labor movement and dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.”

What is conveniently left out of that “dedication,” is acknowledgement of the economic depression that began the previous year in 1893 and what became known as the Pullman Strike, where economic conditions not much different than we see today caused layoffs and wage cuts at the Pullman company, a company who was known for manufacturing rail cars that converted to sleeping quarters overnight.

George Pullman, owner of the company cut wages, but retained the level of rent he charged workers in his company owned homes, causing a strike that the American Railway Union decided to become a part of. Their efforts led to “Rioting, pillaging, and burning of railroad cars,” disrupting not only travel, but delivery of the mail.

Eugene V. Debs

Democratic president Grover Cleveland deployed troops to break up the strike and in the ensuing escalation of violence and looting, two men were killed. The leader of the American Railway Union, Eugene V. Debs went to prison, his union disbanded and Pullman employees had to sign a pledge they would never again unionize.

In the meantime, seeing several states passing and celebrating a Labor Day and sensing political unease due to his sending troops in to break the strike; President Cleveland called on congress to rush through a national Labor Day in an effort to reconcile with a weakened but still present Labor Movement in America.

The legislation passed unanimously June 28, 1894, just 6 days after the Pullman Strike was broken.

Wisconisn Unions Protest Black Children Receiving a Good Education & Gov. Walker’s Visit

by lewwaters

With as many as 85% of Messmer Catholic School children going on to college, when public schools under union control see drop-out rates as high as 50%, you’d think the unions would encourage more schools like Messmer. Not so, as the below video shows.

Governor Walker supports results like those seen at Messmer Catholic School. We hear lip service from Democrats and unions that they seek it too, so why then do they so heavily oppose schools like Messmer that actually teach Black Children, not just shuffle them through the system and get them on welfare checks, stuck in the ghettos?

Americans are beginning to see both Democrats and unions for the thuggery they encourage to stay in power while they ignore the plight of the people they claim they serve.

Van Jones and the Contract For An American Socialist Nightmare

by lewwaters

As much as those on the left denigrate and demean conservatives on the right, it is most laughable that they seem to think imitating our ways can elevate them to power. This cannot be demonstrated any better than the latest move by former Obama Environmental Adviser Van Jones, forced to resign in disgrace due to past involvement with a known Marxist Group, the 911 Truther Movement and for publicly disparaging congressional Republicans, as he copies Republican Newt Gingrich’s 1994 Contract With America that propelled Republicans into power.

Jones, working with Moveon.org calls his A Contract for the American Dream, playing off of the 1994 Republican contract mentioned above. That’s where the similarities end. As US News’ Peter Roff puts it, “it fails to define the specifics of what a new Democratic majority would do if returned to power along with President Barack Obama, something the GOP’s Contract with America did clearly and succinctly.”

While the contract does not explain fully and clearly in specific terms, looking it over with a discerning eye reveal it to be yet another call for massive spending increases and expansion of government well beyond any America has ever endured to date. Contrary to its claim of for the American Dream, it is actually a contract for a socialist nightmare.

Union Goons Invade State Capitol, 17 Arrested. Wisconsin Fleebagger Due In

by lewwaters

As I predicted here, inspired by the disruptive display of union supporters and thugs in Wisconsin and ignoring that Washington State remains a Democratic Party majority government, union goons invaded the state capitol in Olympia where seventeen union goons and supporters were arrested for trying to storm Democrat Governor Gregoire’s office, according to the Olympian.

The union goons, upset over being expected to “pay their fair share” in the current budget crisis.

The protest, led by the greedy SEIU is said to have brought about 500 people to oppose budget reductions called for across the board to offset the current $5 Billion budget gap.

Washington State Patrol officers did not arrest those who refused to leave the capitol last night after being told to, but arrested the 17 today when they tried to force their way past the officers into Governor Gregoire’s office, shouting “let us in” and “we want the governor.”

One of the union goons, Sharon Kitchel-Perdue who was arrested said, “They need to listen to us,” referring to the Democrat led legislature.

Greedy Public Union Demands Violate International Law!

by lewwaters

The war declared on struggling middle class taxpayers by greedy Public Union bosses has escalated now to the point that supporters of raping more tax dollars from an impoverished middle class have turned to “International Law,” once again ignoring America’s sovereignty and our constitution, placing United Nations mandates in their place.

Ordinarily I’d ignore such efforts to circumvent our sovereignty and rely on our own constitution, but since greedy public union bosses and those they have misled wish to take this avenue, I’ll play along. They may not like that too much, though.

I first saw this tactic of circumventing our sovereignty with James Taranto taking Brian Leiter, a left-liberal philosopher who teaches at the University of Chicago to task at the Wall Street Journal in his article, The Leiter Side of Union Thuggery.

Leiter makes two points on his page here,

1. Collective bargaining is, per the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a human right.
2. There are circumstances in which violations of human rights call for unlawful actions, including violence.

Similarly, we now see supporters of the greedy public union bosses citing Amnesty International, who on March 17, 2011 issued their “Warning on US states’ plan to severely restrict workers’ rights .”

Public Union Thuggery Headed to Washington State?

by lewwaters

Like Wisconsin, Washington State faces a multi-Billion dollar budget deficit and is constitutionally required to balance the budget. Past efforts have come up short and although balanced on paper, have resulted in the deficit gap just being kicked down the road to be dealt with later.

Later has arrived and even governor Gregoire is calling for drastic cuts in areas she doesn’t agree with. But, difficult decisions must be made in order to avoid slipping into bankruptcy.

Democrat Representative of the 49th legislative district, Jim Moeller continues to create ways to take more money from citizens in the state, showing his unwillingness to cut out wasteful spending, which has gotten us into this budgetary crisis. One such example would be his tax we all dubbed the ‘candy & soda tax’ that heaped taxes on some candy bars and other comfort products. It was easily thrown out by voters in the November 2010 election, after we succeeded in having his legislation put before voters.

One area of concern that has been the subject of calls to be dealt with by taxpayers is public union benefits and wages, often that are much more generous than those a private sector counter-part. A report issued by the State Auditor’s Office in December 2010 shows that the State’s Unfunded Liabilities are a Whopping $24.1 Billion, a significant portion of which is union pensions.

More Union Thuggery

by lewwaters

As the video below shows, a Union Organizer from the California Nurses Association assaults a young Republican videotaping a public rally repeatedly.

Video from No Governor Moonbeam blog and linked to at Breibart TV

The Organizers name is ‘Mike’ and the video was taped on July 15, 2010 on the campus of Canada Community College. Union members had recently completed a rally outside the home of Meg Whitman in Atherton, Ca.

The CNA is linked to the SEIU.

Is this what we could have come to expect had HB 1329, the bill backed heavily by the SEIU and co-sponsored and twice voted for by Jaime Herrera had passed?

Jaime Herrera Says, “Trust Me”

Why I Question Jaime Herrera’s Judgment

Do we really need to try to send someone to Washington D.C. that cannot see the folly of their way in supporting and working to further the goals of such groups as the SEIU, who have been caught many times using such tactics as coercion and physical intimidation to get their way at our expense?

Jaime Herrera supported these people even against her constituents.

We need a strong consistent conservative like David Castillo and not a pro-union RINO like Herrera sent to Washington D.C.

Lech Walesa Is Warning Us. Are You Listening?

by lewwaters

Lech Walesa, a name unknown to many younger people who were born in the 1980’s, but a name we heard often during the time.

Walesa, born during the Nazi occupation of his native Poland in 1943, grew to adulthood behind the Iron Curtain that separated a free Europe to the west and an enslaved Europe to the east.

The son of a peasant farmer, Lech Walesa, a simple shipyard worker in Gdansk, ignited the spark of freedom in Poland through his organizing of free labor unions, most notably Solidarnosc (Solidarity), in opposition to communist labor unions. With the support of such world leaders as America’s President Ronald Reagan and Britain’s Margaret Thatcher, Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev abandoned the Polish Communist government, leading to Lech Walesa being freely elected the President of free Poland in 1989.

Possibly out of a sense of appreciation for American support, or disillusionment with Barack Obama’s backing out of the Bush administration’s plan of a deterrent missile shield in Poland, Walesa recently traveled to America, Illinois specifically, to openly endorse and support the Republican candidate, Adam Andrzejewski for the Illinois Governor’s race.

FoundingBloggers.com had the opportunity to sit and talk with President Walesa and have an 8-minute video presentation at the link provided.

Discussing Republican candidate Andrzejewski, Walesa warned America,

“The United States is only one superpower. Today they lead the world. Nobody has doubts about it, militarily. They also lead economically, but they’re getting weak.
“But they don’t lead morally and politically anymore. The world has no leadership. The United States was always the last resort and hope for all other nations. There was the hope, whenever something was going wrong, one could count on the United States. Today, we lost that hope.”

Asked if America were moving towards socialism, Walesa answered “yes,” adding,

“The issue with the banks; and the government wastes all the money; they build a bureaucracy; just for itself.”

Unlike thug SEIU president, Andy Stern who says, “If we can’t use the power of persuasion, we will use the persuasion of power,” and embraces the communist slogan of “workers of the world unite,” Lech Walesa warns America that the world needs New Solidarity, standing up to thugs like the SEIU and other oppressive unions blindly following the teachings of Saul Alinsky and their minions in the government.

His call led Poland to freedom. Are you listening? Will you keep America free?

Constituents Snubbed By Baird, Unions Get Stealth Town Hall

by lewwaters

Updated & Rewritten

Baird relents, see update after post

Knowing that the media all over America has been reporting that Congressman Brian Baird had to “cancel” plans to hold Town Hall meetings with constituents over a “death threat” allegedly faxed to Baird, it was a bit perplexing to be notified this morning of a call that went out to selected members of the WA Federation of State Employees Union, urging to show up to a “meeting” to be held in Cowlitz County, Thursday, Aug 13 from 2 PM to 4 PM, that would be a face-to-face with Congressman Baird.

Baird has said in regards to face-to-face town hall meeting with constituents, “What we’re seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics,” and “There is this national movement in blogs and on the Internet to go to town hall meetings solely to attack people.” He went on to say, “live meetings will ‘probably resume’ in September or October,” in an interview with the Columbian.

Since Clark County constituents were treated to a hastily set up tele-conference Friday, August 7, with a very last minute notification going out to some, it piqued my interest to read of Union members being invited to meet with in a face-to-face meeting with a couple days notice.

I found it especially curious, as Representative Baird had indicated fear for his life due to the death threat allegedly faxed to him, but so far, it has been only Union thugs that have physically attacked and beaten people at town halls.

Searching for any announcement of the meeting, I was directed to the August 11 edition of the Longview Daily News and the article, Federal lawmakers to get report from Mount St. Helens panel which announces,

“Swanson said Friday he didn’t believe public comment would be taken at Thursday’s event, but it is open to the public. The meeting is only scheduled for one hour, making a public comment session unlikely.”

“Thursday’s meeting is at 2 p.m. in the Cowlitz County Expo and Conference Center, 1900 Seventh Ave., Longview.”

That certainly doesn’t sound like much of a meeting to stack it with supporters, especially with the email notifying those selected members saying,

“Spread the word & come if you can…. btw, this is NOT a health-care event (though it wouldn’t surprise me if there was protesting going on). Come out in your green shirt & hear what your Congressman & Senators have to say!”

Looking around the WA Federation of State Employees web site I found,

A number of town hall meetings are scheduled in coming weeks. While Congress is home on vacation, make sure they hear from you about health care reform. Attend an event in your area with your Members of Congress to show that we need health care reform and we need it now. It would be very good to counter the anti-health care reform rhetoric at these Town Halls. To see the schedule in your area and to download resources you can use, go to http://www.wfse.org > Action Center.

You’ve seen the news reports showing the shouting matches at these town hall meetings, some from legitimate frustration, but a lot orchestrated by big business and the big insurance companies. You need to make your voice heard so the call for affordable health insurance isn’t drowned out by the greed of the insurance companies.

One important town hall meeting is set this Thursday in Longview.

Senator Murray, Senator Cantwell and Representative Baird are scheduled to be in Longview on Thursday to speak on local issues. This was not scheduled as a health care event, but opponents of health care reform are targeting this meeting as a platform for their message.

We need AFSCME health care reform ADVOCATES in the house. Please try to attend!

Details:
Mount St. Helens Citizen Advisory Committee Update
Thursday, August 13, 2009 / 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Cowlitz County Expo Center, Loowit Meeting Room, 1900 7th Ave., Longview

But, didn’t the Union email just say it wasn’t about healthcare?

Looking around some more, I was even more surprised to discover on the official Obama website, Organizing For America,

Standing up for insurance reform in Longview, WA with Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, And Rep. Baird (Health Care Public Event)

Our representatives are under attack by Washington insiders, insurance companies, and well-financed special interests who don’t go a day without spreading lies and stirring up fear. We need to show that we’re sick and tired of it, and that we’re ready for real change, this year.

Please come to the Health Care event, and make sure that the most powerful voices in this debate are those calling for real reform.

Please try to arrive by noon; space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Time: Thursday, August 13 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Host: Organizing for America
Location: COWLITZ COUNTY EXPO CENTER (LONGVIEW, WA)
1900 7TH AVENUE LONGVIEW, WA 98632

This is the same location, same day and same time the Daily Times tells us the three will be in Cowlitz to receive a simple report, in a one-hour meeting. Surely they cannot be in more than one place at one time, so it appears the public announcement went out in the very bottom of a article filled with deflective words, possibly to discourage public attendance, seeing just another boring meeting over nothing too important.

Yet, OAF and WFSE are sending out invites to stack a town hall type event that all 3 will be at, showing any media invited how the citizens of southwest Washington support this healthcare reform when they televise it later on.

Baird champions himself as an advocate of his constituents, yet we are snubbed when it comes to meeting with him face-to-face to discuss such an important matter as totally revamping our healthcare industry under near complete government control. We that were lucky enough to get through last Friday were entitled to ask a question over the phone and only those fortunate enough to be listening in were able to hear the answers given.

And now we see that Baird, along with Murray, Cantwell, OAF and WFSE seem to be conspiring to hold a stealth townhall on healthcare that will most assuredly will be shown afterwards as a big win for Democrats, when voices of opposition will not be present, not knowing what was really going on.

If this is not a deliberate attempt to set-up a favorable town hall for display, then these people are inept and should not be trusted running out healthcare system.

This is not an “advocate of the people,” but a career politician ponying up to special interest money for support

I can’t really say I’m shocked, but clearly, Brian Baird needs to be replaced in November 2010.

With the challengers running, to replace Baird, he has shown a complete lack of regard for voters in Washington’s Third Congressional District with favoring special interests.

UPDATE: Congressman Baird, obviously under fire from many constituents, has cancelled the stealth townhall and is arranging town halls for constituents. Baird apologizes, announces meetings

Liberal Columnist Says, “It’s time to fight dirty”

by lewwaters

Ron Paul CrybabyFrom the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette,

“There are times when I want to quit being a progressive liberal, tear up my ACLU membership card and surrender my implanted mind-control chip through which I receive marching orders from Hugo Chavez. No matter the righteousness of the cause, liberal progressives cannot seem to get on top of any public policy debate, cannot seem to win any war of words — which is just weird because you have to assume there are many more English majors among liberals.” (emphasis added)

Source

Did Mr. Neil not receive the memo that he and his liberal Democrats now hold complete control over the government, the White House, a large majority in the House and a filibuster proof majority in the Senate?

If he is calling for fighting dirty now, just what were they doing these past years at every step?

After bashing insurance companies and Republicans, he says,

“Liberal progressives and advocates are going to have to get down and dirty if they want to win this fight.”

More lies? More Union thugs attacking those who disagree? More denial of free speech to a segment of society?

How much more “down and dirty” can liberals be than what we have seen these past few years?
